YAY Dana... Great new for you!

So, did you get to the beach today? OK temps today up here in North AL, but no sunshine...completely overcast.

Yes it is awesome news . I have been sitting around this house for 2 months now and in the process of not being able to exercise or anything else I gained 8 pounds . I am going to get back to my exercising.


We did get to the beach. It was cold, overcast and VERY windy. I am downloading my pictures as we speak then I will transfer them to photobucket so I can post them. I think I got some really good pictures.

AWESOME! news Dana...I know you are thrilled to finally be able to go back to work!
I hope you were able to go out to the beach today and get your margarita (mmmm that sounds good--may need to find one after Dayne's bball game tonight! )

I AM so happy to be going back to work. The idea of staying home is nice, but actually doing it is something else.

I had a very yummy lunch at Vallarta's with a delicious frozen margarita. We had a really nice day even though it was very overcast and windy.

Hope Dayne won his bball game .

Tomorrow is the big day for the Saints. I know after they win, tomorrow night, Bourbon St. will never be the same .

Dale and I took our day trip along the beach today. I got up about 7:30 this morning and started getting ready. I asked Amanda last night if she would watch Dallas if he didn't want to go and she said she would, so this morning when I asked Dallas if he wanted to go he said "Noah, I'll just stay here". I finished getting ready and we were out the door and on the road by 9:00ish. We rode through downtown Mobile and I took a few pictures along the way. I really didn't know what setting to put my camera on so I had it on the sports setting with my new telephoto lens.

Mobile is a really old city so there are really old houses and architecture.This is an old church on Government Street.

We have a Mardi Gras Museum downtown and I tried to get a picture of the statues outside, but I messed it up so this is a blurred picture of one of them

Going into the Bankhead tunnel. The statue is of Admiral Raphael Semmes. He was a commander in the Confederate States Navy.

There are two tunnels in Mobile. The Bankhead tunnel, going through downtown Mobile, and the Wallace tunnels on I-10.


I think I am going to stop here for tonight. Photobucket is loading really slow for some reason. I will pick back up tomorrow. I welcome any suggestions on picture taking. I really want to get this down before we go to Disney.

Nice!! Chris has a Nikon D40x, and it takes AWESOME pictures!!! I like having his camera with us when we go places, but if there's even a HINT of rain, we won't take it. Don't want THAT one to get ruined!!!

I know what you mean. I will bring my Fujifilm point and shoot with me too so if it looks like rain the Canon will stay in the room.

When I left off last night we were going through the tunnel. The tunnel is under Mobile Bay and when you come out of the tunnel you either take the Causeway(Hwy 90-98) or the Bayway(I-10)

Soooooooooo, we went the Causeway. The Bayway wasn't built until the 70's so the Causeway was the only way to get from Mobile to the Eastern Shore before then.

Here are a few pictures of the USS Alabama and Battleship Park

After passing the Battleship Dale noticed a tanker going out so he told me to take a picture. You can tell how overcast and foggy the weather was.

On Thursday's you can see the cruise ship going out.

We drove on and decided to go through Foley and Robertsdale to Gulf Shores on Hwy 59.

I love how it looks like the shark is eating the car. This is a souvenir shop at the beach

If you look in the background you can see the yellow flag is flying.

We drove on through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We ate a Vallarta's and I don't know why I didn't get any pictures of the food, but it was yummy. I had my margarita and it was yummy too. After we ate we decided to ride on down to Pensacola Beach and Ft. Walton Beach. I was able to get a lot of pictures from the car.

Most of you know that I am terrified of heights and bridges. This is a picture of one of the highest bridges I have ever been over. The picture does the height of this bridge no justice.

As we were on our way to Pensacola Beach we got behind a car that had all kinds of decorations and so forth on the back and a bumper sticker that said--"It's only kinky the first time you do it"............. I don't know about ya'll, but I don't think I would ride around with that on my car.

Going through Warrington, Fl. I like the "Open Books" sign.

If you look at the apartment on the right it has a for rent sign. Dale gets the bright idea that we should rent it and move there.......... Now if you look in the parking lot there is a Rolls Royce. Oh OK, let's just pull in and I will write a check for the rent .

Would I like to live there? Of course, well that is until a storm was coming in then it would be .

Awwww....I just love seeing that sign. Love Gulf Shores, my parents own a time-share condo down there, so it's our next favorite place to be after Disney. So when I saw that sign....that's the way we travel, right through Robertsdale and those little towns.

Now this water tower thingy in Orange Beach ....this makes me hungry....because it is on the road that cuts over from 180 to Canal. Doc's is on Canal and that is our favorite place to eat. I'll have a "Little 'un" !

i love your pictures what kind of camera is your new camera? I am also so glad that you are going well and have been released to go back to work Did you have a good time at the beach? How has the weather been in your area? Its been low 40's hear and rain and is going to drop into the 20's this week with snow ugh!! I just picked my dates today for my sept trip I cant wait!! You are going to have to let me know how you like CBR! have you ever stayed there before? We are going back to ASMU in Sept-- its so cheap only $991 a person-- thats with hoping for the free meal plan * crossing fingers* so we really cant beat that for the price. Are you going to go back to disney again in the fall? Also-- did you ever try the plaza before? I think you did-- if i remember correctly-- and how did you like it? We are thinking of trying it for the first time this year-- i know i still have awhile to go-- but i want to start planning early so i can get excited about something I hope you had a great weekend- and good luck going back to work!

OK, we finally made it to P'cola Beach.

So the man taking our toll said be very careful the surf is bad and the red flags are flying. I guess we looked like we were going swimming?.......

We had to stop at the beach so I could go to the ladies room. Remember I had a margarita? When I came out I took a picture of these people walking on the beach. You can see how rough the water is.

We get back in the car, after almost freezing, and drove on.

We had a very good day. On the way home we stopped at Sam's club and bought some stuff and then went to Target to finish up. It was a long day and very tiring, but sooooooooo good. I go back to work tomorrow and I am going to work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 12 hour shifts so my posts may be few and far between on here for the next 3 days. I know I am going to be exhausted, but it will be nice to be back at work!!!!

Michelle, I know you love your parents having that time share. There is so much to do down there now. I bet you have even spent some time at Tanger Outlet? I miss the Disney Outlet store and West Point. I hate that they both closed.

We have never been there to eat. We go do Canal Rd most of the time, because we go the Beach Express. I will make sure we go to Doc's .

Thank you Becky. The funny thing is we don't even stay at the beach anymore. We did when Amanda and Tyler were little, but now we just go for a day and then come back home. I think I have some pictures of Amanda and Tyler somewhere in the sharks mouth, but I don't know where I put them.

Thanks Desiree! I have a Canon Rebel. I love it. I have been wanting a DSLR for a long time and finally got one. I'm so happy about going back to work. It has been really hard not working. We had a good time yesterday. It was really cold and windy so we didn't get to walk on the beach, but it was still nice. It rained most of the day today so I just stayed in and posted my pictures.....lol. I enjoyed our trip in September. I don't think we will be going back in September because we want to go around Christmas. We have ate at Plaza 3 times and we really like it. I don't have an ADR there for May because we are eating at Tony's. I love planning a Disney trip, it is so much fun looking forward to seeing Castle.

I think I had a small heart attack as the ball flew through the up rights on that field goal!!! Danny and I had both left the room several times and were standing ..... I was shaking....never ever thought I would see the Saints go to the superbowl. If I was not getting chloe in the morning and Danny didn'thave to work we would be on Bourbon right now!!!!! I want to book a room for the superbowl in NO but Danny doesn't want
