We are staying at the Port Orleans for five nights in August. Does anyone know how late the pools are open then? Are there lifeguards? Can my daughter wear her swimmies in the water? She's not a good swimmer.

Do they do any pool games?

Is there a play ground?

Also we have an 8 mo old, can he go in the water? Are there shade areas near the pool?

Sorry for so many questions.

Are you staying at Riverside or French Quarter? Both have pools. We stay at Riverside every year. They have a couple quiet pools and than they have the main pool. It has a slide and play things. There is lots of shade at the main pool. There is also a playgroung on property but I have never been to it. As far as your 8 month old going in the pool that is totally up to you. Don't worry about the amount of questions. That is the reason for diaboards. So we can all get info on the best place in the world. enjoy

I think the pools are open until 10pm, but not exactly sure on this one. We swam in the quiet pool around 11pm. As long as you are quiet, it is fine.

Your daughter can wear her swimmies.

Not that I am aware of.

Yes.

Yes. Yes.

There is a thread here dedicated to each resort if you search. You can also look on allears.net. I believe the pool is open until 12 but the life guards leave at 10. Children can wear floatation devices. The baby will have to wear the water proof swim pants. Don't remember what they're called. No diapers are allowed in pools for obvious sanitary reasons. There is a nice play area next to the pool at POFQ and also a hot tub. Can't say about POR I havn't stayed there yet.

On our stay at POFQ May 15-23 the lifeguard leaves at 8:00 p.m. and water slide is turned off when lifequard off-duty. Pool could be used until midnight but not by unaccomanied children.

As stated earlier, it'll really help if you specify whether you are staying at Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter.

A woman at WDW almost started an argument with me last November. It was late, Magic Kingdom had closed, and I had just walked up to the Port Orleans French Quarter bus stop. A woman asked me if this was the Port Orleans bus stop. I was standing next to the sign, by the way. I said that this line was for POFQ, and the next one over was for Port Orleans Riverside. She got a little indignant and told me she was staying at "just Port Orleans." I tried explaining again, but she got more huffy. I then excused myself from the conversation by pretending one of my kids needed me.

So like I said, it's not a nasty or nitpicky question to ask you which Port Orleans you mean, so we can help you further.:goodvibes

Sorry I didn't know there were 2 Port Orleans. I looked at the reservation and it says Port Orleans Riverside. Is that good? What's the difference between that one and the other one. When I called to reserve the room the lady told me a couple of places and that was in our price range and came with the tickets. Did I make a mistake? I'm sorry again for all the questions.

Both Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside are connected but are technically two separate resorts. Riverside is bigger and has a full service restaurant. French Quarter's theming is a little different and is much smaller.

I'm sure someone can describe the differences in more detail but that's the basic difference.

You didn't make a mistake at all. Both of these resorts are in the same exact price range.

You will absolutely love POR.
