we are doing the American Civil War in history, and we were discussing about the original 13 states (Massachusetts ftw.) and how they expanded to 50 states, and then my friend said...

hey guys, aren't there 52 states? Hawaii and Alaska?

so I said 'eem, Amy, Alaska and Hawaii are included in the 50 states...'
Then one of the girls in my class used to live in Toronto, and she was like 'alaska is the other side of canada but it's still an American state, go figure.'

I want to cry, that I can't go to the game tomorrow. I want to run the Fenway bases that Jacoby Ellsbury and Marco Scutaro's very shoes have touched, and I want to scoop up some dust and keep it forever, and never wear the shoes I wore again, so that the dust will never come off them.

I'm so upset. the sox had an epic weekend planned, yesterday was Ted Williams day and Johnny Pesky's birthday, today is We Love Lowell day and tomorrow everyone gets 2011 season schedule magnets and gets to run the bases at the end of the game
