How did you guys survive??? Where were you. I heard it was one of the worse ones they ever had.

We were luckly enough to be in our room. But let me tell you it was rocking and rolling out there.

We just came out of the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club when the storm really began to blow.

We stood under the covered walkway, against the building for quite a while. Slowly, with each gust of wind we were getting wetter and wetter. Everytime we started to head inside, a brief lull appeared in the storm and we started back towards the parking lot. But, before we would get to the end of the walkway, the storm picked up again.

Finally, it began raining sideways. In one big rush of wind and rain, we were soaked through from head to toe. We waited another few minutes, and then gave up. We squished our way out to the car and drove back to ASMusic.

We never made it to the Contemporary meet at all. We wondered down to the ASMusic Food Court at about 11:30 and traded with some diehard folks until about 12:30. So, at least we fit some pintrading in that evening.

It was quite a storm! I've never seen lightning quite that bad before. We made it to the tram station at Epcot (trying to get to our car to go to the meet at the contemporary). We were there for almost an hour. All the trams stopped, they closed the monorail and the buses to and from Epcot stopped. The lightning was so bad we were afraid to leave our cover at the Tram station, even though we were basically outside and would have liked to get over to one of the stores. Everything was fine until that wind and sideways rain came, and we got soaked too. We had a great time though, talking to the other people there with us -- the tram driver stuck under there with us told us that he would be collecting E tickets when we left. We thought the special effects were great. A castmember told us later that a tornado touched down behind the Norway pavilion.

The entire CT Contingent was over at the Polynesian eating dinner. I haven't seen rain like that since Hurricane Gloria hit CT in 1986!! :earseek: They had shut the Monorail down and we were late for the Contemporary meet.

We were stuck in World Showplace. We were in line buying our pins, then in line for the artist signing. They kept making announcements that they did not want anyone to leave the building. We could hear it pounding the roof. Want to know the worst part? They ran out of food! No hot dogs, no pizza, no pretzels, no soda.. only cookies and beer! :) We finally got tired of waiting, and by about 9:15 pm, the rain wasn't bad so we headed on home. Since we were stuck inside, we didn't get to see how bad it was. Heard that a boat got blown across the lagoon in World Showcase!

Dar :bounce:

I was just getting the EpCot parking lot when the rain started getting hard. We had been to dinner and needed to get our pins... What should we do it was lightening and hailing but dang we needed those pins we would never make it if we waited until the rain stopped...

So my fellow Disney Pals and I looked at each other and decided this was as good as it was going to get... So out we jump with no slickers, no umbrellas, and start our dash to the first cover we can get to...

We made it to the cover and rested briefly then off we went again. Racing in and out of buildings through streams calf high in many places. Soaked to the skin with our precious pin bags and backpacks in plastic Disney sacks we had gathered along the way and leaving stunned people behind sheltering from the storm at each new venturing out with calls of good luck said loudly and man are they crazy whispered we ventured on the last mad dash from the opening of world showcase to the pin event. jogging and staring down so that we could at least see the water we were walking in we made it... Standing in the doorway of the Hall creating HUGE puddles all around us the look on all the other pin persons' and just people sheltering from the storm was priceless...

Later when we had a chance to think about the stupid chance that we took we were appalled but at the time it seemed like the pins were worth it....

We were so wet that we had to go to the bathroom and wring our clothes out and we still looked like drowned rats.. But dang it we got our pins...LOL

Figgy!!
Did you know that lightning hit Spaceship Earth five times that night, and the Electric Umbrella tables blew across the walkway past Pin Central. (A cast member told Peggie yesteray.) You are soooo lucky you didn't get hit.

And by the way, I watched Figgy's arrival at the Contemporary later in the evening, and the visit to the rest room for wringing did not help much. She still looked like a drowned rat. lol
