Good afternoon, all. I'm in Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach today, and I totally forgot that the Wonder was coming back from drydock. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the Wonder was in port as well as the Magic! It's tied up in an industrial area of the port, east of the web cam. After all, the Carnival Glory and Holland America Zuidaam are also in port. I'm going to Jetty Park to watch the Magic sail... I hope the Wonder goes out too to do the dueling horn thing.

Cheers!

They did the dueling horns as the Magic sailed out of port. I was lucky enough to be talking to DD at the time so I got to hear the horns here in Texas.

I wanna go back! Sometimes I believe my DD is the luckiest person in the world to have a great job on MAGICal and WONDERful ships. The rest of the time, I KNOW she is.

I got up this morning and saw the Wonder from my veranda on the Magic. I was so excited since its so rare that they are together. I've only been home for a few hours and I'm ready to go back to my boat already.

I was at Jetty Park as the Magic sailed. The Wonder was tied up far enough down the channel that I couldn't hear the Dueling Horns. Glad to hear they indulged in that, though.

Interestingly, although they did not sail out to sea together, the Wonder did sail. About 45 minutes after the Magic sailed, the Wonder sailed out of port. I was on the beach still watching the tiny speck on the horizon that was the Magic.

The funny thing about this is that after I left Jetty Park, I called Shirley to arrange to have supper with her and Norm. She said, "Hi, Dave! I'm watching the Magic!" And I was able to tell her, "no, you're watching the Wonder!"

Beautiful weather today. I hope you folks who watch the twopalms web cam got to see them, 'cause they were lit beautifully with the bright late-afternoon sunlight!

Are you taking pictures?
I took so many that I quickly ran out of film (my digital gave up the ghost during this trip.) I kicked myself for "shooting my wad" so quickly, 'cause I would've liked to have taken more shots once the two ships had left the channel. The light on them really was incredible!

It was a beautiful sight to see this morning standing on our verandah seeing the Wonder across the way. What a great way to end our Magical cruise.

I go off of the Carnival Glory this morning and was also very surprised to see both the Magic and the Wonder.

The weather on the 10/9 Glory sailing certainly left a lot to be desired...it sure lacked sunshine...

Hello my friend Dave - first thanks for correcting me on the right ship - looking at her from the 5th floor of the condo a "few" miles away, it's hard to tell the difference - BTW she is back at the port now - the Wonder that is. It was great seeing you last night and sorry we had such a short time, but it still was enjoyable - Keep safe and will see you around again soon - also I am begining to think you are correct about the building next to Ron Jon's - everyone had been convinced it was going to be a motel - in fact we were even told that, but Norm and I looked at it closer last night and it sure does look like a Ron Jon's lookalike - going back this morn to get a closer look and will let you know -
anyhow hugsssssssssss to the family and chat with you soon.
Always
Shirley

we were lucky (??) enough to see them together at Port Everglades because of our "Hurricane Jeanne" changed/shortemed itinerary for 9/27 cruise. Yes it is pretty amazing seeing them both together. I was flabbergasted !!

That's awesome that you were able to see both ships at the same time. Will you be posting your pictures on your website?
:sunny:

2 Questions:

What is Dueling Horns?

WHERE are the pictures?? I'd love to see them out there together. One more week til I see the Wonder in her glory.

Dueling horns is probably that both ships have the "When you wish upon a star" horn - At first that just sound out a regular horn - back and forth, then they play the "When you wish upon a star" -

When this is done with another ship like Carnival or RCCL - After they "duel" for awhile with regular horn sounds - DCL will then play it's custom "when you.." and that leaves the RCCL silent - with DCL winning the "duel"

Hope I explained that OK

Actually yesterday they didn't really "duel". The Magic played her horn as the normal part of sail away. Then when they went by the Wonder the Magic sounded the When you wish upon a Star and the Wonder sounded back with her When you wish upon a star.

These ships have the absolutely neatest horns on the ocean.
