  • Neither- what are they?

Yes, it's the Land & Sea package, with a couple nights added to the end! And of course you can come along! I can just see my DBF asking 'What's a Unicorn Club?' :rotfl:

Did anyone catch the Golden Globes last night? Slumdog Millionaire won EVERYTHING. Has anyone seen it? The only movies I saw that were nominated (besidse KFP and WallE) was Benjamin Button. The other movies never got a big release!

 Thanks for letting me come along on your trip!

No, I didn't watch the Golden Globes. I was too busy sorting my socks...... :rotfl: I hardly watch those awards shows anymore. Most of the nominated movies are ones that I've never even heard of or ones that I would never watch in my lifetime. Sometimes I think, "Did that movie ever make it to the movie theaters or did they just show it once at some film festival?" Take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm a TCM addict.

My weekend was nice-ish!
Friday DFiance called me and was like "Uhh.. my car broke down.."

Saturday, we went to the zoo!! :squirrel: :dog: paw: I LOVE the zoo. We had a great time.

As far as books go, I'm still reading the Twilight series. I'm starting the final book today. Overall, I have to say that I'm not that impressed. It was a good book, fun for a light read but I don't think it's nearly as good as Harry Potter (I know I'm not supposed to compare them..blah blah). Since I'll probably finish this book by Wednesday.. does anyone have any good book suggestions???

We should start a Unicorn Club Book List!! or a Unicorn Book Club..

I'm glad you had a nice-ish weekend! Sorry to hear about the death of your DFiance's car. :sad2: May it rest in peace. That tow-truck guy sounded scary!! I'm glad you survived the trip! Too bad you missed your yoga class. You could have used some stress relief after that experience. :rotfl2: That was sweet of your fiance's grandma to offer you her car.....even though it needs some fixing.

I'm glad you had a great time at the zoo! :)

Don't tell Minnie that you don't really care for the Twilight books. I noticed that she recently "Twilightified" her signature. We don't want to have a Unicorn war!! :rotfl2: Just kidding. I don't know why, but I have absolutely no desire to read those books. Maybe I'm just being a rebel........;) As for a book suggestion.......Have you ever read Rilla of Ingleside? It's the 8th book in the Anne series and it's one of my favorites. Or how about Anne's House of Dreams? That'd be a great book to for you to read, especially since you're in the middle of planning your wedding. It's the 5th book in the series. I'll try to think of more books. I can only think of Anne books at the moment.

I LOVE the idea of a Unicorn book club! :thumbsup2 After all, it was a love of books that brought us all together. :grouphug:

What happened to the siggie? It isn't there on my computer. Did it go away?

I know! I'm so excited! My mom rolled her eyes when I told her he still taught in Houston and I was going to take a lesson from him. She said, "for your first lesson? Isn't he kind of expensive?" Hey, it's a once in a lifetime thing. When am I ever going to be able to learn from him again? If he can teach Cloris to dance, he can teach me!!!!!!!!

I vote for the unicorn book club too! What should we read first?

Yikes! I wonder why you can't see my signature? *gasp* I bet it's those pesky heffalumps and woozles!!

With all due respect for your mom's opinion, I say GO FOR IT!! You may never get an opportunity like that again!!

As for what we should read first for the book club........hmmm......I say we go with one of the classics. Dr. Seuss, anyone? ;) :rotfl:

My Wedding Planning Blog has been Updated!!

And I need all of you. Please take a look at my newest entry, especially read paragraph #2 (it's not actually the 2nd paragraph, but it's labeled- you won't miss it!) I need help choosing a venue at Disney..

Yay! I'm glad that you updated your blog! :woohoo: I'll drop by your blog later on tonight. :thumbsup2

Rora - I love the idea of a small wedding with just the people who matter most to you. I don't think that would ever happen if I married my DBF because he has a huge family and my mom's the type of person who would make sure everyone on our side got invited. :sad2: God forbid anyone should be offended because the bride & groom want something different!

I love the wedding pavilion and I also love Sunset Pointe! I know you're not a beach person but I think it's so romantic :) I've seen pictures of Seabreeze Point weddings. I wasn't a big fan of it. I mean, I've never seen it up close but just from the pictures I've seen, it seems...impersonal, I guess? But to each their own!

Good luck planning everything! I'm excited for you!

