I just found this thread but I *loved* the Babysitters Club and SVH! Although, I was more of a Babysitters Club fan...too funny!

I learned so much from those books. Diabetes from Stacy in BSC. Radio station stuff (of all things!) from Girl Talk, Mensa from Claudia's sis in BSC.

Girl Talk!!! I used to read that too. I loved Katie cause she played ice hockey!!

Rora and Julez- I would love to move to FL! I hate the cold weather. I like snow for the first 15 minutes...look! So pretty! Then, I am so over it!
hula- Being a reader is a good thing! I was never one to go to bed early, so my mom always says she was so happy when I could read. She put a book light on my headboard and didn't have to worry about me!
tig and julez- I did have a BSC, but when I was youner, I belonged to The Boopets. We wore Betty Boop clothes, had dues, and intiations (drinking a naty cocotion). However, our main goal was just being mean byexcluding other girls. Ah, kids are so sweet!

Anyway, I've been MIA with midterms and a test at work (I am a server at a high end place and we have tests we have to study for-food, wine, service, etc.). Now, I'll be gone for a long weekend. My sister is getting married in TN this weekend! What will I do without the Dis?!?

Tracey, the Boopets? Really?..... Really?..... lol:lmao: Cute.

OMG. Move to FL!! I live in Sunny South Fl where the coldest it ever gets is about 50 degrees. The beach is 5min from my house and I'm about 2 1/2 hours from Disney World..:yay:.

Hmm.. why doesn't every member move to South Florida? :woohoo: :cool1:

What about hurricanes in South Florida? I've been to Captiva/Sanibel. How far is that from you? I didn't like the rocky/shelly beach and the mean ocean w/storms. I'm more of a gulf girl I think....

Girl Talk!!! I used to read that too. I loved Katie cause she played ice hockey!!

I forgot pretty little Katie was an ice hockey player! :rotfl2: I just remembered her mom married into money and she got to get tailored clothing! princess:

So I'm soooooooooooooo dragging since coming back from vaca. I think I might be coming down with something. Which is strange cuz I NEVER get sick.

Don't want to go to work. No choice though, huh? :sad2:

TTYL

Captiva/Sanibel is like 3 hours from me. I'm on the East.. that's on the West.
Yeah, the hurricanes aren't fun but I'd rather those than tornados or earthquakes. Thankfully we haven't had a bad hurricane this season where I am!!

C'mon.. Disney's close!!! :goodvibes:

Blah Blah Blah

I'm at work and don't want to be. I need to do some filing. Don't want to. Want to moon over our trip and organize pix. Started my TR anyway. Progress! :thumbsup2

Kell, how's things? You haven't been on here!

Sass? Feeling better?

Tracy, did you hear about the new Legoland in Shaumburg? @ Streets of Woodfield. DD's kindergarten teacher told me about it- said it's worth it for a few hours of entertainment. They've got a ride, and a 4-D movie. Even her 5th grade son enjoyed she said.... I want to check that out this next Feb, maybe for the long President's weekend. We'll have to see how Christmas goes....moneywise.

So DD has wanted "Butterscotch the Pony" for the last 2 Christmas' and she still wants one this year. I really want to get it for her. Which sort of leads to my next subject---

DECLUTTERING!

I have this massive need to throw away EVERYTHING in my house. I started going through every pair of jeans and shorts yesterday, this weekend I'm raiding the rest of my & DH's closet, and DD's closet. I want all non-used, out-of-sight-out-of-mind-JUNK out of my house by the end of November.

Maybe it's the thought of moving next year or w/in 2 years, but I really was thinking that we have too too much junk. Especially the kids. So many toys they don't play with. TO THE GARBAGE IT GOES!

Or goodwill for the tax deduction.

Anywho..... anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

I may have ordered a few copies from Amazon this weekend to refresh my mind... :rolleyes1 :rotfl: I'm such a nerd!

I really want to read some of my old SVT books, but all of my old books are stored in a box at my grandmother's house (in another state)!!! I'm tempted to buy some more books, too. So......it looks like we're both nerds!! :rotfl:

Hmm.. why doesn't every member move to South Florida? :woohoo: :cool1:

My bags are packed and I'm ready to move to Florida!!! Could I come stay with you? Don't worry, I don't mind paying rent. Is $5 a week OK? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Rora and Julez

The Boopets!!! That's so cute! By the way, what was the concoction that you guys had to drink?? :stir:

I hope you did well on your midterms and your test at work. :) Have a great time at your sister's wedding!!

Oh, my fellow Unicorns! Oh my fellow BSC-ers! Oh our fellow SVH/SVU alumni!

How did I let our thread drop so low? I have been so busy this weekend, as I suspect many of the rest of you have been.

Today, DD and I took a girls-only day trip to Galena, Il. It is a beautiful little historic town at the Illinois/IA border. It's about an hour-1/2 from our town. It's got gorgeous, unique, awesome shops. Great restrauraunts, great B&B's, and inns. Full of american and architectural history. We ate delicious chocolates, ate yummy ice cream, took a scenic hour-long trolley ride, and browsed all the shops. I found one I'm TOTALLY GOING BACK TO for Disney collectibles..... called "Fairytales Too" and DD got one of those Ty dolls she's been begging me for for ages and ages.

