The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

OK so I am carrying a very full backpack with a few large blankets and 1 chilled bottle of champagne. I chose to get to Poly through EPCOT but totally forgot that the bag check was BEFORE the monorail. :headache:

I look at both the girls and we all say "busted" at the same time. Now what can I do?

We could:

A) Walk all the way back to the busses and catch another bus.
B) Run and try to circumvent security.
C) Sit down and drink our champagne at EPCOT.
D) Walk straight ahead and deal with the consequences.

We picked D.

I approach bagcheck and offered my stuffed backpack. I tried to play it cool and not let on that I was smuggling contraband.

Meanwhile A and B are trying not to laugh and letting me go first so they can pretend not to know me if I get caught.

He feels the bag. The bag is packed tight. I fear he is going to ask me to open the bag. You know the blankets would spring out like snakes out of a can, and then the bottle would pop out. I then envision the bottle crashing and breaking and making a bigger scene and now not only is there glass everywhere but my NYE champagne is not all over the ground.

Fortunately, when he squeezed the bag, the bottle was in the center so he did not notice or did not care. He told me Happy New Year and let me go. :cool1:

The girls get their non contraband filled bags checked and we all proceed up the ramp to the monorail. We board the monorail with no further incident.

We walk through the Poly, hit the restroom and out to the beach.

What a view.

Picture timestamps show we were on the beach by 8:30 or so. Not sure if Holiday wishes was done that night. This year it was done at 8:30pm. I know we did nto see them that night. We may have still been inside the lobby looking around.

We spread out our blankets on the sand and made ourselves comfortable.
Watching EWP.

After EWP A and I went to Captain Cooks to grab some grub and a dole whip. When we returned to the beach and found we had chairs.

While B was sitting on the beach, a group including a gentleman of Spanish decent started gathering chairs for their group near us. He looked over and asked if she wanted chairs and of course she said yes. She told us they guy got several friends to move chairs from across the beach for her. Score!! We have chairs.

I had told the girls that I had friends that were meeting up by the rooms. I asked if they wanted to come up but we were all afraid we might lose our chairs but they wanted me to go up.
I did not want to leave A and B and be rude to them so I only stayed a few minutes. I said hi to David and Kathy and watched Brooklyn play in the sand a bit. I think I was still a little shy about barging in. I know better know. Must do it again. 2011? :cool1:

We used our mugs to get ice ( only ice, don’t judge) and I pop that champagne. I will admit I drank most of it.

We settle into watch the most amazing fireworks. So amazing that I have no pictures :scared1:

So I bootlegged some from the live feed that tecdavid sets up at the Poly.
These are from this and are horrible but you get the idea. :rolleyes1

Check out the vidoe MeMom and Jill posted in theri report.
MeMom and Jill's video of fireworks

I think everyone should try to see these live if possible. They are awesome and the best fireworks I have seen.

After the crowd thins I suggest we go to DHS. Yes I am nuts.
It is open until 3 am and is close to CSR. We go down to the bus stop.

Mistake, Mistake, Mistake. I know now I should have walk to the TTA and taken a bus from there but at that point was I not sure I could find the secret path to get to the TTA.

However while waiting at the bus stop, I see this Brazilian chick.

It is a dark photo but here she is with her bottle. I was discreet about mine And obviously drunk. More than me. She proceeds to get on her phone. I have no idea if she is calling home, or people on property but loud.

We wait and wait and wait some more. After very full busses come by but there is no room to even stand, we decide to bail. Too much down time and the sleepies set in. We took a rather unorthodox route to the TTA ( through a parking lot and some other places we maybe should or should not have cut through ) and then took the monorail over to MK and then back to CSR. No DHS for us. :sad2:

It was not fast but it worked under the circumstances. We went straight to bed and fell fast asleep.

New Years Day fun follies, Drunks, Ducks and De-lights

YOU, kind lady, are buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusted!!!

I absolutely am on pins and needles for your next update- HURRY UP!!! (cept, I'll probably miss it since my company is arriving for dinner in about 5 minutes!)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I so thought I was busted!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for not getting busted for the champagne. How sweet of those guys to get you gals some chairs to sit on for the fireworks show!!!!

Great photos of the EWP; we haven't seen that in years.

Sorry you didn't get to DHS.

Aw, now I'm going to feel less secure when I'm in the parks, knowing how you got through bag check with a great big bottle of champagne. I'm glad you made it though.

So glad you came by for a few minutes, and yes, definitely 2011. :dance3:

As awesome as those fireworks do look on the screen, you have to see them in person!

Well, I'm glad you got through bag check and didn't get thrown in Disney jail  but, really what does that say about the security?

I am glad we did not get busted. I would have been more embarrassed than anything.

EWP is one of must do's at the Poly every trip.

We came back from Cook's and there B sat with 3 chairs. That group next to us was also having a party but they were just having fun and not too loud.
It was a sweet gesture since they hauled chairs from far away too. :lmao:

I can really remember if we mentioned we were just getting on the monorail or not. Not sure if that should have mattered. :confused3

Considering most times I do have to open the bag and such, I think he also knew if I opened it, I would not get it closed again.

Disney security is as much for a "feeling" of security as anything else. You know they have every square inch of that place covered in cameras.

I was looking at the pictures and starting to write that part before teh New year and discovered I had no pictures. :scared1: So I had to improvise.

I was hoping my innocent face and overstuffed backpack with blankets convinced him I was not dangerous.

Well, it's good that he saw you before the champagne then - considering the huge difference between the before and after pictures you posted. ;)

But of course after it would not have mattered since then you could not have been busted...

Looks like you had a great time and I can see why you want to go back for 2011!

It was a fun trip. The energy at the Poly was so festive. Everyone was having a good time and be nice about it. Except the drunk brazillian girl at the bus stop ;) and even then she was just loud onthe phone.

I am easily say for New Years Eve and being out in public a crowded place at that, I felt very safe and able to have fun without looking over my shoulder for trouble.

I love love loved this update! I was :rotfl: about the bubbly in the backpack! That's outstanding!

Not to mention the before and after pictures. :goodvibes

Friday January 1 2010
By some miracle I was up and back in the CSR lobby by 7:45am. Remember I had to get new keys since we had a split reservation.

This lobby is so beautiful and even more so when decorated for Christmas.

I return to the room and we finish getting ready. I remind the girls to just take their other keys out of the pouches so they would not get confused. I had gotten their tickets for them separately so no chance of forgetting tickets.
Once again, we were at the park shortly after 9 am. Which park?

Of course NYE was the reason we were there, but it was a fun night.

I can only imagine the look on my face when I thought I was busted. :rotfl2:

Pat, we've never been to Disney at Christmas time, and your pics of the CSR at that time of year are spectacular. Would you mind if I used them in the CSR thread for people who ask what it looks like at Christmas?

I would be honored. Use away. The lobby was breathtaking in person, the pictures do not do it justice.

That morning was so quiet being New Years Day, it just added to the atmosphere.

Ooooo, I don't think I've ever seen pictures from CSR at Christmastime - very pretty!

enjoyed the lobby pics, i loved staying there when we went in december...it is not over the top decorated, but classy decorated.

i really enjoyed it.

thanks
:thumbsup2
