The Tale of the Grow Walk ….Hunh?

Continuing my walk around the island.

Don’t you just wish you were here right now?

I then got on the tram to take me to Serenity Bay. I had never visited there before and I wanted to check it out.

I got off the tram and made my way towards the beach.

I think they have plenty of time to change the amount of photos allowed again before I get to post the next instalment of my trip report. My laptop is sick.

Oh boy, do I wish I was at Castaway Cay at the moment. I am glad you made it out to Serenity Bay.

Corinna

It looks pretty breezy that day. Were you just early or is the wind the reason the umbrellas were not open yet?

Ahhhhh ....... Serenity Bay ........ can't wait until we will be back (well, in a little over 8 weeks ;)) I just love that little piece of heaven. Thanks for making me homesick. :rotfl:

They did change it back to 25...which makes me happy. I hope your laptop recovers without much cost.

it was very breezy...and I was early so it could be a little bit of both.

I thought it was nice, but not a place I needed to be. if that makes sense... I think with adults only I would have fun, but I wouldn't miss it by not being there when family is with me.

This area was MUCH smaller than I thought it would be.

Not many people here yet.

I wandered around and took some more pictures of the area.

The tram I had rode in on was actually still there and I thought about just jumping right back on, but I decided to take a few more pictures before going back.

Trying to get a bit artsy with the bikes.

The tram had left so I took some more pictures while I waited for it to come back.

I went back and sat on the bench and waited for the tram for a few minutes.

It was in no hurry to leave at all, so I sat on it for a bit before we headed back. I think I was the only person going back.

Now don’t hate me….but I was just not impressed with the adult area. It wasn’t bad; it was just so much smaller than I thought it would be. Now I am sure if I was there with friends and didn’t have to worry about kids I may enjoy it more. I think on my own, or even with just Skip, we would find it boring.

I got off the tram and walked around the shops.

I was playing with focus points and taking several shots.

Too early for a beverage but I like the way they look all lined up.

Serenity Bay may be smaller than you expected, but for us it has one HUGE advantage .... it's QUIET! No noisy kiddos running around screeching their head off. :rotfl2:

And even though it is a small area, I have never seen it completely full. It is very leisurely and no line for the buffet either. ;)

I was really far behind...Like before Christmas. I loved you pictures at AK and MK. Skip is so....well...like a man! You love em but can't stand them or understand them at times. I really don't like Sanford Airport. I think it is laid out strange. I personally rather fly into MCO. I just have to decide where I want to fly from. Roanoke, Greensboro, Raleigh or Charlotte and then see what the best fares are.
Seeing your pictures makes me want to cruise again!! I am scared!! I went into a Meniere's flare that lasted over a year after my last cruise. Not sure if it was the flu or the cruise that started the issues. I am thinking about a shorter cruise-3-4 days rather than a week although I loved the Eastern Caribbean itinerary. Got to think this through. Our Castaway Cay day was in December and we got in but every thing was closed because of the high winds.

Gorgeous pictures Jen. It's so nice to see them. I haven't even started editing mine from October. I need to get cracking.

I totally agree with you about Serenity Bay. Denny and I headed right there, but when we went to the family beach later in the afternoon we were like "Whaaaaaaaat? This is SO much nicer". Next time we go I am skipping Serenity Bay all together. The other areas are much cooler.

We love serenity Bay, but we are not the kind of people who enjoy just hanging on the beach. Apart from when we go to get food, we are in the water.

I agree with @dizneeat and @dolphingirl47 about Serenity Bay. I guess it really depends what you want from a beach. I love it that I can feel as if I am a true Castaway and far away from any civilization. I love it that there is nothing to do besides sit at the beach, have a drink, float in the water and eat lunch. I also prefer the view from Serenity Bay as there is no wall in the water, you can look out over the ocean. There is also the sand bank out there and it is fun to walk/swim out to the sand bank and then sit there on the sand or in the shallow water kind of in the middle of the ocean.

But I can see that someone who prefers there to be more things to do would consider it boring. We usually spend most of our time there and on the way back to the ship stop at Pelican Plunge for a few trips on the water slide. But that's enough for us.

Beautiful pictures!! We were there the same time as you. I looked for myself in the background of your pictures, but I didn't see myself :)

Beautiful pictures! Castaway Cay is such a gorgeous place. We never made it over to Serenity Bay. I was curious to see what it looked like, so I'm happy to see your pictures. I was happy hanging out at the family beach with my kids and never felt the need to leave that area. I was worried it would be crazy with kids running everywhere, but it was a very relaxing day!

Very true.

That would be a perk...I do like to eat!

Typical man is right!

I don't mind the airport as it is small and I like that...but I never think it's really cheaper going through there and then you have to rent a car if you are staying on property.

I hope you can get back. I just love cruising.

Well what are you waiting for....is that darn job getting in the way again? :headache:

There is a lot more to do on the family beaches. I am not good with just sitting much either...especially if I am hot.
Though I do have an adult cruise planned next year and we may spend some time there.

We love serenity Bay, but we are not the kind of people who enjoy just hanging on the beach. Apart from when we go to get food, we are in the water.

Yeah....I am not good with sitting on a beach...not I might not mind sitting in the water and gossiping with friends though. :chat:

I do think I would like the sand bar with friends.

I am not big on water slides either.....I do like to move around a lot...take pictures and a little time in the water. maybe a nap. :rolleyes1

How cool! It would be neat if you found yourself in a picture.

I guess when you have kids it probably doesn't bother you so much. I have gotten good at tuning them out. :cutie: Though by doing that I have agreed to things I shouldn't have with that automatic yes. :smooth:

I did some shopping.

I LOVED this dress but I wasn’t sure it would fit Claire and it was pricey. I was going to show it to her later and I totally forgot.

They had adult versions too, but I wouldn’t look good in that style.

I believe I did buy myself a t-shirt and magnet and started to head back towards the ship.

Again I played with focus points.

I noticed all the lifeboats were slightly lowered.

I passed by my boyfriend….er….um…I mean Captain Jack Sparrow.

I then headed back on the ship to our room where Skip and Claire were up and ready to head out to the island. Skip had ran to Cabanas to get Claire some food (mainly bacon) so she was ready to go. I switched out cameras and packed our bag and we headed off the ship.

Since I had already done some exploring we took the tram.

I had reserved floats for us so we went to get those. Actually I thought I only reserved 1, but we had 3 tickets, so somewhere along the line either I did it wrong or Disney read it wrong. It was no big deal really.

We found a spot to put our things and Claire and Skip headed right out to the water.

I followed…..the water was a bit chilly but not too bad.

We just floated around and relaxed.

Once again you did a wonderful job with the pictures. They make me want to hop on the boat the sooner the better. The beach pictures were especially eye catching.

More great updates. I would LOVE Serenity Beach...like Karin said, no kids. Don't get me wrong...I love kids, but I love my "peaceful" time too.

I love shopping with you as you went from spot to spot.

Glad to see that DH and DD finally got up and were ready to go. Nice that you got three floats for possibly the price of one. :)

I can't believe that Skip and Claire were being lazy bones and didn't want to get off the ship yet. Even John who isn't a fan of "rise and shine" was ready to explore the island when we cruised.

I had absolutely no idea that there was a mini-golf course on Castaway Cay! No idea at all!

I enjoyed the photos again. Looks like the store had some pretty nice stuff. I don't think I have ever been in either of them. Claire looks like she was having fun.