Edit: T-Rex Cafe is excellent! The food was great and the dinos were a lot of fun. They weren't scary!! They have an adult size dino and two babies for every breed. The one in back of us wouldn't stop roaring though!!

Thanks for the suggestions!! I think I've read Rilla but I really can't remember. I will have to get Anne books out!! I love Anne.

I totally agree about the books bringing us together.. we're a little nerdy, but Unicorns still the same!! princess: :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for comment you left on the blog!!!

Thanks for checking the blog out!!

I know what you mean about everyone having to be invited. It's a little stressful but I'm just to the point going a little bridezilla and being like "IT's MY WEDDING!" but I don't want to go bridezilla, it's hard!
I also think you're right about Sea Breeze Point.. I've seen lots of pretty pictures from there but after seeing it up close, I wasn't too impressed. The Wedding Pavillion is in the lead!

Enough wedding nonsense!! How was everyone's day? I'm excited about the book club-- anyone else on board, or have suggestions, MINUS Dr. Seuss, Tigger. :rotfl: :thumbsup2

No problem! I hope to get married in Disney one day so I'll be following along!

My day was boring. Work was so slow, it has been for awhile. Actually, last week was ok because we had Disney night and I booked a couple trips. I'll have that to keep me busy closer to Feb when their final payments are due and they start wanting to make ADRs. The one family I booked has never been there before. I'm excited FOR them :)

I'm in for the book club. Anyone like chick-lit? Read Confessions of a Shopaholic!!

Hi, everyone! I hope that you're all having a great week so far!

Thanks for the suggestions!! I think I've read Rilla but I really can't remember. I will have to get Anne books out!! I love Anne.

You're welcome for the book suggestions. :goodvibes Yes, get out those Anne books! They're one of the few books that I enjoy reading over and over.

Yup, we're a bunch of nerdy Unicorns.........but very COOL, nerdy Unicorns! :cool2: After all, we do know how to par-tay!! We're also really good at finding hot guys. An average nerd couldn't do that!

You're welcome for the blog post. Sorry it was so long! Great update!! Can't wait for the next one! :woohoo: I'm glad that you're leaning more toward the Wedding Pavillion. You don't have to worry about the weather and other stuff like that when you have an indoor wedding. By the way, what do you think about having a virtual Unicorn bachelorette party? DIS-appropriate, of course!!!

By the way, what's wrong with Dr. Seuss? Green Eggs and Ham.........that was genius!! :rotfl2: Just kidding. Obviously, I was kidding about reading a Dr. Seuss book for the book club, but I must admit that I'm still a Dr. Seuss fan. You guys will think that I'm a big geek for this, but I might as well make a complete confession. While I was shopping for some Christmas presents a few years ago, I saw a book that had a collection of Dr. Seuss stories. I snapped it up faster than you can say, "The Cat in the Hat". Merry Christmas to me!! :rotfl: :lmao:

As for a book selection......there are so many options. We could read one of the classics (Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, etc.) or one of our childhood favorites. Hey, we could dig up our old SVT books!! No, mine are all in storage in another state (although I could order some new ones ;)). If we can't agree on a book, we could each read a different book and talk about our books here on the UC thread. What do you guys think?

Geez, I practically typed out another novel!! Sorry!

I hope you have Disney wedding someday, Jenny! That would be so cool!

Sorry to hear that it has been so slow at your workplace. I hope that things will pick up. Yay for the family going to WDW for the first time! :woohoo:

Does the Anne series qualify as chick-lit? You may already know this, but I just wanted to let you know that a Confessions of a Shopaholic movie is coming to theaters soon. popcorn::

'm in for the book club. Anyone like chick-lit? Read Confessions of a Shopaholic!!
I kinda go back and forth on heavy chick-lit.. sometimes I feel that I have enough drama in my life without my fictional character's!! That being said, I saw a trailer for the movie and it looks super cute!! I might just have to read it!

I love your novels, Tigger!!

As far as a virtual, DIS Unicorn bachelorette party.. I'm all for it!! We love parties!

I will admit- I love Dr. Seuss too. Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite.

As far as the books go, I think we need to wait for the other Unicorns (where are you girls?!?!) before we decide anything but what you suggested might be the best option!! We can do little book reviews and then maybe inspire someone else to read it!!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!! The weekend is almost here!

I am really really really bummed.

Wedding drama. It looks like Disney is NOT going to work out.. I will post an update later.. :( :( :( :(

.

