Day 5 -- Wednesday
It's been deemed Kingdom Day by DD -- Animal and Magic are on the agenda. Get to Animal Kindgom and head back to the safari ride. The animals are out in force and it is really beautiful. The only problem is the story line coming over the loudspeakers of the tram. I had heard they had toned down the poacher/killing the mommy and baby elephant aspect but not enough for DD unfortunately. This really shook her up tremendously. So much so that even though she finally understood that it was just make-believe, she wouldn't go on any other ride for the rest of the time at AK. We did finally convince her to go to the Conservation Station where she spent about an hour petting, brushing and hugging goats and sheep to her heart's content. We took the train back and tried to convince her to go to Asia or the dinosaur area but she wouldn't have any part of it, asking instead to leave and go to MK. So we spent a grand total of 2 hrs in the Animal Kingdom -- she wouldn't even see the Festival of the Lion King!

So off we went to MK and spent the rest of the day riding BTM (again and again and again), Splash Mt., Teacups, seeing Toon town again, etc. Stayed until closing since it was our last full day at WDW.

Got back and our room was made but no towels (we had used the others now for 3 days straight and left them in the tub as directed by the card in the room) so called for towels. DH by now was not happy at all and told me I was too nice on the phone considering the service we were receiving. They came out after about 30 minutes with our towels.

Day 6 -- Thursday
Check out! Housekeeper actually knocks on our door at 8:30 today. Figures!!! We pack up and check out at 10. Head over and rent a surry bike (DD really wanted to do it). Had fun riding around then changed into our swim suits and headed to the pool. Swam til about 1, changed in the locker rooms and headed to the food court for lunch. Then off to Sarasota for visiting.

The rest of the trip was spent at the beach where we swam near a pod of dolphins (we looked up and they were about 5 feet from us), collected shells and hung out with DH's sister and husband.

Final Thoughts
I don't know that we'll stay in the park in the near future -- we never really felt the "magic" of staying there. We don't buy much so the package option wasn't really a big deal to us. The hotel was pretty but no more pretty or well groomed than any of the other places we've stayed. The busses were terrific but we usually get a car since we visit family at some point in the trip.

DL housekeeping was a disappointment. I've never stayed in a place where they didn't at least empty the trash each day. I don't mind using towels over 2 days and not having the sheets changed during our stay but the rest was really not acceptable which I told the desk each time I had to call for housekeeping. At least make the bed, empty the trash and run a vacuum over the floor each day (which was never done during our entire trip). And it wasn't for lack of people that we could see because the hotel was not full and it was swarming at 8 each morning with housekeepers. Apparently none were assigned to our section! :)

Otherwise, the CMs were terrific and character meals were wonderful as usual. The crowds, while bigger than the other trips we've taken in Feb., were managable and we never had to use fast passes on any ride. The longest wait we had was for Dumbo -- which we expected. The trip was memorable and magical for our princess which was the main goal! As usual, we were not disappointed with that.

I'm so glad you had a good trip! Its worth it all when a little one is happy isnt it? Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks for sharing your trip report. Sounds like you guys had lots of fun.

Sorry to hear about your problems at Dixie Landings. We just got back a week ago from there and had great luck with housekeeping. I think our maid changed our towels everyday even though I put them back on the rack a couple of days.

You should write a letter to the manager of Dixie Landings and just let him/her know how disappointed you were.

I'm sure many people (including myself) will tell you that that is not the norm for a Disney Resort.

Thanks again for posting.

I'm sorry you had such bad luck with housekeeping. I have to agree with your husband..you were much nicer than I would have been. Disney resorts are more expensive than their counterparts offsite. For that amount, it is not too much to ask to have your trash emptied every day. I think you need to write a letter, too.

Thanks for sharing what sounds like a great trip (with the exception of housekeeping).

I would have been making more of a fuss about the housekeeping and a letter would have been written upon arrival at home. Though you had a great trip. Thanks for posting!

Princessmom, Thanks for the wonderful report.

As far as hosekeeping goes I also would write a letter to Disney. I find this unacceptable you paid for a service that you never received.

We stayed at DL last summer and didn't have a problem with the housekeeping, but when we transferred to the ASMu we did. We received a survey in the mail a couple of weeks after returning home and I made sure that I noted the lack of housekeeping. At least you had an otherwise pleasant trip. :D
