The plan this morning was to head over to Epcot for early morning attractions, then go to Disney Studios for the rest of the day. We got started a little later than we had wanted, but no major problems. Of course, when we got to Epcot, we made a beeline for Test Track. Apparently everyone did the same. There was a 45 minute wait by the time we got there, and not wanting to be locked into the park for the whole morning, decided to forego the Fastpass & wait it out. We waited a little over half an hour and then heard the unmistakable sound of screeching brakes over our head, followed by the dreaded announcement âÂÂTest Track is closed â come back later.â Oh well.
So it was on to Wonders of Life for Body Wars and Cranium Command (what a fun show that is!). The line for Spaceship Earth was unbelievably long at that point so we passed it up to get in the line for the bus to Disney Studios. Man â and we thought the lines INSIDE the park were long â the line to go over to the Studios was gigantic. Buses came & went, came & wentâ¦finally we got over there about 11:00. There were so many people! Of course, we knew this would be our busiest day so we put on our happy faces and made the best of it. Rode Great Movie Ride & Backlot Tour before our lunch ressies at Sci-Fi Dine In. We had never eaten there before and enjoyed it. I had heard some bad things about the food, but I thought the BBQ Chicken sandwich was very tasty.
Right after lunch, we saw the Indiana Jones show (which the kids really enjoyed â they didnâÂÂt get to see it last time we were here) and then to the Animation Tour. Our big priority was getting a good seat for the second showing of Fantasmic, but since crowds had greatly diminished, we decided to go for a spin on Star Tours quickly. When we came out, it was dark, so we thought weâÂÂd go over to the Osborne Christmas lights. The snow was lovely and the lights (what we could see of them from New York Street) were beautifulâ¦but hey, here were all those people missing from the other sections of the park! Fearful that the rest of this crowd would head straight for Fantasmic, we agreed to pass walking through the lights (we have a pretty neato light show back home) and go get in line (stopping for MuppetVision 3D on the way, with no wait.)
We waited a long time, but were close to the front of the line and the weather was beautiful. Jack & I were so excited â last year when we were here, all we could do was talk about how much we wanted the kids to see Fantasmic & now here we were! We got great seats, right in the middle of the Mickey section. The show was still breathtaking â the kids loved it. It's Disney's best, I think. Then we got chatting with a CM who was picking up trash & then with a CM who was selling merchandise in the theaterâ¦by the time we actually left, we were the last non-CMâÂÂs in the theater!! A slow leisurely stroll back to the doorâ¦with the park almost to ourselvesâ¦was a lot of fun. We caught the bus back to the resort and are so happy with the idea that tomorrow, we can sleep in. Right now, those are mighty lovely words.
TomorrowâÂÂs plan: Shopping at Downtown Disneyâ¦Cirque du Soleil at night.
