The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Hey Jackie--did Charles and the kids ride the green or orange version of MS? I do LOVE that ride, but I can understand the desire to NOT want to ride it too!! Great installment!! Looking so forward to more! Jen

I don't think I will ever get over not wanting to ride that one -- the others I think I am almost ready to ride, but not Mission:Space. ;)

Nope, no spinning. It still shakes and stuff, but that's it. :thumbsup2

The green version and I might get along well together, then!

Subcribing! Just been a lurker but I love your TR! Only on page 32 now!

Welcome!!! Thank you for reading!!! If you use the links on the first post, you can bypass all the chit chat!

All caught up! The benadryl thing is too funny! Poor Charles! I'm excited to ride Space Ship Earth this time! It was closed during my last trip. Too bad about all the stops though!

Can't wait for more!

More will be coming up shortly. We are still bringing up the benedryl thing two weeks later!

Seriously. Last time he did it I said, "No, Darth, I will not call you Dad and seriously. Keep panting at me. Let's see what child services has to say about that."

I hear the Dark Side has cookies, though. If they're Toll House and right out of the oven I don't know if I'll be able to resist.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Holy CARP Batman!

The only thing I'll stand in line for almost 3 hours for is.
Well.
Hm.
Jack Sparrow.

You are too funny! I can't see standing in line for three hours for anything -- well, maybe Harrison Ford's autograph! ;)

Finally caught up!

Your dh's benadryl coma sounds familiar to me! I experienced one in the same park!

The DHS Benedryl Curse! I debated getting him a wheelchair that day, but decided I would just tuck him back into bed! :lmao:

I sense an update coming!

Alright, CP, where are you? Sleeping late? What do you think this is summer?;) :lmao:

Inquiring minds need to live vicariously through your trip report!:thumbsup2

Yep, it's update day!

I was sleeping late since I stayed up reading a really good book last night. I didn't really want to stop reading, but I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

But there will be an update today, I promise! :yay:

With our Fast Passes for Test Track in hand for later in the afternoon, we headed to World Showcase. It was a long, hot walk to Mexico.

We decided on an early lunch at Cantina de San Angel:

Charles, Chelsea, and I ordered nachos; Connor ordered the kid's quesadilla; churros for everyone for dessert. Side note: it was a TREMENDOUS amount of food. We easily could have split a couple of orders of nachos between the four of us. It was the last time we would attempt to eat three meals in one day, and I was glad we hadn't attempted to do the Deluxe Dining Plan. There is no way we could have eaten all that food!

The birds at the Cantina are quite persistent and bugged us through most of the meal. They would just stand near our table and stare. Connor, in particular, kept saying, "I can't eat with all these bird eyes on me!" :lmao: Chelsea was quite bothered by one bird that walked with a limp. She was not amused when I tried to make her feel better by saying, "It's probably just his gimmick to get chips." Sometimes my pre-teen has no sense of humor! ;)

We had never tried churros before, but I can assure you it is now something we will get again! They remind me of funnel cakes dipped in cinnamon. Mmmmmm!

After eating too much, we headed inside the pyramid:

Chelsea and Connor acted like Aztecs (well, Connor did anyway):

We rode the Grand Fiesta Tour (no wait). It was a relaxing ride to take while our lunches digested. I love the Small World like scenes near the end! Then we played in the marketplace. The kids had fun trying on sombreros and decided they wanted Oaxacan wood carving animals. I love those little, brightly colored and carved animals! Chelsea and Connor took a long time choosing just the right ones for themselves.

From Mexico we headed towards Norway. Connor posed in front of the Viking ship. It used to be a play area -- anyone know why it isn't anymore? We sat and watched the Norweigan musicians, and Connor wanted to walk through the stave church to look at Viking artifacts. He cracked us up when he saw Erik the Red and exclaimed, "I know that guy!" I had no idea. :lmao:

We took several pictures in Norway:

We rode Maelstrom (again, no wait) which Connor loved -- he liked all the trolls and going backwards. In the gift shop, Connor, still channeling his inner Viking, decided he wanted an axe and shield. Charles insisted that the kids pose with the troll. Is it just me or does Connor look just like Elmer Fudd in this photo? :rotfl:

Connor after getting his weapons, wanted several pictures of himself as a Viking:

We still had a little time to kill before our Test Track FPs, so we headed to China.