We had a nice day.

What'd everyone else do?

julez- Hi! I'm glad you had a good time in Galena. It seems like a really nice place. As for me......I pretty much did some chores around the house and ran a few errands. Nothing special.

By the way, where is everyone else? This thread has been quiet all weekend!

Still space in the club? I was a total bookworm. I read every one of those series. I always wanted to be Elizabeth with a little Jessica thrown in for fun! :thumbsup2 In the BSC, I wanted to be Kristy with a little Stacy and Claudia mixed in, but in all honesty, I really was more like Mary Anne.

:welcome: Honugirl! Of course, you can join in! After all, since none of us are actually fictional, I guess we're all "honorary" members, really! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry I've been gone so long....I had a few personal emergencies, but they're all sorted out now.

dizkid- Punky was super cool. I loved her nails all painted a different color and her wagon wheel bed.
julez- Yes. The Boopets. It was pretty well established for as young as we were! Butterscoth pony- dd wanted it. I said no way. Not only is it expensive, it is creepy!
rora- It was 54...in my house yesterday! I turned the heat on! Love to move, but I have an x and he'd probably never let me until the kids are grown. Unless he mysteriously disappears...;)
honu- Wasn't Maryanne the first to have a real boyfriend, eventhough she was the "goody-goody" one?

Went to my sister's wedding in TN this weekend. It was a nice weekend, but I spent a lot of time in the car! The kids got to stay down andcontinue vacationing with the grandparents! Lucky! Dh and I have been living the single life a bit. Last night we went to Target and The Oliive Garden! Woo! Wild, right?

Thanks for the warm welcome! :thumbsup2

Yes, Mary Anne was the first one to have a real boyfriend, Logan. Even though she was the goody-goody one. I thought that was kind of funny.

honugirl- Hi!! :wave2: Welcome to the club!

sweetandsassyfl- Nice to have you back! :)

paintnolish- I'm glad you had a nice time at your sister's wedding.

All Unicorns and BSC fans- If any of you are fans of the movie, Newsies, feel free to visit my Newsies thread. The link to it is in my sig.

Hi everybody! :wave2:

I've been woefully MIA as well. Dealing with a messy house and being like this --->

Yuck. I really despise cold weather and impending winter. Hope all is well, Sass.

Tiggerfan, yes, Galena is beautiful. Better yet, I found a wonderful store that sells Jim Shore Disney collectibles at decent prices! :goodvibes

Paint, that's awesome the kids stayed over longer. I haven't had a good length of time without DD in some time. DH's parent's are far away, my bro & SIL don't offer to sit, and my P's are getting up in age, I'm afraid. :guilty: I could really go for a couple days kid-free, that's for sure.

How's everyone else? So quiet around here.

I SWEAR WE DON'T JUST HAVE TO TALK ABOUT SWEET VALLEY TWINS AND BABY SITTERS CLUB BOOKS, ALL YOU LURKERS OUT THERE! :lmao:

I hope that you're feeling better! :flower3: By the way, I just noticed the link to your trip report in your sig. I'll check it out later today. :)

Well, I know that this is a SV/BSC thread, but I was wondering if anyone else read any of the following:

-the Ramona Quimby books
-The Boxcar Children
-Anne of Green Gables (or any of L.M. Montgomery's other books)
-the books about a girl named Collette Murphy by Colleen O'Shaughnessy McKenna (Fifth Grade: Here Comes Trouble, Too Many Murphys, etc.)
-Blubber and/or Are You There, God? It's Me Margaret. (by Judy Blume)

Edit- I forgot to mention E.B. White's books (Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, etc.)

I hope that you're feeling better! :flower3: By the way, I just noticed the link to your trip report in your sig. I'll check it out later today. :)

I read the Ramona Quimby books, all of L.M. Montgomery's books (my favorites), and Are You There God?

Thanks for the warm welcome to the club! :cool1:

I've been MIA, I was really sick yesterday. :headache: Ugh. Not fun. I wish I had some of those books now 'cause they're really easy to read and would keep me occupied!

I did all the Judy Blume, Beverley Cleary books too. I loved them! I watched Ann of Green Gables. That was more my speed than the books.

I need to go find something purple to wear since I'm in the Unicorn Club now! :thumbsup2 :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :upsidedow

I loved Ramona Quimby. I read all of them many times. I even wanted her cute bob hair cut. Thankfully, my mom wouldn't go for that- I have very curly hair! It would not have been cute! I also read many of Cleary's other books, like Henry and Ribsy.

By the way, where is everyone else? This thread has been quiet all weekend!

I was super super busy this weekend! I had a few family get togethers and a weenie roast Saturday night. I spent today recovering from having a few drinks! :rotfl:
Oh and Rora, I'll gladly be packing my bags to get to South Florida. I'm in central Illinois and it's windy and cold! Someone said something about Flurries tomorrow!
