Part one: Introductions!
Im naming us after Disney villains/scary characters, because those are our favorites! At least they are my favorites, and DHs. My mom is a die-hard Mickey fan.
Me - Yzma, 25. I have a long history with WDW I was there when I was only a few months old. We have some great pictures of my grandpa carrying me around in a snuggli! Ive been every 2-3 years since then. When everyone else was spring breaking in Cancun in college, my roommates and I packed up a car and drove from Iowa to Orlando! Here I am as a child of the 80s/early 90s with my perm and big glasses. I doubt we were staying on-property at this point.
DH - Kronk, 28. He is one of four kids in his family, so their vacations were limited to going to grandmas house when he was growing up. I took him on his first WDW trip just us - in January 2005, right after we got engaged. Hes a big kid at heart. He loves the Nightmare Before Christmas. I probably should have named him Jack, but I saw that someone else on here already started a Jack and Sally trip report! =) This is an incredibly attractive picture of us at our friends wedding rehearsal dinner just a little over a year ago:
His hair is really long in that picture its really close-cut now. Anyway. To give you an idea of how much he loves NBC, heres a couple of pictures from our wedding:
My mom the Queen of Hearts. Ahh, my mom is the reason I love Disney. Not sure where she developed such a love for it, but shes got the bug, bad. Or should I say, the rodent Bad joke. Shes a great lady with a big heart who is SO excited to show a couple of people in our group WDW for the first time. Shes an excellent tour guide, if I do say so myself. This is my parents at a wedding (all of my pictures seem to be from weddings ) in May. She broke her ankle the morning we left for the wedding and spent the whole week in Mexico in a wheelchair with her foot elevated! No beaches or swimming for her, but at least she had people to bring her drinks! I told her shes on bed rest for two weeks before Disney.
My dad Stromboli. See picture above. Easy-going dude. Likes Disney, but not the way my mom and I do. He does appreciate it, though, and if they take a break for a couple of years, hes usually the first to say, Were about due for a trip to Orlando, arent we? Theyre big travelers. They make it to Key West once every couple of years and Las Vegas at least once a year.
My aunt Cruella. My moms only sibling. Shes never been to Disney and is SUPER excited. She will be fun to take because shes not the jaded type. She will truly be in awe of everything. She loves to dance, so we will have to take her to Pleasure Island one night!
My best friend Shock, 26. Shock is one of the girls I went to WDW with on Spring Break. Our car actually broke down in Paducah, Ky., on the way home from the trip. The mechanic didnt have the part on hand so we had to spend the night and eventually Stromboli had to come rescue us. Hes a good dad! Shock and I have known each other for seven years now. Weve lived in a dorm together, two apartments and one town house. I believe this will be her second Disney trip. I think the time we went together was her first. This is us in one of those horrible self-pictures that never turn out well!
Her boyfriend of six years Lock, 31. Lock is one of my good friends as well, and one of Kronks best friends. He sang at our wedding. Hes known for his great skills of persuasion and knows everyone in the world. You cant go ANYWHERE with him without running into at least 15 people he knows. Hes best friends with strangers five minutes after meeting them and one of his favorite phrases is, Its on like Donkey Kong. This will be his first time! My mom just LOVES him, so she is going to really enjoy showing him things. Below is Kronk and Lock enjoying pork chop on a stick at the Iowa State Fair last year.
Friends of the family The Graceys. My parents have been friends with the Graceys since before I was born Master Gracey and Stromboli used to race motorcycles together. The Graceys daughter was the flower girl at my wedding. We like to call her Wild Woman. They probably wont factor into the Pre-Trip Report too much, because although they will be there at the same time as us and well probably get together for some dinners and such (Id love for all of us to share a Kitchen Sink); they are really on a family trip. The oldest Gracey boy graduates high school next year and theyre enjoying time together before he goes off to college.
