The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

The story about the boat captains is too funny, definitely worth hopping again for

Cool pictures of ToT :thumbsup2

Get Smart!

Man, Glenn even beats everyone to the quotes here. :worship:

So you mentioned that the brief stop in EPCOT is probably nuts, but this is probably the one place where you can say you did that and nobody will bat an eye! :lmao:

And the Statler/Waldorf conversation is too funny!

Since you didn't record your TSM score, I'd go ahead and award yourself 500,000 points or so.

What a hilarious interchange between those 2 captains. :lmao: I'd have loved to have seen the one guy's expression when he figured out he was wrong. :rotfl2:

I'm so jealous you got to see OMD!! That tree looked uber cool!

I hope the pool wasnt' too warm to enjoy after all that hustling to get back to it!

That's so funny that you found some real live "Statler and Waldorf's". They sound like a couple of characters.

That Tree of Life model looks awesome!

I had my very own show with those guys. When the one had that Oh Crud moment when he realized he heard wrong was priceless. I had to try hard not to bust out laughing.

In OMD the small scale sized replica of the ToL was amazing.

Great update! I hope the pool felt good. :goodvibes I'm trying to get around to everyone's threads better these days. Forgive my not being around, I read everything you write. :lovestruc

Did they close One Man's Dream ?

I understand life getting in the way and all that. I struggle to keep myself. Some days are easy and some are just impossible.

OMD went down for a rehab and it is open again with some changes. I still need to see the "new" version.

I think we're going to have to take a trip together one of these days, you, me, Tammie, Maroo, and Liesa. Wooooo Hooooo that would be a fun trip, I think we would all have to wear depends the whole trip to keep from leaking in our pants, the amount of laughter that would come from us gals would be worth it though!!

I think you are right. We would need Whoopi ( and her new Poise commercial) to help us out. :rotfl2:

It sounds like you had a great morning! :thumbsup2
I did have a nice relaxing morning.:goodvibes

Okay, I am a newbie to the Epcot area and this whole International Gateway entrance. We have never stayed in that resort area and usually take the monorail to the main entrance. Where exactly would I find it? Is the boat dock near it or is it the boat dock at the Yacht Club? I appreciate any help you can give me. :goodvibes

When you are in EPCOT the exit/entrance is between the UK and The bridge to France. That will bring you down the hill to the turnstiles. If you are at one of the Boardwalk resorts, Beach/Yacht Club, Boardwalk and even the Swan and Dolphin, the International Gateway entrance is between the Boardwalk and the Beach Club.

i tried to find a couple of pictures

the entrance is to the left of the wedding gazebo pictured here

And to the right of the beach club and the ship slide

You have to go either over or next to the bridge that I am standing on - you can see the ship in the background.

Love your TOT pictures. DS is adamant that he is going to ride it this year. DH and I are keeping our fingers crossed. I really want to give it a try. May never ride it again but I would like to at least once.

Erika

It is soo much fun. My DS when he was just 38.5 inches tall was denied by ToT and pitched a fit. He went on it, but will not go again. He is now 17. I don't think he likes that dropping feeling but he loves roller coasters and will ride spinny rides until everyone else pukes. He just needs to do it again. I may have to revisit that- no new star wars ride until he rides ToT.

I almost wanted to stay on the boat to hear more. :lmao: Seriously entertaining. That stuff you can't plan.

He had a slight heads up this time.

True dat!! :rotfl2:

And the Statler/Waldorf conversation is too funny!

They were a riot. :lmao: Made the wait and the boat ride that much more fun.

Thank you - I rectified not taking a picture of the score later on. I think my score was so pitiful at first that really did not warrent a picture. :sad2:

I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud I couldn't take a picture but it was priceless!!!:lmao:

Next trip - the new and improved version right?!?!?

I hope the pool wasnt' too warm to enjoy after all that hustling to get back to it!

Oh yes, the pool was quite an experience too.

Fun boat trip! I think I read once that nearly all of the WDW boat captains (as well as train drivers) are retired people and most of them used to have really high level jobs and now fulfill their childhood dream of being a captain or a train driver. I have had quite a few boat captains who were truly great CMs but this seems more like a bonus show they put on!

The interesting detail I learned from your story: there is a 15 boat and a 30 boat, so boats depart every 15 minutes and not every 20 minutes as I have read somewhere...

I could see these guys love their job. I have a feeling that a young woman was telling them where they should be and the one guy was just not used to haivng a youngster tellinghim what to do.

It was July so maybe they increased to 4 boats instead of 3. :confused3 Maybe they tell everyone 20 minutes so when it comes in 15 you are happy?

I recognize him from some of our voyages.

Disney boat rides are a nice change of pace from the usual buses. The waterways and views are all so pretty, too.

The boats are usually so relaxing. I like them when they are cool, I detest them when they are sweatboxes.

Always a great view. I have pictures waiting for your thread but I am trying to be subtle about it. :ssst:

I arrive back at POP at 12:20pm. I am hot sticky and would love to jump in the pool.
I walk through the gift shop and refill my mug and head to the room to change.
As I exit the food court I am greet with this.

<insert record scratching sound here>
Nice, That’s nice!;)
Time for a lesson here. :teacher:
When this happens there is a procedure:
1) Clear the pool - :thumbsup2:
2) Remove the foreign matter

IMG_3516.jpg

:thumbsup2:

3) Check chlorine and pH levels
IMG_3518.jpg

:thumbsup2:

4) Deal with PR. Relay message of “unscheduled cleaning” it will be 30 minutes yada, yada, yada.

:thumbsup2:

Yup, they have it under control. I can resume my vacation. :rotfl:
I get to the room. I shower the sticky off me and instead of getting into my suit and heading to another pool, I take a little nap.

It was July 9th 2010. Does anyone remember where I was headed in the evening???? :rolleyes1

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

It WAS! It was a dookie alert!! Poor kid's mom. Glad you know they are doing things according to proper potty protocol!

But, you napped? Really!? You mean you were too grossed out to brave the BM pool?? Come on.. Chicken! :lmao::lmao:

:scared1:ugh! I have to admit that is always in the back of my mind in public pools and now that I have a toddler who loves the water I know I will be spending many hours hanging in the baby pool this summer.
