Today was Sunday and we headed to MK for the day. The weather was supposed to be in the low 70's so we wore jeans with short sleeves, plus took a light jacket. This would be just about the last time that I saw my pants for the entire trip.
Because ds#2 was really too small for a lot of the bigger rides, ds#1 and dh quickly became "park buddies." They did Splash, Space and POC on their own. DM, ds#2 and I ended up spending most of our time together. DS#2 actually ended up going on Dumbo, the Teacups, Aladdin's Carpets, the carousel and several others over the week, but since he's been a bit skittish about the whole "character" thing, we thought it best to break him in gently. Just before we left home the day before, out trusty stroller broke. So I dashed out the BRU at the last minute and purchased a new one. Now, I know I could have just rented strollers in the parks, but ds#2 is a stroller napper, and since most of the strollers are hard plastic, we knew this wasn't going to work, plus we had an "off" day planned when I would need it. So I bought a new one and dh put it together before leaving. Of course, ds#2 refused to get in. However, but today, he decided it wasn't so bad afterall and actually took a nap every day in it. What a great thing. I thought the parks were reasonably crowded, much more so than I would have expected for this week, as most people think it's one of the most uncrowded weeks of the year. Knowing we would be back another day, we didn't overdue. However, we did catch the parade, and ds#2 was in love. We left in the late afternoon and headed back to our offsite home to get some dinner. Then home to get cleaned up and to bed.
Day 2 (Monday) we went to AK. Now this is not my favorite park, since every time we go there it's so hot I can't stand it. Figuring we were heading there for cooler weather, we planned on enjoying it. No such luck. The weather was up to mid 80's with humidity. We did the safari, which I always enjoy and saw a ton of animals. We did Rafiki's planet watch, where ds#2 pet a bunch of animals and we saw Stanley. Had lunch in Pizzafari. I seem to recall that someone mentioned using the meal package and being able to order the pizza, which was said to be the same size for kids and adults. Tried to do that and was told that for the kids meal, you can only order the kid choices (grilled chicken strips or, I think, PB&J sandwich). Since neither of my boys will eat these, I ended up having to order regular meals for them, which is much more expensive. After that, it was so hot that we just decided to head out. On our way back, we took a wrong turn and instead of heading back to our condo, ended up back in MK. No problem. Got to enjoy the park again, and dm and I sat at what would become our favorite place, outside of the Edy's ice cream store on Main Street, across from Casey's. Seems that ds#2 would always fall asleep and this was a place with some shade for sitting and having a sweet treat. Dh and ds#2 again headed off for the big rides, keeping in touch with our walkie talkies. We stayed for the parade and headed out for dinner offsite again. Another great day.
Day 3 (Tuesday) we decided to hit Epcot. Spaceship Earth had a long wait, so we decided to do this on the way out. DH and ds#1 wanted to do Mission Space and I think TT, so they went off on their own. DM, ds#2 and I did a bit of exploring in Future World but there wasn't too much to keep a 2 yo interested (because he's just not capable enough on video games). When MS had a long wait, the boys hooked up with us again and we headed over to World Showcase. DS#2 and I did El Rio del Tiempo ourselves (and hit the kidcot station) and then met up with the others, who were seeing the character van. Since ds#2 wasn't yet ready to go near them, I didn't see any point in upsetting him. We then spent the rest of the day working our way around World Showcase, stopping at all the kidcot stations. Family ate at the American pavilion, while I ate at Morocco while ds#2 napped. We caught a bit of Off Kilter and the beatles band (really enjoyed both a lot) then headed back to the front of the park, where we did SE. Loved it. Then it was out and back to our condo to get dinner again.
Remaining days to be posted a bit later. Any questions, please ask away.
