The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Yes! Just after our anual June vacation we decided to get on the dvc wait list for BCV through disney (thought it would take a couple of months) and the points came through for us in a week! Then we decided to go back in July (my excuse was to look at AKV):rolleyes1 and then we added on to our points with the AKV incentive. Dh and I both teach so we aren't rolling in the dough! But.....we are devoted to Disney:worship:

That sounds familiar -- I would say we are devoted to Disney ourselves (although I don't think Charles has actually admitted it out loud yet).

Jackie---the DVC owners can book at their home resort at 11 months out--if you are wanting AKL--you would just obviously address your request to an AKL owner or look for those who say they have AKL points for rent. BUT any DVC owner can book at all other DVC resorts at 7 months out. Hope that helps dear!!! I will DEFINITELY be thinking of you tomorrow morning!!! I'll be missing our mid-afternoon "chats" via the DIS, but will be thinking of you! Part of me wishes I was going back to school with you tomorrow!!! Sleep tight tonight dear----Jen

I shall have to peruse the DVC boards and see what I find. :goodvibes

Thank you -- Chelsea is having a hard time falling asleep so it may not be quite the restful night of sleep I envisioned.

Jackie,

Have a great first day!

Thank you! :goodvibes I have that excited/nervous/first day of school feeling right now and am more wired than I would like to be.

Saturday morning Charles woke me up and asked me if I wanted to head to the Animal Kingdom for EMH. In my not-quite-awake state and after the ordeal of the open hotel room door, I told him that I thought we should just head home.

WHAT WAS I THINKING???

Sadly, I know what I was thinking -- I was thinking that I didn't want to leave all of our stuff in our room while we went to one last park, and I didn't want to leave it all in the car (partly because we had bought some chocolate covered pretzels as a gift for someone).

I wish now that we had gone to Animal Kingdom. June seems a long way away. Well, it is a long way away. It is exactly ten months away from our check-in day.

As we crept about trying to pack up, but allow the kids to sleep as long as possible, we saw the most precious sight ever. Connor sprawled all over his sister's legs. We had spent a week listening to them moan about how horrible it was to have to share a bed with each other, and we had a hard time not laughing as we took pictures to prove that they really do like each other (even if it is just when they are asleep). Connor is mortified by these pictures, so we won't tell him that they are posted on a public forum for all the world to see. :rotfl:

Once packed, we woke the kids up and headed to the food court for breakfast. I had a Mickey waffle, Connor had the kids' Mickey waffles, and Chelsea and Charles had breakfast platters. Yum! I wish I could have Mickey waffles every morning, but I guess they might lose their charm if they were a regular thing.

We loaded up the car, checked out, I bought the 4th of July Mickey antenna topper, and cried as we drove off Disney property. Well, I cried -- I cry as we arrive and I cry as we leave.

The drive home was not quite as pleasant as the drive down. We encountered storm after storm from right below the Georgia line to outside of Macon. Charles did most of the driving since I hate driving in blinding rain. We made it home in one piece, and I started plotting the next trip...

UP NEXT: Souvenir Hit Parade!

This can't be the end of your report. So sad, I need a Oct. pre-trip report. But I understand once school start, their are papers to grade, and lessons to plan. Have a great year and may Chelsea adjust wonderfully to middle school.

I know, I had no Jack to help assuage the agony of Jiri's cliffhanger:(.

I know, I know. I should have foreseen the mutiny I would cause. ;)

:rotfl: In TK's and LL's eyes, it was a cliffhanger of enormous proportions!

One that will last all of four days...

That's what I wanna know!

Oh. Well I guess that makes some sense, but...

...I think I would've agreed with this sentiment.

 :rotfl:

Those pictures are great! Add them to the photo-fodder for Connor's wedding. ;)

I can't believe your TR is almost done! :sad2: I hope you think that 10 months isn't too soon to start a PTR, because I am going to go through major Jackie withdrawals, complete with cold sweats and shaking.

The pics of Chelsea and Connor are precious!

I can't believe your tr is almost over. :sad1:

I hope you get to Disney with Charles in October.

I hope you, Chelsea, and Connor have a wonderful first day of school. May it be a fast, productive year. Fast so June can get here and you can be in Disney again :cloud9:

awwwwwwww........this is so sweet!!!!! your kids are just too adorable.

reminds me of a picture of me and my little brother. although i'm 10 years older than him so it's not so much a matter of us constantly fighting, but of him wanting to do everything i did and me being annoyed by him! he gave me this picture in a card on the day i got married and i have it framed in my office. i'm guessing i was about 13 and he was about 3 here. we were both sound asleep when my dad took it. :goodvibes

so sad your TR is almost done. can't wait to see your souvenirs though!!! and i hope there's another trip to read about in your near future. ;)

Sorry that you missed AK on that last day. Next time you'll listen to Charles, huh? ;)

I am sorry your TR is over, but soooo sooo happy that it coincided with my leaving for my trip!! I got to get my Disney itch scratched almost up to departure day.

I love the pics of Chelsea and Connor. So adorable.

sad that u r home now. it was fun. 10 months will go by faster than u know.

I can't believe it's almost over! I guess I knew you had to finish and go back to school. You will be doing an extra long pretrip report for next year, right?

Gosh I hate the end! :sad1: And you are not the only one tearing up as they leave Disney property! :rolleyes1 The sleeping pictures are adorable!! Charles asking about EMH... he's really starting to embrace this Disney thing. DVC could be an "easy" sell... now all you have to do is gather a spare $15K or whatever it costs!

10 months does seem like a long time but there are resorts to investigate (and switch to), ADR's, touring plans and other fun stuff to keep you busy. And, lest you forget, there is still (?) the possibility of an October trip?

Hope you have a great first day at school. :) Sorry about the surprise you got regarding the returning students not all coming back to your class.

First off, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?!?!!?!?! Second, I think Charles has the Disney Bug pretty badly. Yep, we are on to you Mister. :cool2:

The pictures of the kids are so adorable. :goodvibes

Ohhhhh Jackie... passing up park time. I bet that is hard to believe now, but that last day I just wanted to get over... as did you it sounds like!

Looking forward to seeing your loot!

Oh Jackie--what a sad morning!!! You have to find a way to keep us entertained between now and next June---because we all aren't going anywhere. We are going to be like the houseguests that never leave---you can't just get rid of us, so you are going to have to find something to tell us about. At this point, even if it is the weekly visit to the grocery store---we will be there hanging by every last word of the trials and tribulations of grocery shopping!!! Happy First Day--by my clock you are 17 minutes into it---hope things are good for you today!!! Jen

Such CUTE pictures of the kids! Sorry that the not so magical moment from the day before kept you from wanting to grab some last minute magic:sad2: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful report with us:thumbsup2 Good Luck with the school year and your trip plans for next year!:thumbsup2

oooooh your last day saddens me :sad1: But I shall use FDM to make it better....lets see.....the night you found your door open put a damper on that night (so that's 1) and then you were still feeling the open door blues the next morning and didn't go to AK (so that's 2). OK by my Fuzzy Disney Math you have 2 days that you can add on to any Disney vacation....free of money guilt. You can use it for October or to add to June 2009.

That was a great idea! To use that picture in slideshow for Connors wedding! So funny!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't Mickey waffles so much better than all other waffles? Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to see the report end!

Awe... I love the pictures like that! I've got one from when K and T were maybe 4 and 7... I should blow it up and hang it in the living room for the world to see that they haven't ALWAYS bickered and moaned about each other!

I can't wait for the souvenir hit parade!

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I fully endorse the logic! :thumbsup2
