The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

great sunrise that is a awesome resort for sunrise and set set pics.

10:01- I wait until 9:50am to check to see if I have to in to work. 6:22 am was the email this morning that said all systems go, we report at 11am. I get ready, salt driveway, slip down and up the driveway, drink coffee and watch 10 minutes of news and notify staff by text and twitter.
At 10:00 they announced we are closed for the day.:headache: I should be happy I don't have to kill myself to get to work but really, I had to re-notify all staff and take off all my layers.

I just wish they would not cut it so close.

Well now I am up and I get to finish some chores :laundy: and Dis.:surfweb:

Good luck! Drive safe!!! :goodvibes

False start. My lovely county waits until the last minute. Thankfully I am home and NOT going out. I do need to take care of the luge run, I mean my driveway so that maybe I can get out tomorrow. :rotfl2:

Beautiful pictures - I don't tend to see too many sunrises. :rolleyes1 As pretty as they are - I prefer my sleep.

Sorry they waited until you had already put all the work into it, and got geared up for work before calling it. Where I used to work, I was far enough away that if the roads were bad - I would just exaggerate how much worse they were "over my way". I lived about 40 miles from where I worked - a lot of rural roads.

In Dec it was pretty easy to catch them. I probably would not not catch many in July.

With no traffic I can get to work in 20 minutes. Normally with traffic it can be anywhere from 35- 55 and add ice to that well... I was trying to start out early just in case. I did check everything I needed to check to be sure we were opening, email, website, blackberry, phone and I hear it on the news.:scared1: and they still called it 10 minutes after I was resigned to go. What if I did not get that message? I have then in turn notified staff and may have confused them with yes we open at 11 followed by no we are closed.
This is not the first time , I should be used to it.
I should just wait until 1 hour before and if I am late or staff cannot get in on time - so be it. They have to notify me earlier. Easy to say but tough to do. :rolleyes1

I am hearing more and more cars on our road. I bet we have a delay in the morning. Howeve,r I close on Wed so I do not go in until 1pm. Now I have to worry about freezing at night. :headache: I can't win.

It was anawesome sight. I need to put that up yesterday- no sun here.

Are you getting snow?
umm about 4-5 inches, not as much as they are out east.

which is about time it spreads out some, normally we get dumped on the 20 inches of lake effect snow, glad some other parts are getting it this year.

:thumbsup2

Glad we could help. :rotfl: I needed these couple of days.

Nice sunrise pictures Pat. I never want to get up early enough to capture them.

Cafe Rix always makes me think of "Rick's Place" from Casablanca, although I don't think that's what the imagineers were going for.

Double Stuff coffee huh? Sounds um, thick.

I can never remember the name of the Lounge- Rix Lounge. Funny they would have 2 places with similar names. I keep wanting to call the lounge Fernando's hideaway from SNL. :rotfl2:

Sunrise comes late in Dec. 7:15 am. You were up that early at Kidani right? Now you just need to be at CSR in Dec.

We all know the stuff in the Food Courts are weak. Even the premeasured packets you get in the room are kind of weak. I can generally brew a 4 cup pot and put 2 packets in there and be OKay.

Now I will say not all coffee makers are built alike. When I was the Houston Hyatt they had prepackaged but it was a tray. I tried to put 2 in and made a big mess. :headache:. Alternate solution, put a whole package in and only brew 2 cups of coffee. What can I say - I like strong coffee with lots of cream and sugar ( substitute) :confused3

I'm glad your county decided to change its mind yesterday! Trying to drive in these conditions is so scary. :goodvibes

I was mad at their decision since they always wait until the last minute.

when I went out to salt the driveway, we had no paper yet, the paper was delivered later that morning. The daycare center that my kids went to when they were little ( obviously) was closed.

Even though I did not live in this house during hurricane Hugo, the newpaper was delivered and the daycare center was open the day after the hurricane. :scared1:
That just shows how much as changed about being open at all costs and how dangerous it was to be out driving.

The YMCA in our area is probably the only one worse for not thinking about putting their employees at risk.

We open at 10 am today. I don't go int until 1pm but I wondering about closing tonight. Roads seem pretty clear now, even in front of my house so everything else should be clear too.

It is finally :sunny: here. :yay: Let the melting begin.

I hope the sun melts things enough that you will be very safe on the way home.

One of the college girls I know that works in the extended care at the kids' old school just put a picture up of the school, and it is still very ice-covered. I don't know that we will go back this week.

We are still under a winter weather advisory since any melting will re freeze over night. Most places, yes even the Y, closed early yesterday.

I think that is why schools were out again today. The roads may be clear but the school parking lots are not clear yet. I assume that that will be today's task. Hopefully we will be back to normal in the morning. :thumbsup2

I need to remember to get more ice melt before the next storm. Our driveway is mostly shaded and it always ices over.

