The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Lately over on the food pictures thread, there have been a lot of pictures of those ice cream sandwiches that you can buy at the Main Street Bakery. I have been drooling over them all week.

So, today at the grocery store I bought all the makings for homemade chocolate chip cookies and a carton of vanilla ice cream. Tomorrow's project? Making our own Main Street Bakery Ice Cream Sandwiches.

I'll let you all know how it goes. :thumbsup2

YUM!!!

A few summers ago, we had a detective themed day, and we made ice cream sandwich magnifying glasses by taking the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sandwiches and adding licorice sticks as the handles...fun, and yummy!

That's a really cute idea! I will have to remember that!

I love those ice cream sandwiches. they were so good.

I hope mine taste half as good!

We mixed up the cookie dough last night, so we are set and ready to bake this afternoon!

Mmm, ice cream sandwiches. Pictures, please!

I was going to say, "if they turn out," but I will take pictures regardless so everyone can see what a mess we make.

Mmmm, peanut butter brownies last weekend and now ice cream sandwiches. Can I live at your house?

Sure! Chelsea and I love baking! I can't wait for the fall when I can pull out all my pumpkin and Halloween recipes!

Awwww, come on and play hookey with us in October, it will be fun times! :goodvibes

I would love too -- Charles predicted yesterday that I would break down soon and book.

Homemade ice cream sandwich cookies sound sooooooo good right now. Especially because I'm sick and my throat hurts!:lmao:

I love the caricature and silhouettes! Where did you get them done? I need to get these done for my boys in November!

Hey CP, I just wanted to let you know that I requested a quote for Dec. to WDW from the Dis's partner travel company, Dreams Unlimited, and what they quoted me was almost $400 LESS than what Disney's quote! So it may be worth it to check out what other travel company's give you on your future trips, I really had no idea they could save you that much!

(we might be moving our trip-- again.....stay tuned....)

Welcome!!! Wow! I can't believe you read all of it in one evening! I am so thrilled that you enjoyed it so much!!!

The silhouettes are done super fast, so I bet your son would sit still long enough!

I know...I couldn't stop reading it all! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes
That is great to know about the silhouettes being done so fast. I will have to keep watch for them when we go to DTD, and I think I read somewhere they also do them on Main Street at MK...

Oh my goodness-yes, I'm a lurker on that thread and the white chocolate macadmia nut one (my FAVORITE COOKIE!) about did me in. DH was on his computer downstairs so I instant messaged him about them. He came up about 30 seconds later and wanted a picture. :rotfl: I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of how yours turns out.

See, you definitely need some ice cream to soothe your throat!

We had the caricature done at POFQ (I think most resorts have the artists there in the evening) and the silhouettes done at DtD -- there was a little outdoor kiosk.

I will keep that in mind -- thanks!

Moving your trip? NOOOOO!!!!

I know...I couldn't stop reading it all! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I was thinking there was a spot on Main Street also.

Yes, it was the macadamia nut pic that made me decide to make them this weekend.

:rotfl: about your DH coming to see the pictures. Charles and I have our computers side-by-side so I am always making him lean over and look at pictures from the food thread!

We baked the cookies this afternoon and are going to assemble and eat them this evening -- I decided to do them the way Main St. Bakery does and make them "to order." :thumbsup2

We saw silhouettes in a kiosk/cart just outside of France at the WS at Epcot. May be the same booth that has the parasols that you can have personalized.

Well, there aren't any Mickey balloons, there is no view of the castle (unless you count all the glimpses in photos around the house), no Main Street music, but we do have ice cream sandwiches a la Main Street Bakery!

Here are our Original Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies made from scratch:

Here is our ice cream of choice down here in Georgia:

And here are four ice cream sandwiches assembled and ready for eating:

In case anybody is wondering: yes, they tasted as good as they look. Mmmm! Almost as delicious as Disney's!;)

YUM-O! What a fun way to bring a little Disney magic home! BTW- I just came downstairs expressly to find out if CP and family had dined on their ice cream sandwiches. Not a lot of excitement over here on a Sunday night... you are it!

Oh, man, they look delicious! Next time you go to Disney World, grab four extra little dessert plates and bring them home. Turn on Live365 Disney World music or buy a park CD, and eat your Main Street Bakery treats. You'll be right there, even when you're not!

Mayfield Dairy is awesome. They gave us ice cream for our whole third grade (over a hundred kids) at the end of last year when we were doing a TN unit.

Thanks for sharing the Disney in your weekend. We had some Disney in ours, too, with Brooklynn's party. Makes life so much more fun!

Can you ship Nicole an ice cream sandwich, please? The girl deserves so much more than Cheez Doodles !!!
