The Power of Matching T-shirts: TR is over!~ 9/20

We made our way to the Tiki Tiki Room--Under New Management. I know a lot of people hate it, but I didn't.
I'm with you! It's sure not my favorite place to be, but kinda fun. When the temp outside hits 138. ;)

"Excuse me! For safety reasons, you cannot move those blocks! Please put it back where you found it!"

Which, of course, is Cast Member speak for "Excuse me! There is nothing hazardous whatsoever about moving those blocks six feet away from their previous location, but if you do it, then other guests will want to do it, resulting in catastrophic anarchy the likes of which a veritable horde of CMs would be unable to quell! So please return the block to its old location posthaste, before you bring about Armageddon!"
:lmao: So true, so true!

Great update which made me feel like a shirker because I haven't updated yet -- but I am drawing out the suspense! :goodvibes

We have never seen the Dreams Come True parade, but it looks so cute -- we should do it sometime!

Can't wait to hear about the P&PP!!! popcorn::

Great update, Jiri!

Seriously, though...could you have hit more napping attractions in one shot?:lmao:

No wonder you had trouble staying awake! That and a yummy Dole Whip to make your belly full, and there you go.

Can't wait to hear about the Pirate & Princess Party, and praying that my favorite features prominently. With photos. But I'm not pushy or anything.;)

I think you should make an Animatronic Naptime list. Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress would top the list. IASW, Country Bear Jamboree, and Tiki Tiki Tiki Room would bring up the rear. Disney should post it on the tip board. "If you'd like to take an air conditioned nap, please head to Hall of Presidents or Carousel of Progress."

V! You have the distinction of being the 300th reply (since my first post was number 1 and all the others are technically "replies"). :goodvibes

Yup, there are definitely worse places to be than the Tiki Tiki Room.

Great update which made me feel like a shirker because I haven't updated yet -- but I am drawing out the suspense! :goodvibes

You posted not too long after you replied, though! :goodvibes

And draw out your TR as long as you like, because I'm going to miss it when it's over. :sad1:

It is cute! Honestly, I preferred the AK parade, but then again I'm kinda partial. :rolleyes1 But if you could find a bit of shade, Dreams Come True is worth the 15 minutes. :thumbsup2

Well, there's probably a reason those particular attractions weren't going to be open during the PPP. :rotfl:

Time will tell. ;)

Because I don't like feeling like a shirker...:rotfl:

I wonder if 10 months away is too soon to start a pre-trip report? ;)

Finding the bit of shade is the key, I suspect!

I'm tempted to try a Dole whip this trip myself. I don't love pineapple, but everyone keeps telling me it's not overwhelming. May have to give it a try.

Enjoying the rest of the report. Can't wait to hear more about the P&P party!

Well then I'm glad I guilted you into posting! :rotfl:

Of course it's not! You're already semi-planning, right? Semi-planning is good enough for a PTR! (ohpleaseohpleaseohpleasepleasewithaDoleWhipontop)

Finding the bit of shade is the key, I suspect!

It definitely is. People will crowd in front of you, but simultaneously be envious that they have six rivulets of sweat running from their scalp while you only have three. :rotfl:

If you're not a huge pineapple fan, I'd recommend staying away from the float, at least. Melneth did say that taste was overwhelming. You could also consider a twist--most of them are properly twisted and you get the two flavors split pretty well. But yes, you must try one! :goodvibes

Enjoying the rest of the report. Can't wait to hear more about the P&P party!

I'm looking forward to writing it! :thumbsup2

Did you know all of the floats have a hidden Walt on them?

And the soothing tones of Abraham Lincoln.

:lmao:
somnambulant

Woohoo! One of my favorite $10 words!

It sounds like the Monsters Laugh Floor was a good time. I'm looking forward to that one!

Did you know all of the floats have a hidden Walt on them?

I did not! I'm going to have to scour my pix looking for them. :thumbsup2

It is a lot of fun! Unlike select other attractions, it will remain on my to-do list for next time. :thumbsup2

On another note, sorry for missing update day yesterday, everyone. Nevi was in town so she and I spent a good deal of the day together, so there was no time to post. And I really need to work on critiques tonight for the online writing group I'm in, so no time tonight. Then tomorrow night is a girls' night thing, so no time tomorrow--which means the next update will be the regularly scheduled one on Tuesday.

