The Saga of our Disney Dream home - It's about time!

Oh I want to visit!! That tiki bar looks like a restaurant and the pool is SO nice!!! Wowowowowow!!!

Love, Love, Love....All of it!!!!

What a beautiful home!!!!!!

(sorry, I'm late catching up on all the updates) :cool1:

No problem being late! I'm still pinching myself. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I could live in a place like this!

If that Tiki Bar doesn't scream I'm coming to visit nothing does. :lmao: Perfect venue for your 50th! :woohoo:

It's phenomenal. Truly. I love the Long Beach houses and plant life. This house is a winner!

I agree with tenting before you move. It's a colossal pain otherwise.

I love the way you invited yourself to the 50th, but of course you were already invited! :thumbsup2

Love the house! So beautiful!

Jill in CO

It is amazing! I hope you can come visit!

Lovely house!

Love the pool, yard and especially the Tiki Bar!

Maybe next time, we'll meet at my house instead of the regular place!

Oh I want to visit!! That tiki bar looks like a restaurant and the pool is SO nice!!! Wowowowowow!!!

We may even be halfway moved in by the time you are here, jetski and I could always pick you up and bring you over! I'm about half and hour from the doors of the Grand Californian!

Wow! Thanks for the pics of the cul de sac. I just love the open space it has. The houses are nice and far apart and each feels like it's nice and situated in it's own private plot. We don't have much land in the UK so our houses are crammed together a lot. Our idea in urban areas of a detached house is you can just about get a credit card between you and next door lol.

The garden is so pretty! I love the way the lawn area is shaped. Nice move to get that pretty yellow patio furniture included. The hot tub looks very inviting! I can see you two living around the tikki bar. What a lovely area to just sit on warm nights either together or with friends enjoying the cali sunset.

What an amazing house thanks again for including us on your journey. I feel privileged.

Now tell me what does it say on Fran's yellow tee shirt? I bet it's something real funny or cool but couldn't quite read it.

Love love love the backyard...all o f it is so inviting and lush. I know you are going to love hanging out there and relaxing.

Can't wait to see it in person...

Did I invite myself? :rotfl:

We'll be out this week and I know you're uber busy but let me know if you can meet up. We'll have Wednesday at Disneyland. We're fairly free, no big plans. No family meets this trip either. I need low key. ;) Family and low key are not synonymous.

Love the garden area and the pool! I bet you two and the cats will be very happy there.

Man, you are going to have so many fun parties out in that backyard! Hope no one falls in the pool :rotfl2:

I stumbled upon this thread today and am subbing! I love your house! I can't wait to see how it comes along!

That is a fantastic house. In the past, I've really wanted to move to SoCal and we almost have on a couple of occasions, but with the new California gun laws I just can't do it (I'm not trying to turn your thread political). I really enjoy target shooting as a past time and I can't give up that hobby.

It's really too bad because all of that parking would be great for my Shelby and our other cars! hehe.

After you get settled in, you should charge admission for peeping your Dis collections! Like a museum!

Caught up on the saga of the house, so glad you got it but sad about the bidding wars...that's happening around here too again, as is construction. BOO on the termites but at least the seller has to fix it first so that is something. Bummer there was nothing else to bring the price down though. Glad the patio furniture is included, I especially love the yellow Adirondack Chairs!

Here is Fran sitting at the Tiki Bar.

Fran is giving you quite the look there, Alison! :rotfl2:;)

This is the door to the master bedroom, so we can just go from our bed to take a morning swim.

Look at those windows and doors. SO JEALOUS. :thumbsup2

That’s it for now! Next up will be the windows for Lisa!

Yeah! :dance3: I thought you were being facetious at first - but I don't think you are. You already got some fantastic shots. :thumbsup2 And how I love a garden door straight to the pool!

If that Tiki Bar doesn't scream I'm coming to visit nothing does. :lmao: .

:rotfl2:

So true. :thumbsup2

Did I invite myself? :rotfl:
.

I think we all have. :rotfl2:

Can't wait for *one day* to come. :flower3:

Oh wow, such great pictures

The Tiki Bar and Pool are just gorgeous !!

Thanks! And we went shopping to get more stuff for the Tiki Bar, you know with the Tiki 50th Anniversary and all! :rotfl2:

Sounds like DH & I need to squeeze in a secret DL trip next year.

Definitely! We can hang out at MY tiki bar!

This looks absolutely amazing. I love the Tiki Bar and the pool.

Corinna

I can't wait to start moving our stuff in and figuring out how we will Disneyfy it!

It's funny you should comment on the yellow patio furniture. That's not what I really wanted or cared about. I wanted the heavy stone tables near the pool and in the fern grotto. Those were what I really liked. The yellow chairs will not be used by Fran and I simply because they are too low to the ground for us to get up out of! :rotfl2:

Her shirt says, "Give me a dew". She is a big fan of Diet Mtn Dew.

