The strip steak at Flying Fish is absolutely amazing

I just got back home from our trip and even though I'll be making a proper trip report, I felt the absolute need to immediately mention just how bloody amazing the strip steak is at Flying Fish!

I make excellent steaks at home, I'm a good cook and I've developed the proper technique to get a perfect medium rare edge to edge AND a perfect sear on BOTH sides of the steak. As such, anytime I order steak at a restaurant I end up disappointed 90% of the time.

But not at the Flying Fish!

The portion is huge, the seasoning was stellar, it had a delicious char (on a single side though) and was cooked perfectly.

And the sides??? Ohmygerd, the sides !!! The layered potato side was mind-blowingly good and the green beans were also perfectly seasoned and cooked with a great crisp still on them.

The entire dish was expertly executed.

In 2025 I dined at Narcoossee's, Topolino's, Jiko (multiple times), Tiffins as well as the Brown Derby and I must award my top honors to the Flying Fish. I just booked a single night at BCV on our Treasure disembarkation day next year so I can make a final stop at Flying Fish before returning home. I will be dreaming about that steak until then multiple times I am sure. It's quite simply the best steak at WDW after I've tried them all. And I'm a ribeye person!

I honestly wouldn't have thought a restaurant called the Flying Fish could have a great steak, let alone one of the greatest

Flying Fish produced the best piece of fillet in my life, too. The knife really did go through the flesh as though it was soft, soft butter! While I always take subjective reviews with more than one grain of salt, any FF rave is justified. It has been on our ‘must do’ list every trip for quite some time. A lovely evening is just about guaranteed … and a nice bit of beef!

We think it's the best steak on property (excluding Capa, but while on property, that's not Disney). A few years ago our server recommended it, while odd it was the number one suggestion at a fish place, we went with it. It was the best recommendation ever, I couldn't believe how good it was! Last year we ate at Narcoossee's and Flying Fish within days of each other, and I tried the strip at both, and Flying Fish was sooooo much better than at Narcoossee's. According to our server, one of the secrets to how good it is, is they coat it in rice flour.

It's a Char Crusted steak.

Personally I loved the heavy char on it, it's like I cook it at home.

Many people would not like the amount of char on it.
