My wife and I and two children (daughter 17 and son 15) will be leaving in about 2 1/2 weeks and I'm finally allowing myself to get excited about it. My wife (bless her) has made all the arrangements, but I remember reading somewhere on these boards about things to do a week or so before leaving. Now of course I can't find them.

We've decided to splurge a bit and are staying at The Boardwalk Inn (albeit in a standard room). I'd love to hear recommendations as to even specific rooms to ask for, or for that matter, rooms to avoid. We definitely would prefer that no smoker was ever in the room (I'm not anti-smoker, but I hate how it can smell up a room and it never goes away).

Also, if we did have a particular room or floor in mind, should we call/fax ahead of time or just ask when we check in? We would prefer an Epcot view rather than a parkng lot view.

What about a mini-fridge? Ask now or when we get there?

Anything else I should be asking now or at check-in?

I loved that spreadsheet someone posted with all the room features and locations, but when I showed my wife she noticed that it was only for the Villas or studios, not the standard rooms.

I would love to hear any specific advice. Unlike some of the posters here, we don't go that often and it's still a very big deal for us. I realize we may never get a particular room, even if someone here recommended it, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

P.S. We printed out that great post about common mistakes people make when going to DW. Excellent tips!

COngrats and welcome. Enjoy your trip. Fridges are standard now in all mods and deluxes.

If you want a specific location, I would request it on your reservation, many resorts are not accepting faxes anymore for room requests. If you have it in the budget, maybe you can have something delivered to your room for your DW and all her planning from the disney florist or someone else. Enjoy your trip. I would enjoy EPCOT for all it is worth, you are close and your kids should really enjoy it.

Hey, you ruined my surprise! Now I'll have to cancel the flowers.
;)

Actually, if it weren't for her doing everything, we wouldn't even be going. For some reason she thinks vacations are important, whether we can afford it or not. :)

Thanks for the advice. When you say to request a specific room or floor in our reservation, does that mean it's too late to make such a request? I know that the arrangements are all set as far as dates (obviously), but do they already know what room we'll be in?
