It all started way back in January with a phone call from my best friend since we were in Kindergarten, Julee- She and her mom, Sandy, had been wanting to take my son to see the mouse since he was born!(he is 8)Disneyland was always a dream for me growing up, as my parents every year had said they would take us and never did for various reasons. Sudenly it seemed like the stars were lining up, and everything was spinning as I said "Yes, let's plan it!" I was so excited- 34 years old, dancing through the house, and squeeling in excitement while my husband watched me and asked what in the world was going on! I cheerfully told him "I'm going to Disneyland!" Of course I meant "we",lol... So after telling my DH about the call, we decided to keep it a secret from our son, until we had the concrete plans all in place... We were planning for a June trip, as both Julee and Sandy are teachers, and I myself am a childcare provider- so the more notice I could give my families that I would be closing the better- this also was the first time in 10 years of providing childcare in my home that I was taking a vacation- and I chose to close for 2 weeks! WOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::rotfl: Within 2 weeks we had our plans laid out, and Julee's sister Anne, also a teacher had decided to join us on our adventure! We decided to drive, since Sandy is a lung cancer survivor and needs to keep her oxygen handy, and they own a full size van that we could all ride comfortably in from Oregon to Disneyland... We also decided to add a day at Seaworld and a day at Legoland to our plans as well... So our plans were all set- we would head out of Oregon on June 14, spend a night halfway down, spend 5 days at Disneyland, 1 day at seaworld, 1 day at Legoland, and another night on the way back home... Now if only the months could go by fast enough!!!!!!!!!!! my husband and I kept the trip a secret from our son and decided to tell him about the trip on April fools day- He was so Excited- and MAD at us for playing such a trick on him! The months flew by, and as we got closer to our vacation our excitement grew! DS and I were constantly reading the DIS boards, we were sponges absorbing all the details we could about every aspect of DL. That knowledge helped us on our trip more than any book we could have gotten! Thanks to all of you! DH and I also decided that he would stay home to look after my farm critters, and that since the daycare was closed and we would be gone, it would be a great time to remodel our bathroom, and paint the living room!(we have a 1940's farm house)..So not only were we busy getting all the trip plans laid out an packed for, but no I was shopping for bathroom fixtures, tubs, toilets, vanities, paint, etc. FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally the day was here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We loaded up in the van and were on the road at 6:30am, headed down I-5.... It was a long journey, and my first vacation- plus I had a brand new camera to try out- so I took over 1000 pics on this trip! Many of which I will be posting!
