I'm sure I read before of someone going on one of these and staying near DLP but I can't find it.

Did I imagine it or has someone stayed at a park near DLP if so which one was it?

Thanks in advance. :beach:

I think both Captain Jack and RachB have stayed at a campsite or 2 near DLRP with the Sun, although one is about an hour away I think. Berny Riviere? Or something like that. Sure they'll be along soon.

We have stayed at Berny Riviere a few times but not through the Sun offer

Hi,

It is definately the bernie riviera, we stayed there 2 years ago for 5 days followed by 4 days at disney. The drive was approx 1.15hr and very straightforward.

We were lucky to get the same site this year through the sun holiday at a hugely reduced cost :cheer2: This means we will be able to stay at the Disneyland hotel for 4 nights this time:goodvibes

Thanks guys - am going to start collecting the tokens then and see if I can get it.

Janet - as you have to put a number of choices down did you have a plan B if you didn't get that camp or would you have just cut your losses and not gone?

Ruthie on the Sun offer you'll have Le Chenne Gris and International.

Le Chenne Gris is about 15 minutes away and International is about 45 minutes away.

If you look at the trip report threads my trip in October was through the Sun at Le Chenne Gris. We have booked to go back there for a week in May so it couldn't have been that bad :-)

If you need any other help then feel free to PM me

there are actually 4 sites on this offer,in Paris area

AREA 2 - PARIS

1) La Croix de Vieux Pont Berny-Riviere Paris ( have stayed here twice with the sun already, and going again for oct half term 1 hour drive from Disney )

2) Le Village Parisien NEW Varreddes Paris

3) International Paris

4) Le Chene Gris Pommeuse Paris ( the one cap'n went to ,15 - 20 mins drive from Disney )

we did try to get Chene gris for oct, purely for being closer to disney!

but la croix is a lovely lovely site,we really enjoy it there :)
the drive is very straightforward,we leave early in the morn and arrive back late @ night ( so miss a lot of the traffic i think!)

Have to say though that having camped at Le Chene Gris in 2007 wouldn't recommended that option - seems far better if you have a caravan / mobile home or use the onsite accommodation. Site was fine though from what we saw of it! Used it as a base for Disney!

Would have said Le Chene Gris is more like 25 mins away from the park if your thinking of staying there! Not a lot around there although bakers in local village, an Intermarche less than 5 mins in the car in the village up the hill along with most other shops.

Hi Ruthie

Plan B would have been to book direct with site via keycamp or another operator. The site is such a wonderful site for both kids and adult alike with a lot s to do on site as well as some wonderful places to visit very close by.

We deliberately put the disneyland part of our holiday at the end so we would end our hols on a real high.

Hope this along with all the other post helps you with making your decision.:)

The Sun holidays are all based in the mobile homes.

I'm not sure what way that was but it never took us more than 15-20 minutes even during the week at rush hour, maybe I just drive faster than everyone else :goodvibes

I've also been looking at the Sun Holidays, as I'd love to go again for Halloween and it looks as though we could do a weekend 23rd October, it says 3 night weekend breaks so I'm assuming that's Fri, Sat, Sun ?
Also looks like Le Chêne Gris is the best option for visiting DLP from a driving point of view, did notice that it mentions a train station close by would anyone know if a train direct to the parks is an option ?

How likely are you to get the date you want, really it is just that one date and that one site I'd be looking at, can you do that and hope for the best ?

Just one more thing, do you book the ferry travel with the Sun or arrange your own ?

Actually thought of something else, what's the heating like in these units, I went to Exmouth once in October in a caravan and don't think I've ever been so cold. :cold:

In a word FREEZING !! lol

there is a gas fire in the lounge area but no heating in the bedrooms ( berny riviere anyway dont know about chene gris)

when we go again in oct we are taking small heater/s for the bedrooms

also the french sites only have blankets, not duvets ! so bringing our own again

plus fleece PJs for the kids, thermals etc

you get the picture :rotfl:

its cheaper to book the ferry yourself i think,it was for us when we went by ferry twice

we go via eurotunnel now though ,use tesco deals :thumbsup2

I'm getting my mum to collect these for me. Just need someone to drive LOL.

Yes I agree - we stayed at Berny Riviere in March and Ive never been so cold.

We had taken our duvet and had that plus 2 blankets over the top. We also had small individual fleece blankets and I wrapped myself in mine under the duvet and wore several layers and was absolutely freezing

The train station is right outside the camp site however in the whole 5 days that we were there we didn't see or hear a single train coming or going from the station. There were cars there by 7:30am so there were definatly some trains running but it's so rural that I'd imagine that they are few and far between tbh.

It was very cold in October in Le Chenne Gris. Take your own blankets and pillows and that should help!!

We have applied for October and we are just giving one date and one park, worst they can do is say no!

Bear in mind that Le Chenne Gris closes at the end of October though.
