Does anyone else find it slightly amusing that the many of the preferred views at the new VDH are of The Grand Californian?

Including the view from the Grand Villas.

Especially when they said the refurb was why our dues increased! ...and then said nothing. I think we will get something mentioned at the meeting.

Well, look at it this way - the refurb will be paid for from the Capital Reserves part of the budget, where you've been "saving up" for several years. Costs have increased a lot, so they've had to increase the number of $$ you have to set aside for the refurb. The longer you wait for refurb, the more $$ you have saved up, and the nicer the refurb can be.

At least that's what I kept telling myself when our BWV refurb was delayed by VGF and Poly jumping ahead in the line before BRV, and then BCV jumped in front of BWV.

Well, I don't know what the rules are about DVC "lending" a condominium association money to pay for a refurb. IOW, you may be limited to cash on hand.

When Disney loaned the DHHIR condo association money to pay the insurance deductible after Hurrican Mathew tore it up, it was a big deal, but maybe that had to do with the $ amount.

Also...what are the odds of them keep carpet in the villas? I'm worried they will go to all hardwood and I, personally, like carpet. Yes, it can get grimy but for sound purposes, it's better. And it just gives a cozy feel to me.

I would put a high probability on them putting in hard laminate with rugs.

If anyone is at the Grand Cal in the coming days can you stop in and give us some updates/pictures of the new Villa's VGC Gear they have in the gift shop? In the recent DVC Fan Video @pkrieger2287 and Amy shared that there is some new DVC merch actually specific to VGC there. With all of the love VDH is getting perhaps VGC is getting some too....

There is! Amy picked up this new hooded sweatshirt! There are also some sweatpants... Seems to be a new line coming to most DVC properties. I've seen the sweatshirt at Saratoga and Vero Beach also thus far.
