Wednesday 19th May - Aquatica, Walmart & Magic Kingdom
We got up this morning to find my poor Mum's leg not in good shape at all
The insect bites were very bad and had blistered. They were making my Mum feel poorly, so after a quick light breakfast in the food court, we packed up our bags for Aquatica. I drove us there and my Dad said that me, Simon & Chris should go off and enjoy the waves while he took my Mum off to Walgreen's chemist to try and see the drop-in doctor. He said they'd come back once they'd sorted it.
So we were off, armed with the water camera, as a team of three for a while. We'd never been to Aquatica before so we were really looking forward to trying out some new slides and flumes.
We entered using our Discovery Cove passes and decided we'd better find a map!
Now, it's not totally obvious as to where to actually get changed in this park, so we spent a good 20 minutes debating on what actually were the chaning rooms, before giving up and getting changed in our respective toilet blocks!
We hopped back around to nearly the main entrance and rented up a couple of lockers.
We headed into Loggerhead Lane and had a sail around there in the doughnuts. It was lovely to float by and watch the massive fish in the tanks there. We did quite a few laps around this area just to see the fish each time.
We dragged ourselves and our doughnuts out with us and headed up to the queue for Tassie's Twisters. We'd never done a slide with the 'bowl' ending so we were super excited! We then headed over to the Dolphin Plunge and there wasn't too much of a queue. I have to say, I was disappointed with this flume. It was harsh on our backs, each of us complained that the slide wasn't smooth and there wasn't any chance of seeing a dolphin at the speed you do through the slide
We headed over to Whanau Way and did some more slides over there, including the Omaka Rocka. It's certainly a different type of water slide. Very bumpy as you'd imagine and you pretty much always end up backwards
Shortly afterwards, we sat around the edge of Cutback Cove and waited for my Mum and Dad to appear. Eventually we found my Dad and he told us that my Mum would be joining us, even though they'd bandaged her leg up
She was pretty certain she wasn't missing out!
We'd been on Roa's Rapids earlier in the day, so we decided to take my Mum back over there as we knew she'd enjoy it.
From there we wandered over to the Taumata Racers. Mum said she didn't fancy it, so she was our photographer at the bottom
We decided on the family raft ride next, Walhalla Wave, so that my Mum could join in too. What a great raft ride!
One of the best we'd been on, really fast and high up the sides. Afterwards we decided we'd had enough fun splashing around and we needed to keep an eye on my Mum's leg, so we headed off to get showered and changed.
