A couple of hours after Dale called me to let me know our vacation dates were safe he called me back. He said his dad had just left and had given Dale a box and a note from his mother

Dale's birthday is tomorrow and last week his dad dropped by his job and gave him his birthday card. Dale's parents live very close to where he works. He works in Lucedale, Mississippi( a very small town) at a small company. They always give $40 which, to me, is a pretty nice birthday gift since his birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas. When he opened his card it had $100 in it. Dale said they have NEVER given $100 for a birthday, I know in the 23 years we have been together they haven't.
It may not mean anything, but as a nurse I have seen this kind of behavior in patients with terminal illnesses. Dale's parents aren't necessarily my favorite, but I sure wouldn't want anything to be wrong. They are my kids grandparents.
