The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I feel like the new ones will look similar in six months unless they make a concerted effort to keep them clean. Is it something about the water at VGC?
Someone said it’s the copper pipes but it takes a long while for the build up to occur. Peeling happens when it’s not cleaned properly and the build up then falls off and takes the chrome overlay with it. Again another thing they could prevent if they chose to use better materials. Like a shower head that is brushed nickel and not chrome.

The 'chrome' that is peeling is not actually chrome. It is a metalized polyester that looks like chrome and is much cheaper.
True chrome plating replaced nickel because it is much better. It is harder, more durable, and resists tarnish better. In a properly plated chrome fixture, nickel is typically plated up as a base layer, then the chrome is plated on.

I had no idea there was fake chrome! This explains why my what I thought was cheap chrome fixtures in my house lasted so well. We lived there 15 years and they looked almost perfect when we sold the house. Spoiler... I had copper pipes in that house too!

Still regretting not getting a photo of that one lone new shower head in my room. Makes me wonder what possibly could have happened to the original for them to cave and put a new one in.
It’s a very sensitive and unique product and you must have been in the room they are using to test out the new model. 😂
