What are the chances of the refurb being done by January/February 2025?

We have a couple trips we know we want to take....January 2024 is BRV at WDW. June 2024 is VGC. December 2025 is VGC. But now we're discussing whether or not we want to make a trip in January or February 2025 so we don't have an 18 month gap between trips.

We are basically deciding between these three choices....
1. No trip. Just bank unused points. Deal with the 18 month gap.
2. Go to VGC in January/February 2025.
3. Go to WDW in January 2025.

But there there's a good chance of loud construction mess in early 2025 still.....that makes me not want to do that.

Of course, if our son doesn't enjoy his first trip to WDW next month, I don't see us wanting to go back there so who knows.

I don't really want to go to DLR in March or April because of Spring break crowds and higher points. And May is too hectic with end of school year stuff. I guess we could bank the points and do June 2025 but that just seems to close to VGC in December. The goal is to not get our son burnt out on Disneyland...ha!

Anyway...just babbling and trying to talk through things. Probably not the best thread for it but here I am. :-)

I vote that you see how this trip to WDW goes… book VGC @ 11m and then see what’s available to trade in to at WDW @ 7m.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's what we'll end up doing since it doesn't hurt to just book it and cancel if we need to. So that would be early February 2024. I think my husband was like "why are we talking about a 2025 trip already" because it seems so far away but really it's not.

DVC refurbs start when they start, and end when they end. No one knows the dates, and won't until the morning workers show up one day and start blocking off rooms and laying plastic on carpet.
That's what I was afraid of. Even if they start in the Fall, I guess there's no telling how long it will take. I hope, at the very least, our December 2025 trip is safe!

Honestly, not good. I think they just started blocking rooms for fall of 2024. This is also a full referb, so extensive work will be done on the kitchens and bathrooms. It is a smaller resort so it shouldn’t take as long as other resorts…. But it will probably take at least 6 months, probably closer to a year or more. They will probably close 1 floor at a time for a period of 4-8 weeks…. This is just speculation though.

I like to visit in May and I fully expect construction to be taking place during my 2025 trip.

How exactly can people tell when rooms are taken out of inventory? Is there some special trick to it when looking at the DVC site? I can't seem to figure it out.

Yeah @ehh keep track of room blocking which can be predictive, but it’s not perfect; beach club just stopped in the spring and opened a whole bunch of last minute inventory up; meanwhile, Boardwalk is currently moving people who are checking in this week from rooms they booked because they’re behind schedule with the refurb.

In general DL is better at having reasonable construction timelines and meeting them than WDW, so things may go much better at VGC (especially as small as it is), but it’s impossible to be sure. They might postpone the whole thing until summer 2025! They’ve done things like that before, actually, they’ve postponed dates a lot!

I've got my "BIG" trips in 2025 planned and have for a couple months now! I'm feeling spontaneous that I'm adding another WDW trip in January of 2025 that I just planned in the last week. I can book it in a little over two months. For me that feels sort of last minute. Then again I'm crazy.

Does anyone know how many actual contracts exist for VGC? Just curious how many of us exist.

Also, does VGC have the least amount of contracts, overall?

I will be staying 1 night next Tuesday in a studio. I have only been in 1 bedrooms. I will see if I like the smaller space, was really nice to have extra bathroom but for 1 night I could handle having to share with family

This says there are 3,399 "club members" at VGC as of 12/2022. This would mean the average total contract size per owner is about 334 points, which seems high.
Well, but does “club member” refer to one DVC membership number (which might include several people and/or several VGC contracts) or does it refer to the Club ID, which is one per individual owner no matter how many contracts or memberships that individual is part of?

Good question. VGC points are so high that I have two membership #s because I went for the best price I could get vs limiting myself to one UY…
