Friday December 15
I awakened from my nap and glanced at the clock--almost 6:00 pm, time to get moving! I wanted to be at the Magic Kingdom by 7:30 pm for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I rousted my sleeping DH so we could shower and change while the girls slept a little longer. At about 7, according the clock in the room, we were out the door. When we got to the car, the DH pointed out that it was only 6--the clock in the room was apparently an hour off. We decided to go to the Contemporary for dinner and take the monorail to the MK. The CR was a zoo! There was no way to eat at a sit-down place, so we grabbed cheeseburgers and chicken strips at the food court, which was also slammed (apparently the closure of MK at 6 to prepare for MVMCP caused a big influx of people). I was glad that the clock in our room was an hour ahead; it gave us a chance to put some food in the girls' tummies without having to race around at breakneck speed. We finished, loaded the girls and our junk in the side-by side stroller and headed upstairs for the monorail.
They had an express train running for MVMCP which went in a reverse direction and so bypassed the usual stops at TTC, Poly, and GF. This shaved even more time off our commute.
We arrived at the entrance turnstiles, tickets in hand, and found a rather largish crowd. The weather was warm and balmy (it had been warm, about 80 degrees, during the day). They let us in at 7:30, and we soon found ourselves on Main Street. It was beautiful! Breathtaking! Tons of snow swirled around us as it fell from the sky. The lights and decorations were mesmerizing. Annika screeched with delight as she tried to grab handfuls of the snow. We headed straight dowm Main Street to the castle and Fantasyland, as we were advised to do by veteran MVMCPers. Contrary to what we had heard about previous years however, there were no characters to be seen. Cinderella's coach was on the Fantasyland side of the castle, but no characters were there.
No matter--we headed for the rides! They were all open in Fantasyland and there were NO LINES! We went on Winnie the Pooh two times in a row, no lines, then Peter Pan 3 times, and then Snow White. We went to It's A Small World, had our picture taken (again, no line, we were the only family there), then went on the ride. Annika was thrilled by it, dancing and trying to sing with the dolls.
Next--the parade, Katja gets lost and Mom panicks!
