Chapter 18 - "THERE'S NO SLEEPING IN DISNEY!"
January 16th, 2011
After our Toontown Tour, we got a call from Mom and Vickie. Vick was feeling a tiny bit better so they left First Aid. We met up with them in Fantasyland.
We went on Peter Pan's Flight and used our Fastpasses from earlier.
Kristen's favorite part of "You Can Fly!" .... "COME ON NANA!"
Then we went over to "It's a Small World." The sign was acting a little funky.
But there was not a long line, so we went on!
What a nice smooth ride... up until the very end. You never notice how bumpy the loading dock is until you have a sick person on board with you. Poor little Vick didn't like that part.
So after that thrill, Mother and Vickie decided to go back to the room so Vickie could try and fully recover for tomorrow.
But for Kristen and me, the night had barely begun! The two biggest disney-obsessed frumps were left with the Magic Kingdom at their fingertips until two in the morning. Yeah, we couldn't be happier.
So what did we do? We did the most mature thing we could think of.... we rode the Carrousel!
And we ran around scouring the entire ride for Cinderella's Horse - which is the one with the gold bow on the tail.
We found it! Kristen was happy and that was her chosen horse!
Next up was Snow White's Scary Adventures!
And then we headed over to PhilharMagic.... but it was closed! ): We were so sad because this would have been such a great frump attraction to experience together. However, it was closed for a conference that would take place a few days later to discuss the Fantasyland Expansion. (where they actually announced the closing of Snow White's Scary Adventures. How sad!)
We left the world of Fantasy and ended up in Adventureland. I think you can see where this is going...
We got a Dole Whip Float!! Awe yeah, Dole Whip, yeah. It was DELICIOUS.
We sat at a nice little table near the Magic Carpets and enjoyed our piece of paradise. There was hardly anyone in the park and it was such an enjoyable late night Magic Kingdom treat. Yay for Dole Whips!
Then we went on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin... because there was no line! Hooray! I love my Aladdin
Then we headed over to Frontierland and went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad two times. It started raining a little bit, but just a sprinkle. Nothing to slow us down or anything.
While we were on the ride, we saw smoke off in the distance. It was weird! I don't know where it came from.
We also walked by Splash Mountain so we could mope some more about it being closed. Wahh we were so sad!
Our next stop was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and this was our first time experiencing the new queue area! I have to say, we were very impressed. That was a great addition!
And the ride was cute, as usual.
Then we went on the Mad Tea Party and rode in the green cup! When Kristen was in Disney in July, Alice told her that the green cups spin the fastest! We were going at high speeds, so I bet she was right!
We walked to Tomorrowland and while passing the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, these two young guy cast members saw we were recording video. They were like "hey, wanna get a really good shot for your video?" I was like "...sure!" So they said, "okay start filming.... now!" So, I recorded and they were like "HEY! GUESS WHAT!? YOU'RE IN DISNEY!!" hahaha it was really precious.
One of us said.. "I feel like I get hit on in Disney." LOL
Then we rode Astro Orbiter! And we could still see the smoke up there that we saw at Thunder Mountain!
Our word of advice... If you're "pooh-sized," don't ride Astro Orbiter. It is a tight squeeze!!
Buzz Lightyear was next! We used our Fastpasses from earlier but... there was no line. HAHA oh. You can tell it was getting late.
We started heading towards Main Street because Kristen was getting a little sleepy. Even though her motto is "THERE'S NO SLEEPING IN DISNEY!" evening extra magic hours can tire anyone out.
Considering we were in "The Music Man," we finally recognized the songs that Disney plays on Main Street USA from that musical. We heard "Gary Indiana" and "Iowa Stubborn," which was stuck in our heads all night. So we sang them. Everytime I would say "OOOOOHHH there's nothin' halfway, about the Iowa to treat you..." Kristen would be like "STOPPP! It's stuck in my head!!" oh, the memories...
So anyway, we went in the Main Street Bakery and got ourselves a water and a chocolate crossaint. Yummy!
I'm tellin' ya, though... one day I will have enough courage to conquer one of those cinnamon loafs. I'm still too scared.
We sat at the little "bar like" area at the back of the room and I caught up on my trip journal.
Kristen was basically falling asleep while I was writing.
So, we gathered up enough energy to walk through the shops on Main Street and headed to the bus stops. A Yacht Club bus pulled up within 5 minutes and we were on our way home! We got those two seats right up in front behind the bus driver.
On the bus, the music they were playing was really nice. So I was like "wow, this music is so relaxing."
Literally right after I said that... "HELLO EVERYONE! WE ARE TRAVELING TO DISNEY'S YACHT AND BEACH CLUB RESORT!!" well, hello there automated screaming disney bus. you sure do have a lot of energy at 2 in the morning.
So, Kristen completely fell asleep on the way home, and I was half asleep. But we made it to the Yacht Club in a short amount of time! We could still see that smoke off in the distance we saw at the parks, but we never did find out where it came from. I hope nothing important was burning! I figure we would have heard about it by now.
So anyways, at that point, it was a little after 2 o'clock in the morning.
And I EASILY talked Kristen out of doing rope drop the next morning.
So we went up to our room and went to sleep!
