for those who are talking about "why didn't Damon notice it was Katherine?"

don't forget, they didn't become vampires until after they had thought Katherine was dead/in the tomb. so if all vampires have different "scents" they probably didn't know what hers was like, to begin with. because they haven't even seen her since they became vampires.

and the other thing i'm wondering is if all vampires just have one certain "scent/sense" so they just know there's a vampire around, just not who.

because don't forget Pearl was killed by a bunch of vampires and she didn't seem to notice, so i'm wondering if since she had a bunch of vampires living with her for a bit there, that's why she couldn't tell she was in danger from other vampires.

same thing with Elena's house. Stefan, Damon, and Anna were all at Elena's house at some point so he might have not even noticed with all of their "scents" lingering around.

Pearl was killed by John, Elenas uncle/father. He shot an arrow through her heart when she opened the front door to leave. Harper was also killed then too. The vampires were gone. She kicked them out of the house.

I think that Damon did not realize it was Katherine because he was not expecting her. He was obviously confused and vunerable at the moment and he was thrilled to finally get Elena. His look was passionate and of someone in love. Only after the kiss did he realize something was not right. I'm sure that he was shocked she returned his kiss but then when she acted very aloof towards Jenna and unremorseful for kissing Damon, he realized something was off. Her kiss was familiar to him. JMO

i'm not saying he didn't think something was "off" but i don't think he thought it was Katherine, i think he gave up on her a little while ago. i honestly don't think he would have let her go in the house had he actually thought it was Katherine.

like i said, he might not even know what her "scent" is if that's what they go by. and there's been other vampires in and out of that house if they go by "sensing" them.

Here's a question... Did Jenna invite Katherine inside? I can't remember. I'm assuming she did, but if she didn't then how exactly was she allowed into the house? Because at that point everyone assumed it was Elena.

She never said a name. Only looked at Elena/Katherine.

Katherine/Elena looked like she wanted to kill Jenna when she walked in the door. But then again, I would too if someone stopped me from kissing Damon

I was at Comic-Con today and saw the "Vampire Diaries" panel (and can I just say Ian, Steve, and Matt.... ) They just finished filming the first episode of season 2 and showed a preview and it looks SO good! I cannot wait to see all of it!