Chelsea bought a necklace and earrings in the Chinese shop there, and Connor found a television showing some sort of cartoon show with the Olympic mascots. The boy can sense a television when it's on!

Our last ride was Test Track. As always it was very fun and very fast. I love the part where it is a bunch of switchbacks around curves -- the kids and Charles, of course, love where it goes outside around the building the best.

At this point, it was almost 3:00. We debated staying until it was time to go to Chef Mickey's, but I wanted to drop off all of our purchases so we headed back to the hotel.

I'll say. Orlando to Mexico. Quite the trip. Might've been faster to swim. I hope Border Patrol didn't give you any problems.

The birds at the Cantina are quite persistent and bugged us through most of the meal. They would just stand near our table and stare.

Consider yourself lucky. One stood ON my table. And he was giving me the eye, practically DARING me to shoo him away!

I think this is my favorite.

the Joy of the Mickey Mouse Oreo BonBon

I'm hungry.

another great update Jackie! I agree the one of Connor with his weapons is priceless! I am soo mad at myself for not being able to do WS!! looking forward to more...

Great update! Looks like you had a great time in the World Showcase, I like how you just hit a few countries then left. We did them all in one day, and boy were we tired!

Hey a picture of Charles snuck in there. Is there one of you anytime soon? I love the troll picture and yes Connor is channeling his inner Elmer Fudd.:lmao:

Is it wrong that all I can think about right now is a nice cold slushy margarita?

And my favorite night from my last trip when I ate here...

:::sigh:::

It will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine.

We had never tried churros before, but I can assure you it is now something we will get again! They remind me of funnel cakes dipped in cinnamon. Mmmmmm!

:::sigh::: Whoops, now my keyboard's all wet!:headache:

He cracked us up when he saw Erik the Red and exclaimed, "I know that guy!" I had no idea. :lmao:
Okay, I love it when kids bust out with stuff like this. These are those moments in life that you'll always remember, not because it was profound, but because it was so dang funny!

Chelsea bought a necklace and earrings in the Chinese shop there
Alright, I'm with your girl Chelsea. I love shopping in China. All of China. I think we do it at least twice every trip. And I do love the jewelry section. I have many...ahem...purchases from that jewelry section. Also, pardon the hijack, but the painting that hangs in our living room I bought there on our first trip with DS. He was but a baby, and I talked DH into spending the money on this gorgeous painting even though I wasn't working and we had to take money out of our savings to do it. But I still love it, even now, and it's still in our living room. Moral of the story...if you see something you like, buy it.:goodvibes

Alright, I've never been a fan of the dinner offerings at Chef Mickey's, which is why we always do breakfast there, but I am intrigued by the Oreo BonBon. It sounds delish!

Jackie!

I love your TR!

I was so excited to get on my computer today because I knew that you would have started your TR. And it is AWESOME!

That's so crazy about Charles being in a near coma for the first day of the trip. You handled that very well. I would have force fed Gordon and Red Bull and kicked him in the booty!

Your kids are gorgeous.

I love how big you're smiling in the pic with Darth Vader!

Your Boma dinner sounded delicious. It's so hard to resist all that great food.

Can't wait for more!

Great update!

There were birds everywhere when we were at Cantina de San Angel, too. This guy at the table next to us kept feeding them nachos, so you know they were flocked all around us! We saw a one-legged bird and one with food stains on it's side - it made me sad! :worried:

I have never heard of the Mickey Mouse Oreo BonBon, but it sounds delicious! I hope you have a picture! :goodvibes

Love the viking photos, Connor looks as though he was really getting into the role :rotfl:

Jackie--great installment again!! Love the Viking pictures! When Megan gets older, I SO can't wait to take a little more time going through WS. Right now, everything is pretty much lost on her except the rides!! Oh well, something else to look forward to in the future!!! After seeing the smile on Charles' face--I am pretty sure he is really a Disney nut in disguise! He just doesn't want to let on!!!

I love that conner embraced his inner viking!:rotfl2:
There is something about those viking hats that attracts everyone!

Connor looks like a lot of fun to take to a place like Disney! And I love how much effort both kids take in choosing they souvenirs!

Does anyone know other places in Disney to get a Churro? I'll need one on my next visit.....or 2...or 3.......

Ummmm LOVE the update. We truly enjoyed EPCOT more than any park on our last trip and spent many days in WS.

BTW-what book are you reading that you cannot keep your head up for???? I am looking for a good read.
