A good friend of ours (Peter), has a big 9' spruce Christmas tree in his livingroom. He cut this tree down from another friend's (Gary) backyard. Gary wants to build a shed and told Peter if he came and cut the tree down, he could have it.
Gary has a dog. The dog uses the backyard and Gary rarely cleans up after him. Peter cut down the tree, dragged it through the yard to the driveway, tied it to the roof of his van and home he went.
Peter struggled to straighten, trim, and tie the tree in it's place of honour in the livingroom. With that done, a cold and tired Peter made some coffee to warm himself up. The tree warmed up too.
Peter's wife Melodie came home about an hour later. She had barely taken her coat of when she stopped, and called out to Peter, "What the h*ll is that smell?" Peter came up from the basement and he too noticed right away that the beautiful spruce he'd cut down was not filling the livingroom with the scent of Christmas he had hoped for.
Peter spent the rest of the day wiping off each branch of his very large tree.
It was suggested to Peter that taking the tree down, tying it back onto the roof of the van, and going through the car wash, might of been easier.
Poor Peter