Love love love the backyard...all o f it is so inviting and lush. I know you are going to love hanging out there and relaxing.

I hope that we get to hang out and relax there! Can't wait for you to visit as well.

Yes, you did invite yourself, but that's OK. You know where I will be Wednesday. Fran will be shopping! :lmao:

Wow! What a beautiful home! :goodvibes

Thanks! and :welcome:

The backyard is gorgeous. I love everything about it!

Too bad we won't have possession when you are here. Next time....

Love the garden area and the pool! I bet you two and the cats will be very happy there.

I hope so, as I said I want to be able to have the time to enjoy it!

Man, you are going to have so many fun parties out in that backyard! Hope no one falls in the pool :rotfl2:

I'm pretty sure we will have some great parties and it's no fun unless someone falls in the pool! :rotfl2:

Since we already live here, we have to live with the gun laws. Not political unless we go on and on about it, but one of the things that we need to find space for is our gun lockers/safes. We have a dozen long guns and quite a few Single Action revolvers and black powder pistols. We were into CW reenacting and joined SASS a few years back. Haven't been active, but plan to get back into it.

People on the DIS can get a free pass to see our stuff!

Caught up on the saga of the house, so glad you got it but sad about the bidding wars...that's happening around here too again, as is construction. There's another shout out for the yellow chairs! :rotfl2: I guess they're a hit. I'll certainly keep them. Now what to do with all our crappy white patio furniture! We are keeping all our tables even if they are stained and ugly. Put a table cloth on them and no one will know. We plan on hosting parties. The previous owner clued us in, put the tables on the grass and have the band near the pool. I doubt we'll have a band, and our parties might just be intimate enough that we can set up a few more tables near the pool and not have to use the grass for that purpose.

Fran is giving you quite the look there, Alison! :rotfl2:;)

That's what I love about this place is that the inside and outside are so co mingled with all the windows. Sad to say I went through the shots that I have and you've probably seen the best of my window shots, so I'm going to have to focus on something else for the next update.

Next time we get in the house, I'll take more window pictures!

So as much as I wanted this update to be about windows, I'm just not that big of a windows person, and when I looked through my pictures, I really didn't have any windows shots. Next time we are in the house, I will be sure to capture some windows shots, but instead I thought I would focus on what will most likely be the heart and soul of our home.

In our current house (and I won't show you any pictures because it is just too cluttered) we have a wall between the kitchen and the living room. The stove is on the wall which blocks the TV from my viewing when I am cooking. I always said that my dream would be a house with a room where I could be cooking while Fran is watching TV and I could be in the same room and see what she is looking at while I am doing things, rather than stand at the edge of the room doing nothing watching the TV.

Also without a wall between us, we could talk while I am preparing rather than waiting for me to come back in the room. Also, I wanted my kitchen to have an island, so that guests could sit across from me while I was sautéing, braising, whatever on the stove and I could prepare little plates and morsels for them while they were across from me in the kitchen.

This kitchen allows for all those possibilities.

This is the kitchen from the Living room area.

See how the family is just off the kitchen.

While it is a bit of a reach for the cook to pass stuff to guests, there is ample room for a huge spread here!

The family room has a nice sized mounting area for a good sized TV (which we happen to own :rolleyes1)

There is much more counterspace than I have in my current kitchen plus there are two dishwashers in this bank, so that I can just take my dishes from one, use them and put them in the other dishwasher. :lmao: Just kidding Fran. REALLY, I will put them away and not just move from dishwasher to dishwasher. :rolleyes1

This pantry is going to need to be modified so that Olga can have her wing. We are really crazy cat ladies to do this, but then again we paid a bit of money to link #1 and #2 in our apartment together so that we didn’t have to walk through the outside. That has been a godsend. I’m sure we will be happy that Olga has her own door and isn’t confined to just one little bedroom and bathroom, although I’m not sure having the laundry room is much more of a condolence.

Now this is kind of a cool feature, the trash and recycling are built into the cabinets.

The kitchen also has a cookie sheet cupboard! We have been building these into our apartments and I think they are very cool. I’m so glad that we have one. They are pretty much an add on for what you do when you use up all the available space and have something leftover, but I think they are awesome. I hope this one fits all my cookies sheets!

We’re not exactly sure what we are going to store in here. We have glassware, but I think this needs to be for stuff we use every day, not the stuff like we have in our cabinet at home (which is shot glasses and random drinking glasses). This might be for everyday plates, cups and stuff like that as well as every day cups, mugs and other things.

I’m reposting this photo because I’m perplexed as to what to put above the fridge.

We have a number of plates that would be awesome there, but the space is only 10 inches, so I’m not sure if they would fit. Over the oven is larger and we have a “chef Goofy”, but he might be too big too. Ah decisions decisions. We need to get the dimensions of this house into the software on my computer and git planning! Stat!