You Rebel! It's okay if you don't like them and/or have no desire to read them, I'm no Twilight nut that tries to make everyone like them so there won't be a Unicorn war! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is doing well, it snowed here and is really really cold! But other then that, it's okay! I've sucked at keeping my resolution to check in every day here...my class has been kicking my butt! It's so much reading.

Rora- I'm so sorry to hear that your Disney Wedding is not going to work. Hugs to you and hang in there!! Let us know how everything turns out!

Rora- Oh, no! I'm sorry that the Disney wedding thing didn't work out. :sad1: Please let us know what happened. Big hugs from me.

Minnie- Yeah, I've heard that it's pretty wicked in the Midwest and Northeast. Keep warm over there in Illinois. I hope that the weather will warm up soon.

Sorry to hear about your class. Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it. :)

Thank you! I'll invite the Unicorns! Purple is my favorite color after all ;)

Yup, I know all about the movie! I have for months :) It looks ok. I was pumped when the Devil Wears Prada came out but this just doesn't look as good...

Minnie - That's the first Jasper sig I've seen! Everything is Edward, Edward, Edward. Personally, I'm Team Jacob ;)

The Disney Wedding Drama: THIS IS LONG.. I'm Sorry!!
Yesterday DFiance and I called Disney to start finalizing our plans. The planner I spoke to said that our date was no longer available (we didn't put a deposit down-- I can't be mad about this). Okay. So we try for another date. It's not open either. Because I teach and DFiance has a government job, it's a little difficult to completely clear our schedules, plus we have to account for family--since we could only have 18 guests I wanted to be sure they all were going to be there! Basically the planner told us nothing was open for our month, let alone much in 2010. WOW! I guess I should've been more pro-active in getting our deposit in but they make it seem like it doesn't require much planning for an Escape Wedding. So, we say we'll call back when we find another date.

Well apparently everyone has been against a Disney Wedding the whole time. My mom wasn't very apathetic when I told her about the issue and neither was the rest of my family or DFiance's. :( Needless to say, I was very upset. Although I know it's "my wedding", I want everyone to have a nice time and be happy (plus our parents are helping with finances). Then I asked DFiance what he thought about having a Disney wedding and he surprised me, A LOT.
He said that he felt that "it wouldn't feel like we were actually getting married" and that it's a lot of money "for 20 people to eat cake and champagne". I was really flipping mad. Why couldn't he have told me this sooner?! He told me he would still get married at Disney if I wanted too, though.

I got to thinking today and wonder if everyone is right..
I figured out how much it would cost (including dress, outside photo and video, plus hotel rooms, park tickets, gas, the money paid to Disney, everything) and I came up with a number just a little over $10,500. Then I was staggered-- all that for cake and champagne for 2 measly hours?! So from the perspective of finances, I guess you're just paying for "Disney" and that's a lot for the name.

I'm still trying to decide what to do.. I could use the ideas for my home-reception for an at home wedding and spend just as much money, and have real food, and have as many people as I want to be there (although I like the small guest list, my ideal would be 40--to include more extended family and close friends). But still, something makes me want to still do Disney..

What do you guys think?? Do you still think I could have a magical and romantic wedding without being at Disney??
Sorry for the length of this and coherency (I'm a little upset, things don't always make sense, lol!). Thanks for all the hugs and understanding!! :)

ps. Minnie-I love your siggy!! Jasper is so cute.

I'm sorry to hear that the date wasn't available. But why didn't your DFi say anything sooner? He was just going along with it? I know it's usually the bride that does the planning but it's his wedding day too, ya know? I'm surprised he didn't speak up.

You could always have a wedding at home but put a Disney spin on it. Like Mickey & Minnie cake toppers, a Disney song for your first dance, Disney favors. I think you could still make it work. It's going to be magical no matter what. It's your wedding day after all!

What about the sisterhood of the traveling pants for our first book?

Hey Rora- I just read your dilemma and that sucks!

I suggest you have a small ceremony in a chapel or inexpensive venue near home, and then a reception in your home. You can still keep it small, while even doubling Disney's head count! 40-50 people w/a buffet spread?

I think you should put all your creative energy into creating a Disney Dream wedding, and use your extra funds from not doing the Disney wedding into going on your dream Disneymoon. The one thing you will be sure to get at your wedding reception is envelopes full of money!!!! And that would come in handy for any special things you want to do while there! Wishes or Illuminations cruises.... dinner at Victoria & Alberts.... Keys (or other) tours... a photoshoot of you and your new DH at the GF or Yacht Club... OR the ultimate- $$ down for DVC!

