The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

That Mom's club stuff is so cool! I love the Tink pins. I hope your DS feels better soon, I used to get strep all the time as a kid, it's no picnic. :goodvibes

Yay for the Mom's Club treats :yay:

Poor Connor!!! I hope he's feeling better.

Maybe Charles is not really anti-Disney. Maybe he even has a ptr on here.

So now I'm rollin' in my van with my Sorcerer Mickey antennae topper AND my Mickey Moms Club magnet. DH is seriously hoping his car doesn't break down and he ends up with my Disney Mom Mobile!

Tell you husband to be thankful that all you have on your car....my license plate is MRYPPNS !

Hiya! Great update, by the way. I was wondering what the stuff looked like, because I never signed up for it. :confused3

Anyways, you can book Lunch with an Imagineer 60 days out, and it's 11:30 at the Hollywood Brown Derby. It's a table of 8 they said, and we fill up about half, so I made sure to get it.

That sounds like so much fun!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

how nice. I love the pics, very cute.
:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I got my package yesterday too! I slapped that magnet right on the back of my car. It was on my fridge till I read here on the DIS that it was a car magnet, my bad.:rolleyes1 So now I'm rollin' in my van with my Sorcerer Mickey antennae topper AND my Mickey Moms Club magnet. DH is seriously hoping his car doesn't break down and he ends up with my Disney Mom Mobile!

Enjoy your goodies! Thankfully one of my kids already had that pin so the 3 of them didn't have to fight over the two of them!

Allyson

I put it on the fridge because I am afraid that someone will steal it off my car :confused3 . You know, some disgruntled Disney mom that wished she had one or a middle schooler during a fire drill.

Besides, Charles likes to borrow the van to run errands so he can listen to Metallica really loud with the windows down. The Mickey Moms Club magnet might ruin his "cool" image. :lmao:

That is such fun Disney mail!

The pins are awesome!

It's funny that your DH opened it before you got home.

I'm sorry Connor has strep...that hurts!

Yeah, Charles "pretends" to be ambivalent, but couldn't seem to keep his hands off a Disney envelope :confused3 . Go figure!

Connor didn't even act sick or run a fever before I took him to the doctor (the school nurse said his throat was really inflamed). He still isn't feeling bad except for his throat hurting. It's a weird case of it.

We have never cruised before, and originally had booked a 7 night cruise, but backed down to the 4 day. I am happier about this because it allows us some days in WDW, whereas the 7 nighter would have wiped that out quick. Think about it-go when we are going!!! We leave Dec 6(day after Walt's birthday), 2009!! Pretty sure it is the 6th! I am thinking about 3 nights in WDW before the cruise will be satisfactory!! It is costing us $2100 for the 4 of us in a porthole cabin. I didn't think that was horrible. the 7 nighter was $3400-which I didn't think was bad either. I already have $130 in Disney Dollars saved up!! I am actually hoping for free flights to and from WDW through DH and also enough points for hotel stay. If not, I would love to try to stay at the Poly(for a good price) or WL, or even just at a mod. I just have SUCH a mental block about spending more than a value price on a room. I mean, you JUST sleep and bathe there. It is just me and my frugal ways. :confused3 The Poly is my dream, but WL is my new dream!:cloud9:

Lori

I priced out the December 6th cruise and it would be about $2100 for us, also. So tempting! It could be a 35th b-day gift for me, a 40th b-day gift for Charles, and part of Christmas. Hmmm...have you already booked it?

That Mom's club stuff is so cool! I love the Tink pins. I hope your DS feels better soon, I used to get strep all the time as a kid, it's no picnic. :goodvibes

He said at one point, "Even the tiniest globs of spit hurt to swallow." :(

He somehow convinced me to live on ice cream yesterday -- I figured it was dairy, therefore healthy. :)

Maybe Charles is not really anti-Disney. Maybe he even has a ptr on here.

I think it is a great big act on his part. I have always said he is just like Eeyore, and I think he thinks outwardly showing his Disney excitement would ruin his "Oh woe is me" image.

We joke all the time about what his DIS name could be.

Tell you husband to be thankful that all you have on your car....my license plate is MRYPPNS !

:rotfl:

I got mine, too!! I splapped that Car magnet right on my side so I could see it every time I get in.. Of course, then Jake complained because it looks girly next to his Dutch Fork Silver Foxes magnet. So I told him I'd move it......his magnet to the other side!!!! :rotfl: I'm sure Emily won't mind sharing her magnet space with me! :thumbsup2

What a cool package! I've already been thinking about how to give away my pins. We had a great time doing that last June!!

I totally remember that! It hurt so badly, and I always seemed to get it around major holidays like Christmas and Easter. And if you even feel one iota guilty about the ice cream, don't. It probably feels so good on his throat. I remember popsicles as being really helpful too! :)

Dropping in after a long day and a huge sushi dinner to say hello :)

Charles may have a trip planning binder hidden from you :lmao:

Yes we booked it already and I put down $1000, I had to use my Disney CC, and about half is paid off as of right now. We are in a Cat.9 room and it IS for the 6th. We will also be celebrating our 40th's! DH will be 40 in October 2009 and I will be 40 in Feb of 2010. PLUS it will be just days after DD10's 12th birthday. So we will celebrate that too! I will PM you the room #. I used Dreams Unlimited and it came with a $50 room credit, plus I will get $50 for using my Disney CC to pay it off(which i will anyway, b/c then I get more Disney Dollars!). Like I said though, we don't use credit like credit so much. I use my Disney CC as a "debit" card so to say. Since it is not debit and cannot be, I just pay it off every paycheck.

It would be cool to meet you and your family! It seems so far off, but it keeps me extra happy that I have a WDW and DCL trip in the fairly near future!!

