Okay, so last night I attended a panel discussion hosted by the writing organization I'm a member of. There were door prizes. I knew about the door prizes, and I'm the praying sort. So, because I believe that God does care about what we want, I prayed mostly for the free attendance to the conference that's in a week, with a couple of prayers of "Or it might be nice to get one of the lunches with an editor or agent."
I didn't get the free conference, but I did get a breakfast meeting with an agent. Now, keep in mind I didn't get to pick the agent. But she's mostly interested in urban fantasy. And the novel I'm working on is urban fantasy. So, despite my initial decision that I wouldn't go to the conference due to financial considerations, I'm going now. After all, the conference chair offered the panel attendees the original discounted price. And I'm paid every two weeks, and my "extra" paycheck is coming up next month. So the conference cost can float on my credit card for a month.
Now. I tell this to you because, though there's no guarantees that anything would come from this breakfast meeting other than a cool experience, there's always the chance the agent would request to see my novel. Of which I've completed the rough draft, but not the full-blown editing. And honestly it's unlikely I could finish the editing in the course of a week, but I'll give it my best shot.
So what I'm getting at is: My TR will be on hold for at least a week. Unless I get horribly stuck with my editing and decide I'd prefer to spend a couple of hours drafting an update. But chances are you shouldn't expect an update until Tues the 16 (the conference is Sept 12-14), and maybe longer than that depending upon how the meeting goes.
Thanks for sticking with me, everyone. I appreciate the time you've taken to read and comment on my TR. Rest assured that I do plan to finish (only two posts remaining!) but I'm just not sure when that will be.
