So……I literally just finished watching The Princess and the Frog on Disney+ (while on my elliptical - I get my best TV watching done then because I don’t doze off - LOL!) and now I’m in love with this movie. I can see why my DD18 loves it as much as she does and why Princess Tiana is her favorite Princess - she’s a lot like her - they both are hard workers and have made lots of sacrifices to work towards their goal(s).

When I heard about Splash Mountain changing to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure I was sad to see a part of my younger years and my girls childhoods leave, but happy for my DD because of how much she loves this movie. Now that I’ve watched the movie, I am super excited about the change - if done right, and I’m sure it will be, it will have all the elements it needs. - happy times, scary times, sad times a celebration at the end, great music and being by water.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet I suggest watching it - you may have a change of heart for the Splash Mountain change. I just thought I’d share my Thursday morning thoughts on this topic

We watched this move a lot when our younger daughter was little. Tiana is in her top two favorite princesses as she's independent, strong, and true to herself. When the announcement was first made I was a bit sad to see Splash as we know it potentially disappear, but do think the theming can work. We know that it will be done right.

While it's not one of my personal favorite Disney films, it is a great movie and is absolutely BEAUTIFULLY animanted. It's a testament to what the pinacle of 2-D, hand drawn animation can give us. I am not against the new ride in principle, but I do really hope they go all-out on it and make it truly special. If the cheap out, that will be very disappointing.

I only saw it two-three years ago, I enjoyed it. I noticed that Tiana celebrates hard work, which was a good message. The Prince on the other hand is just lazy.
Loved Doctor Facilier. Some of the songs were great as well. I'm hoping for some Facilier in the ride.

The prince certainly starts out as a bit of a goon, but he learns and grows through his traumatic experience. It's all good in the end.

Haven't ridden Splash Mountain for years, not since the children were small, as we don't like getting wet on a ride.

After the refurbishment we will definitely have to ride it once to experience the theming but that will be all!!

And Tiana learns to slow down a little and enjoy life instead of working non-stop.

I love this movie and so do my boys (who are now 19 and 15).

I completely agree with everything you said above. And the music is sooooo good, IMO.

I wish they'd do more 2-D -- it really is beautifully animated.

Splash Mountain didn't open until I was a young adult so I don't have childhood nostalgia related to it, but I do have nostalgia related to the music (Song of the South) and memories with my children. However, like @slo said above, The Princess and the Frog has all of the elements to make this a really good transformation.

I enjoyed the movie but still don't agree/ haven't changed my mind about the Splash Mountain retheme. I'll quote my comment from your July 6 poll:

"I think it's pretty stupid. I've been to some of the bayous in Louisiana and have never seen a mountain with a waterfall in there. In fact, it's all been pretty darn flat. Well, there is that giant sinkhole in Bayou Corne (Assumption Parish) that started out as a giant whirlpool when they drilled through the salt dome.
You want to give Tiana her own ride? Fine make it a ground level dark ride with a swamp theme starting out in New Orleans. Ride in boats like pirates but still it can be all scary and such like the haunted mansion.
Just change the sound track in Splash to something that people won't be offended by and move on. I know, some people are offended by everything but maybe there's hope."

We saw it in the theater, not super excited, and loved it so much, we took the entire girl scout troop to see it. I always thought it was very underrated.

I think over the years, Sandy, that Katie has traded in her princess scepter for that slugging baseball bat. ⚾
