the problem with non-elastic waist shorts/pants/skirts/etc

When the pants get too big there is no waist to hold them up!

Man Im outgrowing the 12s I bought a month ago. I think I may be settling into the 10s and 11 I bought.
I can honestly say this is the first time in quite a few years that my pants havent had elastic waists

What a great problem that is and congratulaions on being ready to move on down in sizes. It is such a wonderul feeling and shows that all of your hard work is paying off.
