I'll be attending the DVC DL party next weekend and I have a feeling they'll be throwing out some pretty decent offers. I've passed on some add-on "good deals" before but I dont want to pass on something outstanding! From what I understand (courtesy of a DVC rep), this is DVC's GCV intro and also their attempt to get rid of the last of the SSR points. What I want to know from you is

What is the best SSR deal you've heard of/received??

I know you DCL passengers have been seriously hooked up in the past and i'm hoping that this next weekend will either meet or beat those deals! I want to go down there knowing what deal I'm looking for so I can make the best decision and HOPEFULLY add on!
:yay:

I think the best deal I have seen is $79/pp resale. I'm not sure what they are going for now... maybe 82?

We were on the cruise two weeks ago and the incentive was the same as on land. Well, the $500 giftcard they are offering now was a $500 onboard ship credit instead. Other than that, the same offer of $10 off per point at Saratoga, 2007 points with no maint fees and 2008's points with pro-rated maint fees. No closing costs for an add-on.

Ours was the same except instead of the $500 gift card, we got 100 developer points with a referral from a current member. Depends on how you value your points I suppose, but that seems better than the gift card to me. At least it's buying us 4 nights in a studio (2 @ SSR, 2 @ VWL) this summer, with 10 points left over.

Well they didn't call them developer points, but you get the 2007 points which is essentially 100 free points on top of the 2008 points. So it sounds like the same deal. I am talking about an add-on of 100 points as well. Not sure if the deal is different for someone buying in for the first time.

We did an add-on on the last day of our UY last year (Sept 30, 2006) for 160 points SSR. We received: $10 off pp, 160 developer points, 160 2006 points with 160 2007 points hitting the next day; 2 free APs for either WDW or CA and a few goodies like the tote bag, DVC Member baseball caps and trading pins.

There were additional incentives offered if we held current APs (Mickey litho) or Disney Visa Card (reward dollars).

Sept 30th was a Sunday ... our points were in our account by the time we got home later that evening!

We were at Dis the week before Christmas in 2006. DVC was running the 15 year/Friend & Family promo. Had we purchased through DVC, we would have gotten a Dec UY with all 2006 points and all 2007 points for $86 per point ($101 - $15 per point). We also received $100 ($50 for us and $50 for the person who referred us (I can't remember how they gave us the money...I think it was Disney $$$s), fast passes and the typical ice cream.

The difference on 160 points between $86 per point and $94 per point is $1,280 dollars. Since I've been hanging out on the Disboards, that's the best deal I've seen in a year and a half. I thought our DVC rep was blowing smoke to try and close the deal, but when he said it was the best promo he had ever seen, he may have been telling the truth! ;)

I'm confused by your post, so I just wanted to clarify what I meant. Not sure if we're saying the same thing or not. We purchased 160 points. We received:
160 2007 points
160 2008 points (which we don't have until our use year August)
100 developer points

So we walked away with 260 points available for immediate use, and another 160 coming this year, so 420 for our first year of ownership, basically.

The best offer on SSR points goes back to the initial offering when DVC was selling for $79 per point with no closing costs. That isn't going to be repeated here 4 1/2 years later.

The upcoming offer is likely to be some combination of $$$ discount with perhaps Developer's points, APs, and/or gift cards included added. I'm sure they will also be hyping the fact that those who buy from the CA sales center get first crack at the VGC points.

Thanks for all of your posts and "deal" info! I'll be there Friday night so look for a post sometime that night with all of the information!

This was our deal too, and I agree it was a fine one. We've been waiting for one as good (or at least close) since. No luck. They kept saying how great the deals were going to be when "Doorway to Dreams" opened. We drove there from Ohio, were disappointed and came away with no new points.

Free annual passes sound pretty sweet.

:yay: well, wifeypoo and i just closed last week on 400 points at $80/point, with all of 2008 and 2009, plus 200 carryover from '07. Saturday I booked a week in September at Boardwalk which will use the 200 carryover, and will probably bank this years points, giving us 800 to burn next year. So I thought that wasn't too bad of a deal.:cool2:

We added on 120 points in Dec 2005 for $83 per point, no closing costs. Feb UY so only 2 weeks of dues for 2005 points.

Last fall. $94 with 2006 and 2007 points with no dues, 270 developer points (on a 200 point add-on), $500 disney dollars. If you rented all those @ $10 you would have a net cost of $58 with all 2008 points in available.
