Did you ever solve it?
I solved it only once (with help of the book of course) and it took me a couple of hours. The best I ever did without the book was 2 sides and a half of a third.
My brother really got into it for awhile, so he memorized the solution, and could do it in about 2 minutes.

Now, the Rubix Pyramid I was able to solve by myself, but that was a bit easier.

That thing is evil. If I try and solve it, it gets thrown across the room. :lmao:

my son was charging a quarter per rubix cube to those who wanted it back to solid colors........this was when he was in 6th grade.......he could do it in eleven seconds......he is a little rusty now cause he is OLDER......rofl.....

WOW, now that's pretty impressive. :thumbsup2

I solved it when I was a kid! My parents were so impressed, but then the colored stickers started curling and falling off and my parents figured out I was a fraud :lmao:

There is a pattern to solve it, but it is depressing once you know it. I can solve one in under a minute, and frankly, the little thing is no more fun. It is nice to impress somebody once, but then you lose all the fun from your toy.

Another way was to take it apart, and put it back together again in the right order.

My son came back from Nerd Camp with a cube and thinking it would impress me by solving it, he was in shock when I solved it as well(learned as a kid).

I just know I could almost surely solve it, if I could replicate myself an infinite number of times, sit in a room for an infinite amount of time with an infinite number of Rubix cubes...

I did solve it, without the book, a few times when I was a teenager, but it would take me a while now, I'm sure.

I could do it in just under 2 min most of the time. Now when I pick one up I can usually get it after a few min. One time I was going nuts trying to figure one out and finally realized someone had moved some of the sticker around LOL.
I had the pyramid too, it was easier, but it was also a piece of junk IMHO. Mine eventually fell apart. I have no idea what happened to my cube.

My boss brought one of the first cubes back from a trip to England. This was before they really took off in the United States. We wasted countless hours trying to solve it. Eventually someone figured out how to disassemble and reassemble the cube, so it did get solved. This was long before any solution books were available.

I recall the height of the craze when keychain versions of the cube came out and even something called Rubik's Revenge, a version with 16 squares on each face of the cube. I worked with a guy who was one of the authors of the first solution book published for Rubik's Revenge. That particular cube never took off.

I'm sure that my cube is buried deep inside one of those cardboard boxes that are stored in the shed in my backyard. And that's where it will stay.

I can't do those stupid things. Not even close. Also those flat puzzles that have 16 squares and ones missing and you have to slide them around to put numbers back in order or make a picture. Those things drive me crazy. I bought my son a mini rubik's cube for xmas. It has four squares on each side instead of nine. Even that one I can't do. :rotfl:

When they first came out...yeeeeeeears ago! I solved it in about a week (quite by accident)...never did it again! I was ADDICTED to it!

not me. I could only do one color at a time. I did take it apart and made it look like I solved it.

I totally had it figured out

(note my appropriate use of the term "totally":rotfl: )

I could do it everytime. There was just some kind of method and once you got it, you got it. But I picked one up recently and learned that that piece of knoweledge got deleted from my brain. Darn!

See I just get "the method". Wouldn't it be different everytime? Of course, I never read the method either. :rotfl:
