Hello to all Canadians out there, I am writting this message from the Hampton Inn & Suites in Valdosta, Georgia. So that means tomorrow my family and I arrive in Clearwater Beach and then we are going to Walt Disney World. Anyway on Saturday morning we had got to the Ambassador Bridge around 6:30 AM and had about a 25 minute wait to clear Customs. Anyway my Dad told the Customs Official we were going to Clearwater Beach and WDW. He then says where in Disney are you staying at? We told him the Contemporary and he says why not the Animal Kingdom Lodge? The reason is he said that he stayed there last September with his family and liked it very much. My Dad even asked if he went to Boma and he said yes. So it was a very intresting experience, because what were the odds that we would get a Customs Official who would talk with us about WDW?

We had a similar experience to this when driving to a Nascar race in Dover, DE a few years ago. I'm sure we were driving the people behind crazy because we spent about 10 minutes talking about our favourite drivers.

I forgot to mention for anyone who will be driving to Florida along Interstate 75, that the normal route to the Southbound entrance after clearing Customs is closed because of road construction. So for now you take a detour however they have the signs clearly marked that take you to I-75 South.

Not so strange at the Ambassador bridge -- we've cruised with 2 of the US customs agents there. It's a small world.

Now if they could just talk to the agent at the Rainbow bridge in Niagara Falls who couldn't understand why 2 adults were going to WDW without kids it would be great.

we had the same experience with a Canada Customs Officer, at Bluewater Bridge, when we returned home last year. We stated we were returning from WDW, and she asked where we stayed, if we had any driving tips, where we ate, etc. She said she was a big WDW fan. After about a 15 minute chat (probably freaking everyone out behind us), she waved us through.

Wow! We have yet to meet a nice and friendly U.S. Customs Official.

Maybe all the mean ones work at the Rainbow Bridge

Not so strange!:)

My father drives truck and he is always telling us how much better it is to clear customs out of Windsor/Detroit. (tunnel or bridge)...I guess he'd know as it is an everyday trip for him.

We live in Sarnia and cross often here at the Bluewater Bridges and every once in a while we get a chatty customs official! We even got pulled in once for a random vehicle check and while we waited in the building for our van to pass, they gave DS 4 and DD 2 cookies!:rotfl:
