Weekends have been slow on the podcast board. Its understandable, the fall weather where I live and am right now (more on that in a minute) is unbelievably beautiful so who wants to be inside sitting at a computer?
But for those who are - or who catch a quick minute at the computer - I thought it would be fun to just say hello and ask what you are doing this weekend.
My wife and I are in D.C. for the weekend. We enjoy staying around Dupont Circle and are at the Hotel Madera (through tomorrow).
We had dinner last night at "Teaism" a quaint place off of Dupont Circle which, as the name implies, serves a wide variety of tea as well as lighter fare. I had chicken soup and shrimp rolls, Cathie had lentil soup and rice.
From there we took the Metro to Smithsonian. There is just something romantic about walking down the mall at sunset (trying not to smell the diesel generators from the exhibition on the mall
) and watching the setting sun illuminate the capital building.
Last night was also a full moon so we enjoyed a double feature - the moon rising above the castle - oops, the capital building.
While I never did get a photograph of the moon where it wasn't overexposed (believe me it wasn't for lack of trying)
taking the time to sit by the pool in front of the Grant Memorial, watching the moon rise slowly over the illuminated capital building was, well, magical.
We are still negotiating what to do today - we are leaning toward the park service mule drawn canal boat rides in Georgetown - tonight we have dinner reservation and are hearing Sweet Honey in the Rock.
I hope all have an enjoyable weekend.
