The unofficial waiting to make Be Our Guest ADRs thread-8/20 7am

My sister and her family who are at WDW now were given a free dessert from the new Be Our Guest Restaurant during the evening extra magic hours on Saturday night at MK. She sent me a picture on facebook. I will try to download it and then upload it to photobucket to post here.

Here is how it happened:

A CM stopped and asked if she could tell them a story. The CM said that Belle was trying new desserts in the kitchen, but was too full to eat anymore and hoped they could help Belle out by trying the dessert. Then another CM walked up and uncovered the huge ice cream creation.

It had chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream. A brownie, a chocolate chip cookie, strawberry shortcake, and 2 ice cream cones, and topped with whipped cream.

That is so cool!!!

That's so awesome!!! This happened to us on our trip at the end of June. Same location, same time of night, but it was Cinderella trying recipes and it was a HUGE strawberry shortcake sundae! It's the little things like this that make it so magical. We don't have kids, and sometimes feel like all the magic is directed at the little ones, so this was really special. I'm so happy to know your family got to feel that magic too!

On an ADR note.... how hard does everyone think it's going to be to get ADRs? Most places are open for them all day, but since BOG will only be taking ADRs for dinner, there will be far less times to pick from which I think will result in difficulty getting one. Especially during the first few weeks/months it's open (which is when many of us will be there!)

Also, has it been reported as to whether or not a service charge will be added to the lunch times? I know other places such as Picabu at the Dolphin or Pepper Market at Coronado Springs have a similar format (order and food is brought to you, or a CM handles your drinks, etc...) and they charge a service fee on their checks.

If I'm not mistaken, those locations are 3rd party which is why there's a service fee. BOG will be a Disney restaurant. Someone can correct me, if I'm wrong.

Sorry, but I just called to make an ADR for different venue and a CM told me August 4th, and that was today 7/31! Dunno if its true or not, but I am hopeful :cool1:: GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Oh no! My stomach is all in knots now. I'll have to leave before the 7am ending of our Relay for Life! Do you think the online reservations will work straight away or are we better off calling for reservations? Aug 4 is a Saturday. Would they do that?

I wouldn't put much stock in that CM's reply. There is a great chance that CM read that info here on Disboards.. If it were really true, it would have been announced in the Disney Parks Blog today. You could call 10 times and get 10 different answers.:sad2:

Ok, I am subbing. You folks have given me a teeny bit of hope that it will be open for our Oct 18-23 trip :)

Smitch - while I 100% agree with you, can you tell me you are not going to get up at 6:50 on Sunday morning and at least check? :coffee: I sure am.

Am I going to be waking up at 5am every morning in August to get this ADR?
Probably.

:rotfl2:

I can honestly tell you that I will be sound asleep no matter what day it is. If we are lucky enough to have it open for our Oct/Nov dates, we would do lunch. ADRs are a waste for us. We can eat steak anytime, we can only ride PoTC 9 days a year. :rotfl:

What time do reservations open - 7am? And they are open on Sundays?

Just to confirm the "randomness" in CM responses, I just called in to modify another reservation. At the end of the call, I asked about BOG. The CM was incredibly friendly and said that ADR's would definitely be available by the middle of August and the restaurant will definitely be open during our trip in early December.

I guess it goes back to checking every morning for now!

I'm just too logical for my own good...

Since the blog post with the menu and such said "late August" for reservations to begin, I thought of counting it down from August 15th (split the difference :) )... 90 days out is December 5th.

Would this be a reasonable guess-timation?

Received a Disney update in my email today and the site stated:

"Beginning in late August, reservations will be taken for the restaurant's holiday opening, so mark your calendars – and bon appétit!"

Of course now we have to wonder what exactly is late August to make the reservations. And make them for when? They still don't say when the holiday opening is so how can you make a reservation?
