Hi all! So far, this week has been pretty decent to me! I went out for a trail run on Monday. About a mile in, I crossed paths with a woman out for a leisurely stroll. She never even glanced at me, so I didn't go out of my way to acknowledge her either. I just continued on my way. I ended up passing her again on my second lap. She had gone approximately 1/2 mile, while I had run about 2.5 since I had passed her. On this passing, she saw me and exclaimed, "Wow, you're really fast!" To which I thought a couple of things:
1) that was the nicest thing I have heard while running, and
2) she was completely lying
Now, I know I will never, EVER, be confused with a fast runner, but I must admit that this simple comment was the best motivator I could have possibly had that day. It's amazing how far a little pixie dust can go
Today I completed my last long run before my W&D 1/2 next Saturday. I decided that if I thought I could make it the entire 13.1 miles that I would try it, but I wasn't going to push past 10 or 11 miles. Well, I ended up going the entire half marathon distance! Plus, I was running on a trail, so it was much more hilly than I'm expecting the W&D to be...AND I ended up finishing in less time than I was allotting for my race pace! So I am hoping that this is a good sign and that I will be a little quicker come race night. But even if I'm not, well, at least I know I won't have much of a problem covering the actual mileage.
Tapering has never sounded any better!