But it will be the PPP (first of two anticipated posts, actually) so I hope you'll all consider it worth the wait. Thanks for sticking with me! :goodvibes

All caught back up.

We made our way to the Tiki Tiki Room--Under New Management. I know a lot of people hate it, but I didn't.

I actually like this one. It's kinda cute and a nice break from the heat.

Which, of course, is Cast Member speak for "Excuse me! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And I would like to visit Hall of Presidents when I'm feeling less somnambulant. A word I use because I'm not sure there is one for "sitting or having the habit of sitting while asleep."

I'm not sure you would get a different result :lmao: I caught a few zzz's in that one myself and it was early in the day when we went.

You are fine -- we'll be here waiting. popcorn::

Have fun on your girls' night out!

I did have fun. We made bracelets with a bead representing each of us. Only the orange and the red one looked pretty similar in the dimmish light, so guess who now has two orange beads in her bracelet. :headache:

The regularly scheduled update should occur tonight. :thumbsup2

All caught back up.

:woohoo:

Hmm. I still think I'd like to give it another shot. The details on the presidents is amazing, so I really would like to have the chance to better appreciate the HOP (note the crucial lack of the I; I have no desire to appreciate the details on a pancake from a large breakfast chain restaurant).

... would still smell like themselves.

Anyway.

Back in the hotel room after spending the day at the Magic Kingdom, we talked briefly about what time we'd want to head back for Mickey's Pirate and Princess Party. We agreed we didn't need to be there right at the start time but would like to get there by 8:00 so we could see Dream Along With Mickey. Which meant leaving the hotel at about 6:30 or 6:45 to allow for enough time to get from the TTC to the gates and then have enough time to stake out decent seats for the show.

I felt very adult-like as I realized, Nevi and Melneth having promptly commenced with napping, that if we all wanted showers before the party, there would be no nap for me.

Well, it's not like I hadn't gone without sleep before.

Fast forward to the TTC. We elected to take the ferry rather than the monorail since we thought it'd be picturesque and we had enough time for the more leisurely route. And it was picturesque. So of course we had our picture taken.

And I felt the need to take a picture of another ferry.
IMG_0758.jpg

We got to MK proper at about 7:40 and headed for the Castle to wait for Dream Along With Mickey. And took the opportunity to have our picture taken in front of the Castle.

image29-1.jpg

From there, we proceeded to wait. And amuse ourselves with taking pictures of Melneth and Dumbo. And continue to wait. Until the voiceover message at around 8:10 saying there had been a slight delay and the show would start shortly. We joked that Mickey had collapsed and needed CPR. Though we quieted that talk when we realized small children might overhear us.

We also debated the gender of the costumed characters; Nevi hoped that the male characters were truly played by males. "I wouldn't be surprised," I said, "if the smaller characters, like Mickey and Donald, are played by females. Have you seen how skinny their legs are?"

"Peter Pan was male," Nevi said, and I agreed that yes, the Peter Pan CM was male. But I also noted that in the play, traditionally Peter is played by a female due to all the aerial work.

Yes, we do have these types of discussions.

Dream Along With Mickey started at about 8:20. And lasted for all of five minutes, the duration of the first song. Then another voiceover announced that "We are unable to continue this performance of Dream Along With Mickey, but we hope you'll join us for the 10:15 show. Thank you, and have a magical night."

So then we felt bad for joking about Mickey's health status, and truly hoped he (or she) was okay. But the parade was set to start at 8:30, so we booked it over to Frontierland so we could watch it from its starting point and then have plenty of time to catch attractions and find treasure (though our focus was on the attractions) before the fireworks and the second show of Dream Along With Mickey.

Aside from a certain pirate and the alligator, I just like seeing the progression from evening to true night in those photos. If I were an unpublished poet rather than an unpublished novelist, I might try to come up with some meaningful and lovely bit of verse to describe it. But I am not an unpublished poet, so I will not.

Please don't cheer too loudly.

The parade finished, we consulted our MPPP Times Guide to pick a few attractions. We realized that Country Bears wasn't open despite whatever faulty information we'd had before, but we shrugged it off and headed for Mickey's Philharmagic.

