I'm curious where everyone hangs their stockings!

We really don't have a good place to hang stockings in our new house... no fireplace mantle, no staircase ledges, no large bookcases or pieces of furniture... so I am hoping for some inspiration!

My sister doesn't have a fireplace, so my mom bought her this cute wooden sign. It has a Victorian Santa holding a sign that says, "And the stockings were hung", and there are pegs to hang the stockings on.

I have a mantel, but my friend has one of those over the door towel hook things and uses it in her window near the tree. Her windows are tilt in so she is able to do it in the bottom half. If you dont have tilt in windows, I suppose you could use a wreath hook in the top half of the window. Those hang down farther.

Good luck!

Hmm... I wonder... I bet I could make an over the door hanger for the stockings! Think of two wreath hangers put together. :thumbsup2

Next to our Chimeny

OP I know a lot of people hang them on there tree or right beside them

We hang them above the loveseat. I have 2 mirrors near that and a painting I did as well. The stockings look perfect right below the painting. It works out pretty well, all in all.

The kids are hung on their doors(hallway side). I use wreath hangers.
Mine and DH's are just put out on Christmas Eve, not hung.

Since we don't have a fireplace. :sad2: Wish we did!! We hang out stockings over the front door since it is never used or opened.

I don't do anything fancy with ours lol...just hang them aka thumbtack them next to each girls bedroom door. Its the first thing they check Christmas morning when they run outta their rooms lol.

My kitchen has cabinets that extend into the dining room. There are cabinets in there above the bar area. They have handles in the center of them, and that's where we always hung our DD's and DS's stockings when they were little. Now, that's where the grandchildren's stockings go. :goodvibes

No fireplace here either... I miss having one!
I use those command hooks and hang it below the pictures on my wall.
It looks nice and I wish I could find coupons for those darn hooks, I use them a lot! :)
Great thread!

EDITED TO ADD: I did find a coupon duh!!! Sharing with hopes it helps someone. I must remember google is my friend, google is my friend.... lol

Ours have always been hung by the chimney (on the mantle) with care. Before we had hooks installed, we hung them on the fireplace tool rack next to the fireplace.

One of my friends family hung their stockings on everybody's bedpost, so they could do stockings as soon as they got out of bed in the morning.

We don't have a fireplace (our next house will!) but we do have a half wall in the entryway with a nice oak wooden "topper" on it.

We hang our stockings there. :santa:

Do they REALLY remove as easily as they make it sound? My DH would kill me if it took off paint or peeled away drywall!

In our old house, we had no banister or fireplace, so we hung them from a windowsil. I had cute stocking holders and they hung right between the sofa and the windowsil. (It was a small, decorative window, not full size)

In our new house, we have a pretty staircase. I think I'll hang them there. Still no fireplace! :sad1:

comand ashesive hooks are going on sale buy one at 3.59 get one free at walgreens day after thanksgiving. I have used them before but be careful what kind of wall you use it on. My cruddy rentals walls cant handle these (they take off chunks of wall).

we use the command adhesive hooks and they haven't taken any paint off, but I guess it really depends on the shape of your paint and walls.

We have stairs with short bannisters. I wrap these in garland, then hang the stockings from the garland. It could work anywhere you can wrap with garland, wouldn't have to be stairs.
