The tale of 2 Happy Anniversary Pins "thank you" An Oct '11 TR NEW 2/25 final thought

Some much needed DIS time right now it has been one of those days and I feel like that is my new phrase in life...remember long ago when all I had to complain about was burnt bagels but for those of you NEW to my little island on the Dis (not that I am painting some sad sob story because it's not, just the waves are very choppy right now) days after our return, Matt had a major setback w/ his spinal condition and was immediately scheduled for surgery and placed on disability from work...surgery was on the 10th of Nov. and today was a huge setback w/ a rushed return back to the ER, he's better now but not out of the woods yet ...besides that our life is generally filled w/ many crazy ups and downs as we raise 4 children, 3 of which have special needs, including Autism...so needless to say I am a very busy lady and need my DIS fix like one needs a coffee fix...so as I recall this trip it will be bittersweet w/ where our road has turned since our return back to the non Disney life...but still filled w/ a sweet joy of the fun and knowing we'll be back if not in 2 months all together, soon enough

Joining in!! Glad your trip down went smooth! I laughed at you guys "abandoning bus" and monorailing from the Poly...that's SO something I would do!

The early morning flights are a killer but it is so nice to arrive early enough to actually get some touring in. Looks like a nice start to the trip. Like the PP pics, good idea to wait for those.

You guys look so happy to be together in WDW! What a blessing it was to go on that trip together right before Matt's surgery, huh? I will say a prayer for him for a great recovery. I get sad just thinking about you going on your trip without him! It will all work out in the end, though.

It was probably good that you were running a bit behind schedule. The SW counter at Midway doesn't open until 430am. It was VERY hectic for our flight. We've always made it to the gate with plenty of time to spare but this time I was able to use the rest room, get us some McD's quickly and by the time we were done scarfing it down it was time to board! Didn't help that Greg's carry-on got flagged and TSA had to go through it. It ended up being my Nasal Spray (prescribed) that I forgot to take out to go through the scanner.

Here for this! We are celebrating our one year anniversary in January in Disney, so I like seeing anniversary trip TRs.

Day 1) 10-16 cont. MK fun…

As we left CR we passed by our “welcome home doors”

And another “welcome sign” to the party we couldn’t wait to attend, but were already watching the weather and getting nervous for Tues…

We arrived to MK, I believe right before 1 pm and the first thing we did was go see Mickey! The queue area was EMPTY, just a few people ahead of us. They listed the wait at 10 minutes, if we waited that long. Be good to note the Princesses queue was listed at the usual 45 minute, where they were all standing, unknown to me. We took some pictures in the line:

It appeared that most of the pictures were “magical” if you were standing right under them.

Once in the little room, there was even more cool things to look at:

This new area is very well done; I know my kids will like it!

We got a sneak peek of the main Mouse:

It was our turn and the handlers were telling Mickey how it’s our anniversary and He thought he wanted me all to himself instead of sharing w/ Matt.

It was very cute and we had some great grins and giggles too!

After Mickey gave me back to Matt and we bid our farewells, we headed out for some fun. We marveled at the wonderful Fall decorations along Main Street:

Happy Anniversary “thank you”

It wasn't quite a walk on, but didn’t take long at all. We got the front row and noticed it looked a bit wet…hmmm

We snapped an illegal flash shot of Nathan’s favorite Pirate in the ride, not Jack but Bill. Don’t ask me how he knows this

Up next was the Carrousel:

We saw this neat Brass Band playing near SWSA:

Happy Anniversary "thank you"

We then had our first DISmeet of the trip w/ Parla and her family…two Pirates, a mermaid and one nice Diser. We had a short chat outside the back of the castle before their CRT lunch, they were already a bit wiped from the morning and in need of a break, but I was glad to meet her and chat a bit w/ her son Alex.

We said our goodbyes and then headed to the Tea Cups, not before I noticed this:

Ok I know I am so bad…Matt snagged another shot of this ladies lovely Halloween hair-do, no one can say she wasn’t festive

Once again the line wasn’t that bad, and we got on pretty quickly. We snagged a purple or maybe green (OR blue that’s how it looks in the picture LOL) cup and got ready to spin!

This was fun and no one saying “too fast”…Ok maybe I did once

We next headed over to see Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This had quite the crowd, but the next show was just about to begin. We followed the rule of going all the way down the aisle…unlike some bad guests…This show is so fun; I love the music and clips. A great sit down break.

Next up was one of my favorite rides: IASW

…this was probably our 2nd longest wait of the day (the longest hadn’t happened yet) and we yet again encountered a few rude guests doing their own version of line cutting…but we had a merry ride and noticed something we had never seen before entering the ride area:

Hmmm interesting? I noticed one boat doing it and was pretty sure if those crazy Spectrum Moms were w/ us we would have.

Day 1) cont. finishing up our MK time …

Sometime during all this riding I think even before our meet w/ Parla I had received that room ready text w/ a room # 7914…I was giddy as a school girl and just knew we’d be able to see the castle little did I know how awesome it actually would be…

I last left off w/ us coming off IASW and we next headed to the ride we would ride the most this trip…Haunted Mansion of course!

We checked out the new queue, the line wasn't too crowded, but crowded enough you couldn’t really mill, and maybe that’s why I wasn’t overly impressed.

We got our spook on and I attempted to snag a pix of my alter ego for the week:

We also got stuck on the ride for a few minutes w/ the new hitchhiking ghosts…now that was cool!

Next up was the Tiki Room. I haven‘t been to this in years, but Matt has always enjoyed it and was eager to see it w/out the pestering Iago and Zazoo.

Happy Anniversary “thank you”

He liked it, but for me it’s like Ellen’s Energy, can skip that for the next 5 trips…sorry

It was getting late (as in park closing soon for MNSHHP) and we knew we had time for just a few more things…one of which is a new trip MUST…getting Dole Whips! This WAS the longest line we stood in today and maybe for the rest of the week…it was actually a bit HOT so it was well worth the wait. And as we waited we got to see several guests walking by dressed up for the party that evening. I wish I snagged some more pictures, we saw some good ones, like one family of little green alien men!

With our Dole Whips (Floats) in hand ($9.57) we walked back toward Fantasyland and took a break and did a bit of guest watching where I snagged this shot:

Then off to SWSA…where we saw a bit of competition:

We made our way out of the park but not before getting some PP pictures:

And we did a little shopping too. I was looking for Halloween Stuff, but unfortunately a lot was already picked over. We also had a bite to eat at Casey’s Corner, a first for us. I wasn’t real hungry so just got the corn dog nuggets and water. Matt got the hot dog meal w/ fries and used the topping bar ($15.52). The best part was the hot cheese sauce. Here’s some food porn for ya:

It was now time to say good-bye and head to BLT…

We enjoyed the new HM queue but I think mostly because the kids loved it. We were in line with Kathy & Billy. Our boys & Billy were really having fun with all of the interactive stuff. I really LOVED the new hitchiking ghosts!