Closed. For repairs. Or something. We were told to check back later.

We moved on to Snow White's Scary Adventures, and since we were alone in our car thingummy, we felt no compunctions about shouting at Snow White "Don't do it!" when the evil queen, in the guise of an ugly old woman, offered the poisoned apple to Snow White. We also told the evil queen it wasn't too late to mend her ways, but alas, neither one listened to us.

But of course, everything ended well and Snow White survived her scary adventure.

Then we went on the Tea Cups because they were there and we could walk on. After doing our best to make each other vomit, we stumbled off to check again on Philharmagic.

Still closed.

So we rode Space Mountain again. I scream/laughed as usual, Melneth screamed, and Nevi remained silent. We rode Buzz again. I rose one rank above Space Cadet. We considered riding Pirates, and much as I enjoyed seeing the Jack Sparrow additions, I did not enjoy the soaking from the small drop. And it was dark. So we skipped it.

And rode on IASW again. Because Melneth wanted to.

No Stockholm Syndrome for me this time. Instead I resisted the urge to sing or to get out my camera. And instead noticed the three hideous gyrating dolls that look as if they are about to have parasitic creatures burst forth from their bowels a la Alien. I know it's supposed to be their hips swaying in a circle (but of course the human body cannot move in such a manner anyway) but the proportions are off, and instead it looks like-- well, I've written what it looks like. I forget what scene they're in, but Nevi was surprised I hadn't noticed them earlier.

I must have been too entranced with the hippo the first time round. And to remind me of what I found pleasant about IASW, here it is again.

IMG_0715.jpg

Having done our friendly duty to Melneth by riding IASW again, we told her that was it. No more that evening, and no more on Wednesday if we decided to return to MK for our last morning. Melneth agreed.

We headed back to Adventureland, because I wanted an encounter with a certain pirate before the fireworks.

Up Next: An alien that didn't expel itself from a wooden doll, a sword in a stone, more attempts at Philharmagic, fireworks, and Dream Along With Mickey.

And oh yes. A certain pirate.

Did you ever find out why the show wasn't the full show? That's rather weird!

Very cool piratey costume! :thumbsup2 I am assuming Nevi and Melneth were princesses with their pretty dresses?

I loved the Pirate and Princess Parade when we saw it in April -- the swordsmen in the Aladdin bit were very cool!

A certain pirate? I know some people who might be very excited about that! :rolleyes1

Oh to bad Mickey got sick! I actually do love that hippo. You all look very nice dressed up for the party.

... would still smell like themselves.

Assumedly the princesses would smell very sweet.

I felt very adult-like as I realized, Nevi and Melneth having promptly commenced with napping, that if we all wanted showers before the party, there would be no nap for me.

Aw, Jiri. All responsible and grown up! And exhausted...poor thing.

Love the outfits! You pirate, you!pirate:

Yes, we do have these types of discussions.

Who doesn't? Well, me now. Because I have a little one. But before, oh the discussions.:thumbsup2

Favorite! Favorite, favorite, favorite.

I don't know why but that just struck me. I can picture the three of you...well, Melneth and Nevi's faces are completley obscured by large whatnots and doodads from photobucket...but I can picture the three of you whirling around guiding the animatronics along and it just tickles my funny bone.

It's when they're doing the hula. And you have successfully managed to damage my whole perception of that set of dolls.:lmao:

And oh yes. A certain pirate.

Evil. Evil, evil, evil, evil, EVIL!!!!!

Don't you know I have to work today?

Couldn't you have thrown me a bone here? Well, I guess the photo counts, but I'm  , Jiri!

Come on! How many days before you update?;)

I love your Pirate costume! It look so awesome! pirate: Is it wrong that I want to go to Disney when there is a P&PP??

I can't believe you rode IASW twice! I think one time is my limit per trip because even I, lover of all things Fantasyland gets just a tid bit annoyed towards the end.

I can't wait for the next update. :goodvibes

I love the costumes. I wish we were there during the P&PP. I'd really like to see that parade in person (assuming I could convince DH to go... he thinks the parties aren't worth the money :sad2: ).

Can't wait to hear more about that night.