Our quote , to be exact is $2125.92. I have not gotten trip insurance yet.

I have gotten some cool tips from the Dis about the DCL and being in the Bahamas too.

BUT I had to put it down b/c i NEED to focus on other things right now-but have , in HUGE red letters, for December this year, to start booking stuff for that trip!!

Too funny about Jake!!! I have been planning on how to give my pin away, too, without seeming like a weirdo!

Oh, I didn't feel guilty at all -- I figure ice cream was better than nothing.

:offtopic: I saw TMZ for the first time today!! I couldn't change the channel... it really is brain candy.

Now, I really need to turn it on sometime!

Love your Disney mom package!! What fun!!

It was fun! Disney mail always brightens my day!

Charles may have a trip planning binder hidden from you :lmao:

I was only on sporadically last night -- I got sucked into a book I was reading and couldn't put it down.

Dinner sounds yummy!

Charles and a trip binder? That would require him to be organized! :rotfl2:

I really, really, really want to go -- I want a reason to buy the Passporter Cruise guidebook  -- I wonder if I could convince Charles to use some of the IRS stimulus for the down payment on the cruise?

Both our families would be celebrating birthdays! :thumbsup2

NOTE: Our Photopass pics came from Typhoon Lagoon finally came today. I posted the one of Chelsea and Charles on the Crush n' Gusher if you want to look.

Surfing the Lagoon

As most of you know, the dilemma of Le Cellier has been nagging at me lately. Despite the fact that it is appears to be the most coveted reservation at WDW, with the new menu changes, it no longer excites me. At All.

Sunday, I decided to bring it up to Charles again. I wanted to change it for a couple of reasons.

1. Menu changes -- I wanted Le Cellier for the maple bbq glazed filet. Without that, I just don't want to go.
2. The way I set up our itinerary we would be doing the Magic Kingdom on our first full day. Don't get me wrong, I am a Magic Kingdom kind of girl -- love the place, love the Castle, love the rides, love all of it to pieces :lovestruc. But...I don't want to do it on our first full day. Why? For the simple reason that we have been there twice since the June trip (once for MNSSHP and once for MP&PP). I miss the other parks. I am afraid that we need a teensy break from MK. So, if we changed Le Cellier, we could then do Epcot on our first full day with dinner at Chef Mickey's and wait to do the Magic Kingdom until Wednesday.

That left us with trying to decide where to eat. I wanted Charles's input. I read somewhere once -- either in psych class or in a teaching textbook or in a parenting magazine -- that if you enlist the opinions and ideas of others then they have a vested interest. So, if Charles felt like he was helping plan, then he would be a little more gung-ho about the trip.

I made Charles sit down, and we studied menus. We had narrowed down our choices to either a MK resort (with my hope being Kona Cafe) or somewhere in MK itself. Here's a brief synopsis of what happened:

Me: (Scrolling through the Kona Cafe menu) Here's Kona -- it has a filet.
Charles: Wait, you are scrolling past the appetizers too fast.
Me: Because the Dining Plan no longer includes them. You get an entree and a dessert.
Charles: WHAT??? No appetizer???
Me: (Slightly exasperated because I have mentioned this numerous times) I have told you this before.
Charles: No appetizer???

He was floored by this news which wasn't really news because I had been telling him this since August :headache: . Suddenly, he was looking at the menus in a whole new light.

Which restaurant did he decide to switch Le Cellier for -- only the most coveted ADR in the World??? You'll never guess. Never in a million years.

CRYSTAL PALACE!!!

Yep, you read that right -- instead of Le Cellier, we are eating at the Crystal Palace for dinner.

A buffet.

With characters.

Because you can eat as much as you want.

That's Charles's reasoning.

And I set myself up for it.

I had to go along with it.

This whole "making them feel like they have a vested interest"? It's a big crock.

I don't really mind (except that I wanted Kona and a Lapu Lapu), because it does put us in MK on Wednesday (we will have done the other three parks by then). I am also looking forward to knowing the kids will get their pictures taken with Pooh -- it's been a semi-tradition since Chelsea's first visit. It's just such a come-down in the world -- Le Cellier for CP?

Anyway, after making the decision I had to call. Crystal Palace at 4:55 -- great. Then, came the hard part -- cancelling Le Cellier. I read off my number.

CM: This is an old number.
Me: I have had it since I was 180 days out.
CM: This is for Le Cellier!!! (No, not again!)
Me: Yes.
CM: (Laughing) If you are sure...
Me: I am sure. I figure it will make someone's night.
CM: You better believe it. (Still laughing as she presses buttons to cancel).

And that was it. Painless and easy to do. You know she told everyone after she got off the phone with me, "Someone just cancelled Le Cellier for Crystal Palace!" :rotfl2:

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe it! I would never have guessed that your DH would follow some line of reasoning that would put him on par with me! I, too gave up, Le Cellier in favor of being able to dine at the Crystal Palace on our upcoming trip. I thought, for sure, you'd be going somewhere else. I am still in awe of this development! :lmao:

Rookie mistake...YOU narrow it down to 2-3 places that you want...making sure that in those 2-3 choices you will be happy with whatever he picks...then you enlist his opinion. He thinks he's invested and you get what you want...it's a win-win. Always works for me....

Don't feel bad about doing CP over Le Cellier. I am sure your children will enjoy a character dinner more than a typical sit-down meal. Here is a good way to think of it: you can always go to a good sit-down meal in any major city, but you can only go to a good character meal in Disney.

I learned my lesson and now I lie. Biff wanted CM and I said it was booked. I did not like it last time. A little lie cannot hurt. :)

That's why I don't ask for opinions unless I know it will be the same as mine!;)

I thought LeCelier was good, but not as good as everyone on the dis says it is. But that's just me.
