Yay! Yay! We're on our WAY! "Catch the Pirit, of Pirit Airlines!"
So, it's Saturday morning, and we pretty much expect EVERY SINGLE person from NJ to be on the GSP by 8'ish, which means we should be on the road by 7:30. The bags are already packed in the car [from the night before] and all we need to do is pull into the Rest Stop area on the GSP (around Exit 100) to meet up with my DS and his GF. You see, she and her sisters rented a house in Belmar for the summer, so they decided to sleep there and have one of her friends drive them to the rest stop area. (as we got nearer our destination, my DH called my DS to let him know what exit we were approaching). We pulled in, at which point both Dylan and my DH had to 'use the facilities', which was okay, because, a few moments later, Alexis' friend pulls up directly across from us! Bags in car and hot brewed coffee in hand, we are once again on our way. It's smooth sailing right up to just past Exit 82 (Seaside Heights), where it gets VERY congested, what with the construction and 'all them rich folk what gots houses on LBI'....wow, seriously, they have GOT to widen that exit and bridge going into LBI! I, for one, cannot imagine having to go throught that every weekend if I owned a house there!
....we finally pulled up to the Atlantic City airport and I am pleasantly surprised by the noticeable improvement in the parking situation....no more lonely me waiting for a shuttle back to the airport...car now secure and parked, I caught up with the rest of my party, where they were waiting on the queue to get their boarding passes and check in their luggage - not too long a wait (about 15 minutes)...we then proceeded to the inspection area, where, of course, we had to remove our shoes and whatnot, before heading up to our gate. Of course, once again, we were greeted with that oh-so-familiar smell of fried grease...
...our wait was going to be about 2 hours, so we decided to purchase some mindless reading material - you know the kind I mean, those 'hype' mags, like 'Star' and 'National Enquirer' and 'Us', while some us us got a bit more comfy than others:
...further proof that my DH DOES exist, not to mention that he was really accompanying us:
....actually, I think he was smiling because it was the last day of 'Free Luggage on Board'....