But if you def. WANT to be there- you can also look into alternative offerings that are sill on Disney property. For example, the Hilton at DTD, the amazing Gaylord Palms, the Swan Dolphin, the Royal Palms. All of these Disney property, non-Disney hotels have beautiful accomodations.

I think you should do whatever you and DF want, disregarding other's feelings. BUT if you're having help to pay- then you prolly don't have a choice....

For whimsy, I vote no matter what you do, your veil be a set of Bride ears and DF's be a set of Tuxedo ears!

It may seem like I'm doing an awful lot of research for some ELSE'S wedding, but truth be told, I'm planning a 10 year vow renewal in Dec. 2011, so.... I needed the head start!

Good luck Rora. I think you CAN have a fairtale wedding, even if it's not at Disney.

I just watched the movie, that's why I thought about it... :rotfl2:

My smiley's changed too. Some of my favorite ones are hidden now. :badpc:

Minnie- Yeah, I've heard that it's pretty wicked in the Midwest and Northeast. Keep warm over there in Illinois. I hope that the weather will warm up soon.

Sorry to hear about your class. Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it. :)

I've been keeping warm!! Or trying to anyway! It's actually back up to 16 degrees or so, and I never thought I'd hear myself say I was glad to see 16 degrees!! LOL I'm hoping the class will go by fast! Then it'll be spring and time for vacation!!

Minnie - That's the first Jasper sig I've seen! Everything is Edward, Edward, Edward. Personally, I'm Team Jacob ;)

Jasper is the one that dazzles me by far! Edward is okay don't get me wrong, I just prefer Jasper. My Mom LOVES Jacob!

ps. Minnie-I love your siggy!! Jasper is so cute.

Thank you!! I'm so sorry to hear your dilemma. I hope you get everything straightened out and just enjoy your day!

Hey, everyone! The weekend is finally here!! :woohoo:

Julez and Honu- Nice to have you guys back! :wave2: :goodvibes

The Disney Wedding Drama:

That stinks that none of the dates were available. :sad2: That's too bad that your family and DFiance weren't very enthusiastic about the Disney wedding. They should have said something from the beginning! Oh, well. I have to agree that the price is a little ridiculous. Don't worry, you'll still have a wonderful wedding. You're marrying your Prince Charming and that's all that really matters. Your Unicorn sisters are here to help you with your plan B wedding. :grouphug:

You could always have a wedding at home but put a Disney spin on it. Like Mickey & Minnie cake toppers, a Disney song for your first dance, Disney favors.

I love that idea! :) :thumbsup2

Wow!!! Awesome ideas, Julez!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I shortened your quote since it was kinda long, but I loved all of your ideas. I'm happy to see that there are so many other ways to have a Disneyfied wedding. A themed-wedding would be so fun. And a horse-drawn carriage......so romantic!! I'm getting so excited about the Plan B wedding! :cool1:

Has anyone elses sidebar smileys changed?

Yes, and I HATE it!!! Where's the hug smilie and the woohoo smilie? AND WHERE IS THE DANCING BANANA????????? (Great, now I've got to hunt for the mad and headache smilies.) :headache:

I've been keeping warm!! Or trying to anyway! It's actually back up to 16 degrees or so, and I never thought I'd hear myself say I was glad to see 16 degrees!!

Yikes!! :scared: I hope it'll warm up soon.

One last smilie vent: WHO USES THE CLOWN AND JOKER SMILIES ON A REGULAR BASIS??????? :headache: All right, I'm done.

Thanks for all the support everyone!! Julez, you have some great ideas!! I will have to show my fiance that when he comes home. :) Thanks girls!!

As far as our first book, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a good idea!! What does everyone else think??

Enjoy your weekend!!!!

Jasper is the one that dazzles me by far! Edward is okay don't get me wrong, I just prefer Jasper. My Mom LOVES Jacob!

I got seriously annoyed at Bella when I read New Moon. Jacob was so good to her! I knew she wasn't going to choose him but she should have! :sad2:

The dancing banana seems to be the one that people are most upset about! It looks like they kept the top half and changed up the bottom half. I've never even seen the clown one til now!!!
