Hi, I'm new here!:goodvibes

I'm wondering if anybody has any thought on the Red Lion? I booked it yesterday through Priceline. $70.00 for Thanksgiving weekend. Good deal?
I've been to DLR many times' but have never stayed at this hotel.
Didn't it used to be a Holiday Inn, years ago?

Thanks,
Lori

We stayed at the Red Lion last February, and found it to be a very nice hotel. I would rate it at least 2.5 stars, not super fancy, but good rooms and service. We didn't use the pool because it was a short, rainy trip so we spent most of our time at the parks. I'm not going to rave about it, but it is certainly a nice place, and I would stay there again.

It is walking distance (1/2 mile) for older kids and adults, if you have small children you may want to make sure you have a stroller. We have annual passes, one with parking included, so we opted to drive the car to the parks so we didn't have to walk home when people were tired. However, we would walk to the hotel during the day if we needed anything, since it was faster.

One thing I can recommend about the walk is that there is a 7-11 on the way, so you can stop and get coffee/sodas without paying Disney prices.

Yes Lori, it was a Holiday Inn, then a Radisson, then very briefly had an independent name (probably for legal reasons during the Red Lion changeover). $70 sounds fair; it looks to be completely remodeled. The only problem I had with it as a Radisson was that it had a pool only, no jacuzzi - one of my favorite hotel features! Don't know if they've remedied that or not, but Thanksgiving may be cold anyway. Enjoy!

My family and I have stayed there several times. The hotel itself was very nice and clean. $70 sounds like a good deal to me. Personally I found it a bit far to walk. It was certainly do-able but after walking all day at the park the half mile walk back seemed to be a LONG way. Good deal all-in-all though!

Thanks you guy's! The rooms look lovely!
I'm wondering for any of you familar with the area... does the Garden Walk have a Starbucks we could pop into, on the way to the park?:surfweb:

There is no Starbucks in Garden Walk but there is a coffee shop, or was when we were there in March. I'd look for GW web site and see if they have a directory, pretty sure they do.

If it has to be Starbucks, there is one in the lobby of the Hilton by the convention center. That might actually be more convenient than the Red Lion anyway.

Thanks Peter!
It doesn't have to be Starbucks, just something a little better than the Denny's or I-Hop cuppa Joe!
