The top 5 best tips this NEWBIE got from the DIS

Just got back from WDW for the first time with a 9 and 13 year old.
It was more magical than I ever EVER could imagine. I read so much about the trip, planning, resorts, food, ride plans I was OVERWHELMED...however here are the top 5 TIPS I learned as a newbie. Thanks to everyone for making our vacation fantastic.

TOP TIPS....

1. POWER STRIPS. I brought 2 of these with me...OMG LIFE SAVER. I put them under he window in our resort and it charged our cellphones x3, camera, x3, All the chargers stayed in one place making Packing things up much easier.

2. Dollar Store Glow Sticks...My boys were a bit older but still loved the fact that they glowed at night. We were able to wear more because at a buck a package you can do that.

3. Bagalinni don't know if I am spelling it correctly but that bag was fantastic. Held everything. Easy to get in out our of. Lots of pockets for stuff...Loved it

4. GET UP EARLY...We were at the parks almost 30-40 mins before they opened..Had a plan for fastpasses and what attractions we wanted to hit...Did almost everything by 12 noon. Then we went back to the hotel, rested, hung out by the wonderful pool and then got cleaned up and back out to a park. As we were leaving I would giggle to the people I saw getting to the park at noon....What were they thinking?

5. It's still a VACATION....With all the "must do's" that I read it took me a day or two to realize...WAIT this doesn't have to be perfect. It's okay to get off schedule and look around.

Over all our first trip was amazing. I don't know when the cards have us going back but I do know one thing..WE LOVED IT!

Now I am a chicken when it comes to scary rides so my favs were.

1. Soarin
2. Test Track after I almost passed out in line area...LOL
3. Toy Story Mania
4. Haunted Mansion
5. The 3D movies way fun.

Now my husband and kids....

1. Expedition Everest...They loved it.
2. Rock n Roll Roller Coaster
3. Tower Of Terror
4. Toy Story Mania
5. Test Track
6. The 3D movies

I almost passed out watching them on all of those rides.

I can't wait to go back, soon I hope.

Thanks for the tips! We leave next Sunday and I feel almost overwhelmed with all of the info. I had not planned on taking a power strip, but will go find one to put in the suitcase now. Glad you had a wonderful first trip!

I swear I thought it would be burnt orange!! That would be great if I could borrow it!! We have to get together and you have to show me how to make the shirts, I think I have a mental block because I get so frustrated!! Is it 26 more days to kick off??? Guess what? Sounds like you had a fantastic time. I've been about 14 times (I've actually lost count) but still always appreciate to hear peoples tips ... I always seem to learn something new ... had never thought about taking a power strip along ... we'll have 5 people charging cell phones, plus a couple of cameras and iPods.
I'm already dreading that post-trip depression ... I don't know if I'll be able to come back to the board after our trip until I'm planning our next.

And I'm glad to hear that you loved your Bagallini too, mine just came in the mail and it was smaller than what I expected but once I started putting some of my stuff in it, it seemed bigger..guess looks can be decieving!! Thanks for the tip on the power strip...I'ill add that to my list too. Just got my ponchos and glow bracelets at the dollar store this past weekend!!

Great tip! I would have never thought about it, and yet it makes such good sense! I will have phones, extra cam batteries etc....great idea! Glad to hear your first trip went so well. Where did you stay? We are 5 weeks away from ASMU!

A Baggalini is a brand of messenger bag that many members of the DIS recommend as the perfect Disney bag. Many members have it in lime green as that is the official DIS color. I tried mine out on our trip to Tennessee in July and it worked out pretty well.