I need to get out today - haven't left home since....uh....maybe Friday. Not so much weather related....other than its cold....until Monday night/Tuesday when we got maybe 3-4 inches of the yucky stuff. But my sons car got hit Saturday, and I hear the roads are clear now so I need to take it to town to get an estimate on it. Of course, that son did not bother to clear any the yucky white stuff off of his car so it looks like I will have to do that first.

Driving in today I got to see the skating rinks and luge tracks that have been made on everyone's front yards. :rotfl: The layer of ice just glistened. I am thankful it is pretty much off the road.
Yes, my Dh is hopefully dealing with and non - weather related issue that has rendered my DD's car inoperable. We think it is the transmission. :scared1:

Everyone got new snow brushes and ice scrapers for Christmas . :lmao: I was tired of mine being taken and not returned. My car hs priority in the garage :snooty: so I rarely need it.

Good luck getting out in the yucky stuff.

ah, the call of nature. No matter how much you plan, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I really hope your split stay ends up not being split, moving is a pain, even within the same resort!

Thank goodness it was not an emergency call. :rotfl:
CP is back on the list for the next holiday visit.

As for the room, I am happy to report ( prematurely) that we had no problems and all I had to do was go to the lobby to get new key cards. Tickets were separate so that was not an issue either.

I'll have to go back through my Epcot pics from the 30th and see if I can see you! We were at that CP too. Do you by any chance remember a random flash going off in a crazy direction over and over again from an area on the left? :rotfl: Henry got a hold of his disposable camera and kept flashing it before I could get it out of his hands!

If we make it this year during NYE I want to be sure to see all those storytellers, they sound so interesting!

I know I started reading this but never posted. Well, here I amnow. Our dates overlap in Sep as I said on me Mom's report. i am running the 5k with several other Dis'ers. We are going to start a PTR next month. Going back to catch up

Okay, I've been running since this summer, I'm still awful, but I REALLY want to do a 5k. You ladies have me excited--I haven't a clue if October would ever work, but man this:

Course Description
Race toward Magic Kingdom® Park from Topiary Lane, run down Main Street, U.S.A.® toward Adventureland® where you will run past The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Jungle Cruise, and the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions while racing towards Frontierland®. Once in Frontierland®, you will run past Splash Mountain® and through Liberty Square. You’ll pass by Cinderella Castle, the Mad Tea Party, and the Tomorrowland® Indy Speedway. Once in Tomorrowland®, you’ll run by Space Mountain®, and then you are on your way to the finish passing Disney’s Contemporary Resort and back to Topiary Lane at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

sounds like an AMAZING RUN!!!!!!! I want to do it!

It's October 1? MK's birthday? Are they planning anything other than that for that day? I haven't heard anything, but I am not the best at keeping up with news either. I would be kinda surprised if they didn't do something.

I just told Joe about the run and wanting to do it. He just grunted. :rotfl:

I don't remember a flash so you must have got it out of his hand pretty quick. :rotfl2: It was the 7pm show I think.

They were fun. We did not get to all of them, I think I have Japan, the American Adventure, Morocco ( of they had one) left.

The more the merrier. I just want to finish, and be able to walk afterwards. :rotfl2:
As for MK 40th they have not announced anything but the merchandise is out so they are not letting it go by quietly.
I think a grunt is a yes. ::yes::

After our beautiful sunrise and getting ready, it was about 8:10am we make it to

CSRHMbusstop123109.jpg

As we are walking to the bus stop, the coffee kicks in. Yup, I am racing back to the room to use the indoor plumbing. I race back to the bus stop and incredibly we had not missed an AK bus.
We get to AK shortly before 9 am. If rope drop was at 9 am we would have made it. No worries, we were relaxing.
We stop at the tree for some photopass pictures.

A special present.

We make it through the turnstiles and stop on the bridge for another photo.

You can see here it was warm enough for shorts but we still had our sweatshirts on due to a morning chill in the air.
We made a left at the big tree and made our way down to get FP for the safari. The wait time was short maybe 15-20 minutes on the sign but I could not see a soul in line so we hopped in the stand by after getting our fast passes.
For whatever reason, not too many animals out this time.

If I remember correctly ( must learn to take notes) I walked over to get FP for EE and the girls were going to walk back towards Pizzafari where we would grab a late second breakfast or an early lunch.

So if you remember your park map, they walked straight back the way out of Africa and I walked towards Asia to get those passes and came down the central path towards the Tree of Life.

I stopped at a Photopass photographer.

Image0104.jpg

I did preorder a photopass CD. I did not tell the girls, but I did encourage photopass pictures. I was trying to get as many as I could on there to justify the cost. I will let you know later if I feel it was worth it.
I meet up with B at

Where do we head after brunch?
