The shock of my life at 50s Prime Time Cafe

I was on my cell phone during dinner, (I know, but I was by myself at an isolated table so there was no way I was bothering anyone) when a server from another section saw me, took my phone, chatted with my friend before hanging up on her, and then made me sing I'm a Little Teapot. I was taken aback, but took my punishment like a good sport.

My husband and I went there while on our honeymoon (in 2003) and our waiter "Uncle Patrick" told me I had to finish my meal (also the meatloaf - pretty good!). He then noticed my husband's "Groom" pin and made a big deal out of us being newlyweds. We thought that was it, but then he stood on a chair in the middle of the place and sang "Love and Marriage" (from Married With Children). He had half the place singing along. I thought it was really cute, even though I was pretty shy and usually hated attention like that :)

We had something like this happen but unfortunately my daughter, 17, got a call and was on her phone speaking to a friend who just had a tragic circumstance happen to her. The waitress took her phone away and told her friend she shouldn't be talking to my daughter blah, blah....to say the least my daughter was furious and the whole situation was terrible. I'm sure the waitress had no idea but should have stopped when she saw my daughters reaction. So our experience wasn't too funny...instead hurtful to my daughter and her friend who was already upset.

I am :rotfl: here! We are headed to WDW in Nov and my 10yo will have a brand new cell phone with full texting capability! Her 11th b-day is in early Dec, but we are moving across the country (WDW is a stop during the move!), so she is having her birthday party before we leave complete with cell phone to keep in touch with her friends!

50sPT is on my list of desired ADRs. I can't wait (for the food or entertainment)!!!

That is super funny!:lmao: My Dad got in trouble for putting his elbows on the table all of the time before.

I would have been mortified!!!! :)

My DD (21), also an english major who hopes to become a writer, would've been in the corner after you. That was a great story! Thanks for posting.

:lmao::lmao: I wish I could take my sis there she would so get busted & she's 35. I love PTC & WCC.

I love 50's Prime Time!! Great food, great atmosphere - and yes I have been busted for having ws on the table!

:rotfl: Can't wait until we try 50s Prime Time again! We didn't get any antics at our table or around us as we were seated way in the front.

HA! HA! Your story brings back fond memories of our visit to the 50's Prime-Time Cafe last year. We had very late-night reservations at around 10:00PM. We had a few tired young children on our hands as well. You can imagine our surprise when the waitress sat down next to us to take our orders, chided us about not to dare ask for ketchup, and even nick-named my young son, Sparky! The food is the type of food that you find in your local hometown diner. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The servings are absolutely huge here. I liked the food certainly, but it is not as good as some of the other WDW restaurants. What I loved about the restaurant was the theme - it is almost as if you are walking into a retro kitchenette or even someone's vintage kitchen. Really comfy and cozy atmosphere. My poor son - we called him Sparky for easily 2 months after our trip to Disney.

We were there last week. Any chance your waiter's name was Mike? He was ours and VERY funny. He picked on my sis-in-law. He made her set the table, he paraded her thru the restaurant to return the menus. Wouldn't let her have dessert because she didn't finish her lunch. He brought all ours out and didn't bring her anything--only to return 5 minutes later and say, "I decided you can have dessert after all," and slammed a plate in front of her that was her left-over sandwich that he had put ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles on top of. VERY FUNNY! My 8-year-old son thought this was hilarious!
