Definitely! I know many letters are coming from England. The Kennedy Center recognizes people world-wide not just United States citizens. So a letter from Canada would help to emphasize their global influence.

I think the idea of the Kennedy Center Honors for the Sherman Brothers is a great idea. Past due award. Just an fyi that with this interest in honoring them you all might be interested in the Spoonful of Sherman: Celebration of the Sherman Brothers concert happening September 24, 2011 in the LA area. The Golden State Pops Orchestra is putting the show together, with the support of Disney Music Publishing and Stu Phillips. We are excited to be paying tribute to two American musical legends with additional support of the Society of Composers and Lyricists and the LA City Council. More info at gspo.com. Pass the word!

Unfortunately, the Sherman Brothers were not selected for the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors. Here is a note Robbie Sherman (son of Robert Sherman) posted this morning.

My father and I were traveling in Scotland for the passed two weeks and there was very poor internet reception where we were staying. I just read the news that the Sherman Brothers were not among those to be receiving Kennedy Center Honors this year. I was disappointed as I'm sure you must have been as well.

But I want to thank each of you who took the time to write letters and helped with our grassroots campaign. I was able to speak with two of the board members of KCH and they said that we definitely have their attention for next year. In January, with your help, I would like to double efforts to try to see if we can get this. Again, though, thank you to everybody who wrote letters, posted blogs and spread the word! Please keep those letters for next year!
